When we mention Kimono the attire of the robe is made of twelve layers. People before the Heian Period had the culture of dressing up in this thick, a dozen layered dress.
Culture of Japan

The shadow of the Japanese fashion and traditional culture is seen in the Matsuri festival. Not only the local people can participate but the tourists are also seen participating in this festival. Fun and joy are the main intentions of the festivals that the locals and tourists both observe. Beautiful young and old boys and girls are seen in the traditional dress.

The traditional dresses of Kimonos that was into 12 layers were reduced by the Japanese Government after World war 2 that re-fashioned into shorter sleeves and reduced layers. The style of the crests at the neck, long broadened sleeves, and glossy silk fabric all together creates distinctive which is still traditional, ethnic, and attractive.

Noodles in Japan

When you are into the local festival of Japan, the main delicious preparation of the noodles with a touch of the Japanese culture is still alive in the festivals. The flavors of noodles that started in 1900, have changed but still have the ethnicity of the country. Food and attire have been the oldest and equally popular globally. Best noodle recipes of Japan are:

Ramen: When you ask for noodles, it will be the first choice that will be served to you, as the most ancient preparation. Festivals in summers or winters all the year-round this ramen noodles are their pride to serve them in front of you to savor the food.

Somen: Chilled noodles when served as it is stored in the ice container after cooking. It is for sure that you will never find this unique item anywhere in the world. Now add some Katsuobushi sauce and enjoy it on bamboo flumes.

Sumo Wrestling, Sushi and Cherry Blossons. We associate Japan with that a lot. These aspects are monolithic in Japanese culture, but there they have some uniqueness that distinguished them from others. Japanese culture is one of the most intriguing ones and lauded. It has idyllic landscapes, clean surroundings and unmatched cultural values. In short, this is one of the most interesting places on earth to live in. But what really makes Japan a class apart?

Read on below to know:

They are pretty punctual:

All the public transport systems are orderly and bang on time. They give utmost importance to punctuality. A Japanese transport company recently released an apology to the commuters for being 25 seconds late! really?! More surprisingly, the trains issue late slips for the passengers to show to their employers if the train gets delayed even a minute.

They are very hardworking:

In fact, most hardworking than anyone you know. They will do justice to any work they take up. They describe the attitude towards their work as “Karoshi” which means ‘death by overwork’. The Japanese will never have qualms to do some extra work than their regular working hours. They will even take a nap in the office if they need.

Their diligence towards their work is unmatched:

The Japanese barely take any days off from their work. The Japanese workforce incorporate 200-400 hours more than countries such as Germany and France. Surprisingly, 17 percent Japanese people end up losing their paid vacations because they don’t use them at all. The Japanese drivers, recently, continued to ferry passengers despite being on a strike but they refused to take fares from them.

They are one of the politest lot you will see:

The Japanese hold greeting each other in high regard. You will often see them bow not only once, but thrice. Apart from greeting, you will see them apologizing and thanking people a lot. They also thrive on emotions like respect, appreciation and remorsefulness.

Their art of cleanliness is another level:

There are no janitors in Japanese schools because they clean the school by themselves. The students themselves clean the trash, sweep of swap to keep the place squeaky clean. You will often see the store owners sweeping the streets and sidewalks of their stores as well. In short, they are obsessed about cleanliness and this habit of them made history. You will be marveled to see waste collection system, anti-bacterial products and immaculately clean streets.

They combine their food hence they are healthier:

Their staple food is rice but they assort their food with fish, vegetables, fermented foods and eat them frequently. Eating this way helps them prevent from binging on processed foods that have more calories on each bite. The seafood in their diet help them maintain Omega-3 and Omega-6 in their bodies.

They follow an active lifestyle to remain fitter:

According to World Health Organization, more than 98% Japanese children bike or cycle to school because they like to stay active from their childhood itself. In fact, children get 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity just by going to school and back. They also have a tendency to walk after their meals which cut down a lot of calories from their body and help improve digestion.

These are the key traits, or lifestyle habits in Japanese people that make them different from others.

