More than the Genius Jijaji, we have loved watching the antics of Pyaaremohan Illahabadi aka Parimal Tripathi essayed by Dharemdra.

And even after the double dozen times, we watch Chupke Chupke who can get enough of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s masterpiece.  Some special moments that make it worth it.

“Woh mere naam mein S hai na…….V A S” :

While Sharmila Tagore (Sulekha) is busy plotting against her Jijaji, Jaya Bhaduri (Vasudha) has to instead make a fool of her sister(Lata), once she knows the complete drama. The scene is a class act from Jaya who is known for more serious roles. Interestingly, this is Jaya’s most hilarious dialogue on the film, while her sister is fuming over Jaya’s S (ass) act.

“Hum tapankhi hai”:

As he senses that Genius Jijaji (Om Prakash) has fallen for his antics as Pyaaremohan, Dharendra ups the ante with his tapankhi (cockeyed)act. Om Prakash’s efforts to have Pyaare look him in the eye are just so hilarious, especially with Dharmendra’s over the top expressions.

“Do Biwi Baraah Bachche”:

In an attempt to cook up a brilliant story as the guest house chokidaar, Professor Tripathi weaves in such minute details to his life story, as two wives and twelve children. The entire conversation between Sharmila and Dharmendra in the film is a hit show.

“Shrimaan taklaji sahib”:

The scene that introduces Genius Jijaji, makes you really want to know what is this chap like. Dharmendra’s subtle hints on being jealous from his would be brother in law and the funny details of the man in question- he was a barrister, now owns a soap factory, could have been a minister, has a very young daughter and also a daughter old enough to be married- set the tone for the film.

“ Saheb…..Woh Pthisis ka kya hua”:

you are surely smiling reading this. Dharmedra doesn’t leave the chance to prove Sharmila his act as a Hindi-obsessed-driver is going on great, as she arrives at her brother-in-law’s place, he throws the pthisis bomb. He gets an equally brilliant reaction from Omprakash, you do remember the mumbling he does in the scene. We all have tried to figure out the swearing, haven’t we?

What a relief!!

I just loved Piku!

Piku begins with a reference to constipation proceeds to indulge in poop-centric jokes and ends with a reference to a good, satisfying “motion”.

The last time Bollywood presented a film so fixated on the human digestive system was Delhi Belly. In Piku, however, it’s potty humour, Bengali style. On one hand, it means the film has none of the crude bits that Abhinay Deo and Akshat Verma’s north Indian caper did. It’s graceful, elegant and never crass. It’s also far more relentless in its focus.

Piku is all about potty, particularly Amitabh Bachchan’s potty. And it — the film — is as wonderful, satisfying and fulfilling as a long-awaited, post-constipation dump.

Ahhhh what a relief!!!

If you have dealt with a nerve wrenching constipation, you would know how a POTTY RELIEF feels!

Writer Juhi Chaturvedi and director Shoojit Sircar have done what no one thought Bollywood had the gumption to do: they’ve made a film that’s entirely unpredictable. From character to plot, everything in Piku will take you by surprise. Everything other than Bachchan’s inconsistent Bengali-accent, that is. But it’s a minor flaw because Piku gets pretty much everything else right, and gloriously so.

Padukone’s Piku is not a heroine, but a very real person. She’s not a nubile, pretty face. She’s grown up, responsible and doing everything on her own!

Piku is great fun. It’s filled with laughter and so much motion as well as emotion that you will want to watch it again the moment you come out. Just so that you can return to the banter between Rana, Bhaskor and Piku. And adds to it the psychological relief of getting the bowels opened, thrown out and a great dump with a blissful sigh! 

Now, allow me to ask, Don’t we all need that! Don’t we all need a Piku?

Modi Sarkaar is definitely constipated and so is Indian Politics!

Our sports and sportsmen are at the worst stage of constipation and need an immediate relief!

Our Law and Judiciary are displaying severe constipation and farting fowl smells (reference recent Sallu Bhai and Jailalitha Cases, and many others languishing in the courts for eons)!

We are busying ourselves in making actual poop-centric jokes about these demented entourage around us and happy displaying them on social media!

