The Intelligent Quotient is exercises that enable to determine the intelligence of a person. Considering the studies made in the last few years it is observed that India is considered as one of the intelligent countries in the world. There are ways to differ the intelligence of the people of the country. India is a country that suffers from poverty and a lack of education. This pulls down the rank of India considering among the intelligent countries.

But on considering the calculation of rank on a worldwide basis it has won Nobel prizes as the smartest countries in the world. While considering the IQ level India stands in rank 80 as the intelligent country.

Does it deserve the 80th rank as one of the intelligent countries?

The IQ level or intelligence depends on certain factors. The Lack of a few of the factors leads to the downfall of the rankings on the global basis of IQ. The different kinds of factors that are involved in determining are as follows:

Nutrition

India is still one of the poor countries of the world that do not have the ability to provide complete nutrition to kids. The poor those who earn on daily basis or below the poverty level suffer from malnutrition.

Government schools provide food to the children below the poverty lines but it is not enough for the children. Malnutrition or lack of nutrition in pregnant women passes the ill nutrition to their Kids. This leads to lower IQ levels of the Indian future.

But classes that are able to provide a complete package of nutrition and care have the best ability to show their IQ level.

Education

The complete scope to acquire education is not accessible to all classes of people. Once again due to the lack of food and earnings, most people have to give up studying at their school level. It has given a great challenge to the future of the people with hardships.

Government colleges or schools are not able to provide the complete amenities necessary for school students. While private institutions are not accessible for all groups of people due to high charges in education.

Health

Lack of nutrition at the early stages of a child leads to health issues as they start growing. Simultaneously they do not have the strength and energy to gain exposure to various unfolded education and skills. That will help in developing the intelligence of the child. This is one of the major reasons that has pushed India down among the intelligent countries.

The culture and the environment of India are unbeatable considering its discipline, rules, and regulation. India has always been famous for its art and culture. But once again it has been bounded to certain educated classes or groups. People suffering from poverty do not have any access to a better environment pushing them towards darkness.

This is one of the reasons that India stands in the 80th ranks despite successful discoveries by Indian scholars in ancient times.

From the start of our career, we look forward to certain preconceptions that may be due to the requirement or fantasy but we make some mistakes.

These mistakes are standstill to few that can make your life stuck at a point. You might be wondering about the faults, but if not done it would have done magic with some addition of miracles.

Your life is predictable as you know that the education that you pursuing is to earn your living. Whatever courses you learn before getting a job is to obtain sometimes good pennies. But what for the rest of the career, you specialize with good experiences as it will help in achieving a good package or salary.

All are predictable, to shine bright, it is always necessary to improve yourself in terms of education, learning, and apply it spontaneously. You will find yourself on motion and never frozen in a particular stage.

All is about money and soul

Money can bring luxury and the foremost the necessity, we earn money for this reason. Whatever we start-up as a career is knowing about the scope of earning the maximum that will fulfill our requirements. You may feel exhausted at a certain point in time as your mind and soul may be looking to involve in other aspects of jobs.

This is the reason mostly at one point in time people become restless and seek for high salary jobs without understanding the fact. Never make the fault that will act as a career barrier when you are bored with the monotonous job profile. Low salary the can satisfy your necessity and soul, you find involving yourself and neve feel tired or bored will escalate the career graph not immediately but steadily.

Understand your skills

No longer are the days that you end up with a top grade graduation certificate and you find a job. Now, you have to be an expert about the job you want to do, different institutions are providing education. Unless you have any strong interest in the field it is impossible to indulge intensely. With the increase of competitors, the workplace competition has up, so don’t allow your place to anyone.

You may never know about when you are ditched and left behind, it will be a major fault in your career.

One of the greatest mistakes or wrong assumptions is to be a ruler after achieving a degree. No, you are not; when you are in a theoretical field of studies the life is different. Remember! Working practically will require a higher ability to the presence of mind and production quality. So, once again you have to start learning, your degree or education certificate will not help in the working field completely.

Commonly these mistakes are observed in all those who are looking forward to pursuing a bright career. But for better career growth you need to think out of box overcoming from the traditional employment theories.

But as the new era is seen in progress a new vision of gesture is observed in the growth of different businesses. Sudden and stable growth is seen in the following industries:

Educational technology

The priority of online educational technology has been realized when the sudden declaration of the classes in the schools and colleges was shut down. It was from here when the importance of joining the online education technology was slowly increasing. When students started to study online as the classes taken by the school teachers. Several online classes on different courses apart from the regular classes are also found such as for music, dance, art forms, and painting classes. No doubt this ed-tech industry will boom in the coming days to an un-imaginary level.