It not only brings you to diverse cultures, but also lets you taste their indigenous cuisine, let alone liquor. For instance, if you visit Nagaland during Hornbill Festival that falls in February, you will get to taste their authentic rice beer. The carousers will leave no opportunity unused to taste the authentic liquors but there are people who have aversion towards it. The latter kind will seek destinations with cultures that don’t emphasize drinking, neither any loud nighttime activities for that matter. In a nutshell, those are the sober travelers and singling out the perfect holiday destination for them is fairly difficult. Here are, however some places you can consider to visit in case you don’t cotton to alcohol culture much:

Sri Lanka:

There are prevalent religious and cultural reasons behind them not drinking alcohol. So, you will feel a lot of peace as a sober traveler. Besides, the Muslim and Buddhist cultural stronghold ensures sobriety. You can enjoy a delectable range of local cuisine instead.

Japan:

The delicious food, sights and views will seal the deal. There will be no requirement for alcohol to get you intoxicated. Although, you can catch crowds bustling over beer in local restaurants but you will have no waiters pursuing you to order alcohol.

Seoul:

Korea is known for its street food and you can indulge in them with your heart’s content. The travelling experience will be no less than a fairytale because of the nighttime markets that remain open until the wee hours of the morning selling almost anything in hilariously cheap prices. The restaurants and cafes remain open 24 hours but there is so much more to do than drinking so relax!

LA:

The main draw of Los Angeles is that it inundates you with healthy food. You can hike and surf in Malibu, play Beach Volleyball or take a romantic stride across the famous Manhattan beach. Best, you can also cruise along the Pacific Coast Highway. So, rest assured, you won’t get much drunkards swarming the street.

Santorini:

Even though it is famous for being a party island, Santorini is not a place for drunkards. You can have the time of your life here in the beaches, hikes, gyros and frappes. The whole town comes alive in the night, beaming with happy faces completely in their senses. The restaurants too remain open until dawn so you can probably sip coffee from a dreamy beach restaurant catching glimpses of the idyllic beaches.

Morocco:

The Muslim populace are repelled to drinking. Let me put it clearly, alcohol is available in Morocco but definitely not the part of their culture. Not even a single shop you will see advertising it as if it is no big thing. I am almost getting goosebumps here thinking about the maze-like cities, windy streets and the Sahara desert. You can instead enjoy varied types of coffee here rather than alcohol.

Awesomeness at their best, these places are paradisiacal for those non-drinkers.

Simply either you will get a notice or will directly get fired from the job, right?

I am sure you often feel sleepy during work hours but you don’t even close your eyes because you are scared of your boss. Because if your seniors or boss catches you sleeping then you are gone. But you will be shocked to know that there is a country where employees got sleeping hours during work at their office!

Surprised to hear this?

Well! it’s true!

You must be thinking that I am dreaming or kidding but let me tell you that such a country really exist and the country would not be less than the paradise where the employees can slumber during the working hours.

So let me tell you that the country is none other than the super developed country Japan. Yes, employees in Japan are not afraid of sleeping during their work in the office even they get separate sleeping hours at their workplace itself. Yes, here if an employee didn’t get enough sleep at night then he or she can manage a nap during work hours and the best part is that it doesn’t affect their salary. You might be surprised to know that here there is a term in Japan for sleeping during work hours: “Inemuri”, which means sleeping while on duty or sleeping on the job refers to falling asleep while on the time clock or equivalent, or else while responsible for performing some active or passive job duty. the job hours – Inamuri means that it exists but sleeping.

Actually, people’s work hours are very high in Japan, and most people only get about 6 hours of sleep.

Because of this, the companies here give this separate sleeping time at the workplace to the employees. However, let me also tell you that it is not that the employees can sleep whenever they want but there are some rules to sleep during work hours.

Let us know that people of Japan are known to be the most hardworking people of the world, so here if boss catches his employees sleeping he doesn’t mind it much. Even they have predefined sleeping hours. This sounds crazy to us but it is very normal and Japan, it is like their daily thing inculcated in their habit.

Hence the sleeping person is not considered lazy in Japan rather he/she is believed to be a hard worker. They do not associate sleep with laziness instead they see it as a trait of hard-working individuals. They have a perception that people fall asleep only when they get tired of hard work. I am sure after reading this article you may also be thinking that if you could get a job in Japan, you could have slept in peace workplace.