But the question is, who or what is going to be the Piku of all these!

Shouldn’t our filmmakers be choosing more targeted subjects to make a Piku for all these grossly infected areas of the nation and try to provide some relief. Why can’t we have a more relevant cinema, which provides answers to these constipated situations? As we all know that cinema is one medium which propagate far and wide and is able to instil thoughts in common man’s brain. Now that the problem is severe and we are screaming for an immediate relief, how about joining hands and asking for a Piku?

I need a Piku for sure! To help me out of all the constipated situations of my life!

The Khans have claimed to be “friends” on more than one occasion and let’s pretend that is a fact.

If the film is remade, it would be quite an interesting show to watch as to who gets the reigns of the film and whether that Khan fills the shoes of Big B perfectly or not.

Aamir Khan was one of the producers for Delhi Belly; well, why not act in it, too? Sounds plausible right? All he could have done is bring together the other two Khans and form the amazing ‘threesome’.

In this age of item songs and gravity-defying action scenes which also defy intelligence, it is such a delight to see a film being made which is about us, about the common man, about relations which we all feel and nurture day-in day-out of our lives.

Now it might also happen that only the trailer is exemplary and the movie falls flat on its face, but frankly enough, even that is permissible considering that we do have such filmmakers who experiment with their stories and stick their neck out even at the risk of losing all!

While Deepika is looking absolutely ravishing even without an iota of make-up, Big B once again proves why he is one of the most sought after actors in our country today.

Irfan with his unusual style of acting and screen presence just makes sure that no one can afford to miss this flick!

It may or may not do a business like Aamir Khan starrer Dhoom 3 or SRK starrer Happy New Year or apna Sallu bhai starrer Kick, but then money isn’t everything! After all, eating a famous, glamorous, but a bad dish and then running to doctors for stomach ailments is a bad idea!

Better to enjoy a simple meal which nourishes your mind, body and soul!

Shahrukh Khan must be very, very sad!

The man whose dimpled smile makes women go weak in their knees across the world must be crying out loud in the privacy of his home since he has got no option!

After all, he has just delivered a fourth massive flop show on TV and it indeed is a big deal. Yes, we are talking about his latest dud, Sabse Shaana Kaun on the new GEC &TV which has proved that at least SRK isn’t the shaana of all!

Come to think of it, he took over the reins from Amitabh Bachchan for Kaun banega Crorepati and fell flat on his face. Then he proved that he isn’t faster than kids in Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? After that came a show which had no head or tails and may not even be found in the annals of the worst shows ever history, Zor Ka Jhatka which didn’t have any fizz. Now comes Sabse Shaana.. and again, he has failed to connect with his massive audience which pays from its nose to watch his films in theatres, but when it comes to watch him free of cost, night after night in the comfort of their homes, the very same audience ignores him like a plague rat!

So what’s wrong? Why his Midas touch not working in TV while in the movies he keeps doing wonders with his same senseless crazy sense of humour? While his contemporaries like Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are drawing huge crowds for their respective TV shows, Bigg Boss and Satyamev Jayate, the King of Bollywood is failing?

One primary reason could be the selection of shows. If the show’s format or the script doesn’t relate with the audience, it will fail no matter who is hosting it. Secondly, we think SRK is living in a cocoon where he is thinking that the audience is still that naïve, innocent sorts who loved him in DDLJ days and will continue to fall for his cute innocent boy next door humour. That must be his biggest mistake as the world has moved much ahead than those mushy days.

The reason Sallu bhai is such a huge hit is because he touches raw emotions, real emotions which involves bit of edgy fun and isn’t too sweet. It has its own share of anger, irritation for crap, boldness for adventure, things which relate to every human being. Aamir of course is holding the flag for morality and ethics and that’s why working. SRK on the other hand is just trying to sugary sweet and trying to show that everything in the world, his world, is hunky dory and people should just laugh and smile and be in the ‘awwwwwwwww’ moment all the time! Sadly, that isn’t a reality beyond social networking sites!

Extra sugar causes diabetes, Mr. Khan! Come back to earth from your la la land and entertain your fans in a real manner with something that adds value to entertainment! Or else, please stick to the brain-less movies you are doing now a days, rather than edgy cinema which gave you the brand identity all those years ago!