Health Care

No matter in any era as much as technology has been important further high has been the health care and medical industry. In no better or worst situation throughout ancient times to the recent modern era, the business sector of medicine has faced any downfall. Even in the worsening situation of the pandemic in 2020, the greatest demand was of the health care department. Until diseases exist and the new invention of a better medicine to better health are on trials that sector will always boom.

Online Shops

Lockdown and prohibition of the people to come out of the house during 2020, the end of the era has given a rise to the online shopping platform. When people have the scope to get the products at the doorsteps, they are able to purchase all sorts of necessary products. Purchasing all sorts of essential and non-essential products will increase with higher involvement of small entrepreneurs to large industries.

Fashion Industry

When you look back into the history of the business sectors of the fashion Industry the clear mirror of the changes along with the demand of the decades. No decade has a similar influence but each style and trends differ one from another. But any major decline in the industry of fashion was less observed. The upcoming decades will not only launch major brands that are popular over a year but one should be prepared to find the newborn entrepreneurs in the fashion industry.

Independently creative designers in local areas, states, and slowly global brands will be observed booming up with new and exclusive fashion trends.

Beauty And Fitness Industry

When we compare the beauty and fitness industry, it has seen an acceleration in the business graphs for not only for the major brands but also for local beauty as well as fitness sectors. While you are at home or working the requirement of fitness has increased decades for decades. Beauty has equally improved with the requirement and demand. Top competitors are working to provide the foremost products.

In the last decades of the business sector 2020, the steel industry, hospitality, and traveling industry had seen the greatest rise but with the pandemic of COVID-19, these industries have seen a steep fall in the business which will require some time to recover overtime but still fewer chances to stabilize as the above business sectors development.

With the increasing exposure that they have and the increasing demands of academic life, students wish to make more and more of their terms in college. Especially the ones who are way too serious about their education and careers ahead.

And to meet their goals and objectives, their college lecturers, educate them, train them and equip them with essential skills to become the best that they can. Therefore, college lecturers are one of the most important in a student’s life.

But then again, there are good lecturers, there are average and there are bad ones too.

How to identify the good ones from the rest of the lot? You may ask.

Well, here are 6 most important qualities of modern day college lecturer, that can help you to know, understand and make a good bond with the prolific lecturers of your college.

They Are Always Organised

A good lecturer is always organised for self and also helps his students to do the same. This may involve managing all sorts of student records and their results through complicated spreadsheets with large amounts of data. The key for them to do do is getting this right is to be organised from the start of the year.

They Use The Modern Technology Very Effectively

We are in the era where education is largely based on technological devices and online information. And it makes all the more easy for students to connect with each other and their lecturers to share the information. A good lecturer never gets frightened of technology and changing times. They would constantly make an effort to use the technology in the best possible way, no matter what era or age they come from. For students such lecturers are the best friends because they have something tangible to offer to the students that they can access outside class time. Many are intimidated by the format of lectures and seminars and are initially unsure how to collect information from the lecturers, so having the back up of online lectures, digitised research materials, and links to useful websites are always beneficial for students. They also make good use of emails, when they cannot be available personally.

They Are Never Over Prepared For A Class

As much they are updated with latest research and information and are well prepared on their subject, a good lecturer is always wary of bombarding the students with too much of information in one class. Hence, they do not over prepare the lectures and spend too much time writing papers for them. Sensible lecturers rely on their practical knowledge of the subject, rather than the crammed information they just mugged a day before. Which becomes quite evident while they take a class, when they share anecdotes and personal experiences from years gone by. Which makes the lectures all the more interesting.

They Learn Names Quickly And Become Friends With Students

It may seem a minor point, but students really do respond better if a lecturer refers to them by their first name. It shows that they have made a personal connection with the student, they remember them and have paid attention to who they are and what they have to say, and it makes the students more confident about the lecturer. It also has the added bonus of being useful if there are any mischievous students in the class. Lecturers can tackle them directly, owing to the friendly connection they have built with the student. They also are able to help their students better, in the time of crisis. Yet, they keep a respectable distance with the students, never interfering with their personal lives, until the help is really sought.

They Never Over Commit

Good lecturers know their limits and they know how to abide by them. They never become too available to the students and keep providing undue assistance for every small thing. They try to instill the value of independent study in students. They understand that their role is distinctly different to that of a school teacher so they try to get the balance right between showing the care being genuinely interested in the learning of the students. They never over commit and show the students, their real status.

