Himalaya, the mountain is described as the home of the creator. God who created the universe, his presence and belief is still nurtured; one is at Kolar cave which persists as a confine to Mahadev in Karnataka.

While proceeding to the temple, the hard rocky ways at start figure the way to an ancient religious place. Mostly popular as “AntareGange”, the purity of the temple has been untouched, it may not be possible to believe that the water is naturally filtered.

Creation and presence of Creator

Gange, the daughter of Shiva that flows from the head down to the earth, provides a clear picture of the connection between them that is pure. Surrounded by forests and rocks along with wild animals endures and shows the creation of the Lord. People visit not only to the temple but also to trek through the rocky mountains. Amazing sculpture work on the exteriors will not make it difficult to understand the world of Nataraja.

Nandi and Bhringi, the two main carriers with their LordShiva at the roof are a clear and simple artistry dedication to the ruler of the universe. The entrance is endured with the black stone linga at the top that takes the trekkers and pilgrims to the main Griha and then to the forest.

Temple is the place where Shiv resides, the Kolar cave that begins with the amazing convention with the structures within the bounded water.

Natures beauty of Kolar Cave

How much is Mahadev’s grace is merged with nature? Serene paths to the temple that is covered with the green trees that are tall and provides shade to the pilgrims visiting. Antaragange is a motivation for the young generation who are lovers of adventures. Is it the path that is hard with black rocks, covered with green trees? Yes, the most fascinating is the waterfalls, that change colors with different levels of rocks. Crystal, clear water of Antara Gange that flows down as narrow streams through the forest.

The peaceful motivation from nature has been an aspiration for the youths as well as the olds. It has been possible in both ways, motivating the young with energetic vibes of nature while the old as the religious place. During the Shiva Ratri, the temple is adorned with earthen lights and Led, which provides a distinctive appearance as a gesture of festivity.

While the temple of Lord Shiva is situated at a peak of the mountain at Kolar cave, so one has to walk through several steps to reach the entrance. Those who want to look forward to trek into the forest have to choose a Sunday. Why Sunday? Not other days of a week. This is because the authority ensures security through the path to the forest on this specific day. Though monkeys are common inside but different wild animals still survive, it may be a poisonous snake to a wild fox. On the weekdays, trekkers can travel, the authority does not take any responsibility. So, to have a safe and happy adventure, it is better to opt for a Sunday.

The season of love is coming alive with the Valentine’s Day approaching soon. We have the city of Venice, the ultimate valentine destination to offer, for that ultra romantic getaway with the love of your life.

Remember that beautifully picturised song from the Hindi movie “The Great Gambler”! Amitabh, Zeenat, Venice’s Grand Canal, Gondola Ride and “Do lafzon ki hai dil ki kahaani”…

Mesmerised? Are You?

Well, when one reaches Venice, they are sure to land in a surreal place. A place that renders magical and wonderful experiences for those who take a vacation to the highest levels of adventure, romance and recreation!

One of the Europe’s most popular holiday destinations, it is also one of the most peaceful cities in Europe too, for the incredible romance it has to offer to all the love birds.

There are many adjectives that come to one’s mind for Venice, such as quixotic, appealing, amorous, relaxing and amazing. The city keeps buzzing with all the thrill and happenings, yet, you would find no chaos here. Venice can be a bit overpriced, but when it comes down to it, there is nothing quite as romantic after a long Venetian dinner with your beloved. When you slide through the waters of Venice’s back canals in a Gondola guided by the expert oar of a gondolier, your holidays become no less than a trip to heaven.

Venetian Delights

In addition to the heavenly gondola ride, there are lots more thrilling options in Venice to see. There is St. Mark Square at the heart of the city and is a true architectural masterpiece, which looks incredibly amazing.

Cafes and shops buzz with activity around the famous Clock Tower, which stands at the lower end of the square. The Clock Tower is also part of the magnificent Basilica that stands in all its glory decorated with mosaics and grand artwork.

The Basilica is named after St Mark, whose remains were stolen, or recovered, depending on who you believe, from Alexandria over a thousand years ago. There are also examples of Roman work dating back to the 3rd century that were originally featured above the main portal.