Such may be the case with our desi diva, Priyanka Chopra. She has been one of the top most actresses of current times as far as Bollywood is concerned. However, her appetite to be world famous, not just amongst Indians, but even amongst a global population forced her to try it out with her singing skills.

Well, we all know how that turned out. After trying real hard to sing in an American accent, joining hands with Hollywood musicians and singers and finally releasing three singles, she realised that becoming a pop-artist isn’t as simple as opening a soda bottle. Singing talents are different than being an actress and even though both are creative arts, both require different kind of skill sets. However, we do appreciate her attempts at trying something different!

In the same flow of things, she recently revealed that she has been cast in an American drama series, Quantico produced by one of the major entertainment networks of Hollywood, ABC Network. Here she is playing an important role opposite Jake McLaughlin of Grey’s Anatomy fame!

However, the question that comes to mind is that it isn’t a Hollywood movie which she has signed. No doubt it might be a big TV series, but is always going to be somewhat less than a Hollywood movie. So did she sign it because she couldn’t get through movies so the next big offer was pounced upon? And if she had to do TV, why not something in India as well? Not necessarily the usual saas-bahu drama, but something different that does justice to her talent. After all bigger stars than her like Anil Kapoor tried it here after doing a movie and then a series, 24! Even Amitabh Bachchan tried his hands at a local fictional show, Yudh; so what if it didn’t work out! Even movies flop, but a big star’s presence always helps the channels and production houses to raise the bar as far as content is concerned.

We do hope that she succeeds in her new venture, but it would be really nice to see her in a desi avatar on a locally produced fictional show where in her fans can get to see her on a daily basis, up close and personal mouthing Hindi dialogues! Portraying a different character with no forced song and dance sequences can really help her gain so many more fans who in turn will get some superlative entertainment on the idiot box famous for churning out below-standard content most of the times.

Well, Big B just decided to promote his upcoming Hindi feature film, ‘Shamitabh’ in a very unique style that is set to enthral audiences worldwide!

Amitabh Bachchan, 72-year veteran actor, who needs no introduction for his unsurpassable contribution to Indian Cinema is set to join seasoned commentators like Harsha Bhogle, Kapil Dev and other noted commentators for the highly-anticipated February 15 cricket match between India and Pakistan.

Big B as we all lovingly call him is already flustered at this sudden development, and is spending most of his time cramming cricket terminologies to get things right.

He will be making a commentary debut along with retired cricketer and fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar. Both these men are also famous for their deep toned voices that are a delight to listen to.

‘I am very excited about the live commentary sessions and I will be joined by Mr. Harsha Bhogle and Mr. Kapil Dev. I am already taking cricketing tips from them and getting all the ‘mid-off and mid-on’ terms right,” Big B told reporters during the promotion of his upcoming Hindi film ‘Shamitabh’ in the capital.

The entire stint is a promotional method devised by the director of the movie R. Balki, which is slated for release on February 6, just a week ahead of the cricketing World Cup. In the film too, Bachchan lends his baritone voice to actor Dhanush, who plays a mute actor with impressive acting skills who takes the help of the aged superstar to make it big in the Indian film industry ‘Shamitabh’ is a visual explanation of our film industry and the life that revolves around it.

The film will see many Indian directors and experienced actors who will be playing themselves in the movie. The film specifically revolves around Big B’s voice.

The promos of the cricketing event feature Kapil Dev and Shoaib Akhtar, who sound exactly like the superstar after they decide to pop a lozenge (called Shamitabh) / grace a Star Sports microphone respectively which simply emulates the combination of their cricketing jargon delivered in Big B’s inimitable voice.

What we would love to see is if Mr. Bachchan agrees to impromptu recitation of lines from Madhushala (his father’s iconic contribution to poetry) or some of his famous movie dialogues. It would be even better if Shoaib Akhtar decided to join in, singing some of his favourite songs, we all remember how lovely his voice sounded when he sang for Shahrukh Khan at a promotional event for Sahara India.

This duo would be a delight to see!