Well! at last, we really hope that we could get this amazing system in India as well.

As the time tosses and turns, our practises do too, but the archaic proverbs still have sinister similarities with our modern day sufferings so we should never rule out the wisdom our forefathers shared with us.

Japanese people, in that regard are the maestros of proverbs, Japanese proverb.

We really marvel at how their coinages crackle with simplicity and truth. No wonder, the humankind have always turned to the Japanese people for life’s lessons because they are the assiduous warriors who are not afraid of failure and pitching for greater success. These Japanese proverbs that are mentioned below are translated but meanings remain same nonetheless:

Japanese Proverbs –

“In the struggle between stone and water, in time the water wins”

We all have pelted stone in the water to see it reverberate and create ripples, but the stone drowns after all by the law of nature. So, if you are like that all-encompassing glassy water and people are keeping you at the edge of suffering, all evil will eventually fade away if you prove your mettle.

“Fear is only as deep as the mind allows”

Fear cuts deeper than sword. A person is only stronger when he accepts his flaws himself so that no one else can use it against him. Fear only binds you in confinement, it’s all in your mind, you decide how deep your fear will dig into your mind. There is victory on the other side of fear, don’t forget.

“The tongue is three inches long, yet it can kill a man six feet high”

When a judge signs the death sentence for a criminal, this proverb has its real life implication. This happened always in history, people dying in someone’s order. But then in our lives, we should keep our words on check and should not say toxic things to people when angry only to regret later, you don’t know how deep emotional scars it will cause him.

“If you understand everything, you must be misinformed”

There are cynics, who pretend to understand everything but don’t know how applicability their superficial knowledge has on the practical life. However, Japanese people question the depth of their knowledge that pretends to understand everything and practise bigotry. A wise man always thinks he is fool and a fool is always cocksure.

“He, who runs after two hares, will catch neither”

It is same like keeping your feet on two boats in motion at the same time, it will be topsy-turvy and lead to your downfall. You should hold on to what you have got, only make it better.

“The Bamboo that bends is stronger than the Oak that resists”

You need to bend sometimes to ensure your stronghold in the long haul. Holding on to your pride isn’t always the wise idea.

These Japanese proverbs are so profound that leaves us thinking what we are doing with our lives.

Many governments around the world are against the same, but some countries have opted for the choice, with South Korea jumping on the infamous bandwagon.

South Korea has decided to decriminalise adultery

The law against adultery in this Asian nation was accepted in 1953 and was even upheld in 2008 with protecting social harmony given as the reason.

Now one might wonder what the after-effect of such a move might be. Well, to start with, stocks of one of South Korea’s condom company increased by 15%. That’s valid!

Condom sales in South Korea have sky-rocketed by 15%

The nine-judge panel that preceded the hearing contained seven members who rejected the ban as unconstitutional.

Seo Ki-seok, Constitutional Court justice, in defence if the judgement passed by them said, “The law is unconstitutional as it infringes people’s right to make their own decisions on sex and secrecy and freedom of their private life, violating the principle banning excessive enforcement under the constitution”.

With shares of Unidus Corp, a condom manufacturing company, soaring by 15%, it is evident that the locals have taken the news within their stride.

When it comes to adultery in South Korea, the last five years have seen over 5,000 people accused. In 2014 alone, 900 individuals were arraigned of infidelity.

Justice Park Han-Chul, who also presided the meeting, justifies the aforementioned statistic in his own way. “Even if adultery should be condemned as immoral, state power should not intervene in individuals’ private lives”, Park said.

April 2014 saw South Korea blocking a newly launched hook-up site citing the website threatened family values as the reason. Now, with sex being decriminalised, could the website go live again? Only time will tell that.

Besides South Korea, Japan is another country where sex is decriminalised. In mainland China, though infidelity is not a crime, it is surely a ground for divorce.

The Indian subcontinent has a weird law in regards with adultery; where men face penalty for adultery (five years imprisonment), women cannot be prosecuted for the same crime.

Europe is the only continent where adultery is no longer an offence.

Decriminalising sex will lead to adultery

The statute had defenders in South Korea, who claimed that decriminalising sex would lead to sexual immorality.