The Doge’s Palace sits to the east of the main square and is one of the finest examples of Venetian Gothic architecture in the city. The doge once resided here when it was also the seat of government. The ostentatious appearance is evidence of the wealth and the power that the city once held in Europe. The palace also houses an excellent art collection that includes works by Tintoretto and Veronese.

The Galleria dell’Accademia is a wonderful art museum devoted to the artistic legacy of the Venetian masters and those hailing from the surrounding Veneto. The artwork dates from between the 14 and 18th centuries and is a fine collection that shows just how few changes the city has experienced over the centuries. Featured artists include Carpaccio, Titian, Bellini and Canaletto.

Canals, architecture and a magical air of romance! This is what Venice is all about and more.

Food, Oh Yes!

Venice is less known for its food, but the cuisine here is quite stimulating and varied and there is certainly more to Italian food than pasta and Parmesan. The gastronomic preparations in Venice could be described as a strange and interesting mixture of Spanish seafood, French preparation techniques, filling Baltic portions, and plenty of traditional, home grown dishes.

Risotto is hugely popular in Venice and the first dish that comes to mind is a regional specialty known as “Risi e Bisi,” a simple yet delicious dish of thick risotto cooked with chunks of pancetta and peas, all mixed together in a soup that will fill you nicely. This dish is found in most restaurants as it’s a Veneto speciality.

Original cuisine based on the local Venetian traditions can be found at Ca’ Sagredo. An elegant hotel that has an upmarket restaurant with adjoining bar, the bar flows on to a lovely Grand Canal terrace which is great for watching the gondolas glide by, with heavenly music playing at Lords and Ladies.

Venice for You!

This gorgeous city has much to offer those looking for an exciting and romantic weekend away. Apart from the museums and magnificent architectural sites, it is a great walking city, hand in hand, eyes in the eyes!

Spend some time exploring the back-streets, visiting the local markets and of course indulging in the wonderful food and wine on offer, for that romantic rendezvous, this valentine’s day!

Embark on a romantic journey right away! Because “Do lafzon ki hai dil ki kahaani…”

Therefore, we say Nice is so Nice to visit, when on a French holiday.

The airport at Nice is also a popular arrival point for people visiting other places on the French Riviera.

There is good reason for the popularity of the city as Nice has something for everyone. Pleasing weather, far-spread exotic beach, a medieval old town housing grand architectural magnificence, a wide selection of museums, alluring bars and restaurants for people of all the tastes, are all that Nice offers to the holiday makers coming from all across the globe.

It becomes difficult to choose among the places of interest in this city, for the passionate voyagers who plan to make it a travel destination for a lesser time.

It has a lot to offer to its guests.

Exploring Nice

Despite its size Nice is an easy city to explore, with most places of interest focused around the central area.

The Beach and the Promenade des Anglais

This is the identification of Nice or one can say the best known symbol of Nice. The Promenade des Anglais, a broad and very popular seafront walk, several kilometres long which heads west from the city centre. Towards the old town this esplanade becomes the Quai des Etats Unis. Beach lovers can spend cool evenings strolling around and living the romance that the city has to offer. The promenade is also used and enjoyed by joggers, cyclists (there is an allocated cycle path), while many people just enjoy the view and the sunshine.

Ponchettes and Cours Saleya Market

When one is done with relishing the sea, they can take a walk towards the inside of the city, towards Cours Saleya Market. Lined with a fleet of traditional fishing cottages, this market is one of the most famous markets in France. These old cottages called Ponchettes, have been preserved as a symbol of “Old Nice”. No modern constructions have replaced them, although, some of them have been renovated to hold cafes and art galleries for the visitors. The market is known for its flowers. One can buy some fragrant blooms to make the day even more vibrant. Other places around Cours Saleya that are not be missed are, Saint Francois de Paule Church, and 19th Century Nice Opera House

The Old Town – Real Flavour of Nice

Old town is behind the Cours Saleya market. It is an extensive area of tall old buildings, many painted in faded pastel colours, and open squares that also contain important historical monuments in Nice and hoard of shops and cafes. Among the most notable monuments: the Palais de Justice (on the Place du Palais), is a grand colonnaded 19th century mansion; the domed cathedral of Sainte-Reparate is in the heart of the old town; the Saint Nicolas Orthodox cathedral; several other interesting churches (Saint-Jacques, Penitents-Noirs Chapel, Saint Augustin). Also not to be missed is the impressive decorated interior – especially the ceilings – of the 17th century Palais Lascaris, towards the north of the old town on Rue Droite.

Climbing Up the Hill to the East of Nice

From the old town, one can follow the steps in Rue du Chateau (off Rue Droite) to leave the city centre. At the top of the street one passes through the entrance to the ‘castle grounds’ to reach the widespread park area on the hill. There is a good opportunity to relax in the park while taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the city down. The main reason people visit the park is that it offers amazing viewpoints across the city and along the coast. There are two separate viewpoints, one towards the east and the other towards the west. The view across the rooftops of old Nice and along the Promenade des Anglais is one of the highlights of the park.

After enjoying the park and views one can visit the Nice cemetery on the hill. Less visited than the main park area, the cemetery is a very tranquil place and has many impressive sepulchres and monuments to admire

Art Museums for Artistic Surveyors

Van Gogh was the first renowned artist to move to the south of France. He started the trend and other famous artists who followed in his footsteps are Picasso and Matisse. These artists loved this part of France. The scenery with the stark blues, yellows and greens (sea/sky, sunshine, nature) is more attractive than anywhere else in France. This is the reason Nice houses some art museums of prominence. Many art lovers prefer this city for a short stay, to discover the real art spread in these museums.

The Matisse Museum:

Holds many styles of Matisse’ artwork covering a large period of his working life.

The Chagall Museum houses a very good collection by artist Marc Chagall which is the largest in one place to be found anywhere in the world. A series of 17 paintings representing scenes from the Old Testament is the highlight of this museum.

The Museum of Contemporary Art focused more on the 1960’s and the pop artists such as Andy Warhol and Yves Klein.

Nice Museum of Fine Art Stepping back in time to the 18th-early 20th centuries, there is also an impressive collection taking up to the late-impressionist painters

Different places, different traditions and different perceptions are the mix that makes up the culture of India. Incredible India as it is called has always surprized people with its different beliefs and cultural practices. The country which is a home for innumerable gods and goddesses, have end number of temples in the name of different gods.

But then as I said, the country has kept people astonished with its unusual beliefs and religious following.

Let’s have a look at unusual temples in India.

Baba Mandir, Gangtok

Located in the beautiful locations of Gangtok, imagine a soldier from Indian Army being worshipped by the people from all over the country. Known as the ‘hero of Nathula’ Harbans Singh died in 1967 near Nathula and it is said that he came in the dreams of another soldier to make a temple in his memory and so it is named as Baba Mandir. For all the soldiers, this is a sacred place and they believe he is the one who takes care of every soldier who is posted at the border. The temple made for him also has a small room where all his daily usable important things are kept with a small bed. People say that every morning the bed sheet of the bed is found a little crumpled. Many people from all over the country come to visit this temple.

Baba Temple, Gangtok

Bullet Baba Mandir, Jodhpur

Few years back when a man died in an accident riding this bullet, the police took it in their custody and surprisingly the next day it was again found at the location of the accident. The people of this place now have set up a temple at the same location where the bullet was found near the tree and they worship here for a safe journey.

Bullet Baba Temple

Stambeshwar Mahadev, Gujarat

Also known as the disappearing temple, around 50 km away from the Vadodra city of Gujarat, this temple is located near the Arabian Sea. This temple actually is visible during the low tides and while there are high tides the temple gets submerged in the Arabian Sea. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Stambeshwar Mahadev Temple, Gujarat

Raavan Mandir, Kanpur

While the whole country gets ready to celebrate Dusshehra, the festival of victory over evil by burning the huge statue of Ravana, there are a many people who worship him. This temple of Raavan, is opened only for few hours once in an year on this day. Many people come down to visit this temple and prayers are carried out.

Raavan Temple

Kal Bhairav, Ujjain

How about offering gallons of liquor to god every day? This strange temple situated in the old city of Ujjain is dedicated to the god Kal Bhairav. The most unusual thing about this temple is that when the worshippers offer liquor to the idol it just fades away by itself without any efforts and the sight is worth watching!

Kaal Bhairav Temple Ujjain