They Are Never Ashamed of Learning From Their Students

A good lecturer always knows that there is ample scope to learn from the students. Modern day students have access to a lot of knowledge and information. Lecturers get some fascinating ideas from their students or something they find interesting might trigger curiosity in them. They welcome all of it enthusiastically and participate energetically in gaining such updates from their students.

To end it all, I would like to say that a good lecturer is the one who always the best interest of his students in place. Always there to impart the best education, knowledge and best advices to his students. And becomes a guide friend when there is a need, giving the valuable guidance for life too.

Hope you find these qualities in your college lecturers.

It becomes their responsibility to have the right curriculum that prepares young impressionable minds to face the world as mature, sensible and sensitive beings who can contribute positively and productively in the nation’s and society’s well-being.

However, the focus today is more on theoretical knowledge that might or might not help in getting a job rather than helping the kids to learn to live a life.

Let me share with you 5 skills that any educational institution must teach the children to enable them to live an independent life.

1) Communication Skills

In our fast-changing world where people interact not only with their neighbours, but all across the globe, communication is the key to solve any problem. A communication gap also leads to major conflicts, whether in a family, relationship or on a country to country basis. Rather than teaching just the theoretical aspects of this skill set, more and more kids should be taught the practicality of it with live examples and should be given grades based on how well they practice it in real life!

2) Presentation Skills

Everybody goes to school, learns to read and write, give exams and then start looking for a job. However, even with the same score, one kid gets a job, another one doesn’t! Sometimes the difference lies in their presentation skills. And mind you, it has nothing to do with money in your pockets. It might play a slight role, but the art of presenting yourself and your thoughts in the most pleasing manner leaves a long lasting impact of you as an individual that requires knowledge and practice of utilising all possible resources at your disposal. Shabbily dressed people or those who don’t understand the importance of leaving a good first impression with physical presence, no matter how intelligent or rich, are never appreciated!

3) Technical Skills

There are certain skills that always come handy, no matter which country, what kind of economy you’re from. The skills of carpentry, plumbing or being an electrician or the ability to make something with your hands always attract a premium. I’m not suggesting these should be your career options, but knowing about them, having a mastery over either or all of them does help in the long run. During bad times when you don’t get an employment of your choice, you can always make do by bringing these skills into practice as a stop-gap arrangement.

4) Financial Aptitude

Earlier generations were brought up on socialism, but now we are moving towards capitalism! Hence, the importance of financial inclusiveness as well as understanding of financial aspects can’t be ignored. Children should be taught from a young age about the importance of fiscal prudence so that they learn not only how to value money, but also how to make more money without getting into a mess! Letting them plan their budgets, pocket money and other expenses can help them get a deeper insight into how money works.

5) Social Behaviour

Parents, family and teachers do teach the basic ethics and morals of how to live an ideal life, but the world is changing and it is no longer only black or white, good or bad! These differences need to be taught to kids so that every child is able to adapt to social order. A blanket cover of teaching these skills will never work as, for example, some kids are introverts and some are extroverts.

For both these types of personality, the world functions in a different manner. Making children learn about society and helping them to adapt accordingly is a must for educational institutions if they want to reduce crime and anti-social elements of the future.

I’m also sailing in your boat and can totally understand the plight of my fellow travellers whose brain is welded in a different manner altogether!

However, I seriously wish that our society, our family and friends understood this!

How badly they want us all to become doctors and engineers and follow the same profession that everyone else is aspiring to be in! Try to imagine a situation where every boy and girl becomes a doctor.

Who will treat whom?

Who will charge money from whom?

Who will cook, who will clean, who will do farming, who will run things that can’t be run by doctors?

Are you getting the drift guys?

Since childhood every person we meet advises us to become doctors and engineers, no matter where our interest lies! Then the whole system of education prepares you to be this learning-by-rote parrot that by the time you are an adult you tend to forget that the area between two ears is used for thinking and imagining and consists of something called a brain! By the time we realize it, we are past the basic education stage and then it becomes harder to re-educate or go for higher education given perpetual time, money and resource deficit!

Therefore, it is very nice to not to be able to score great marks in science and math. That way, your parents will leave any hopes they had on you of pursuing MBBS or some other field related to science. A huge monkey goes off your back once it is proved by your school and teachers and everyone who meets you that you’re not so intelligent and might not be able to cope up with rigorous of medicine field or an engineering stream. A life is saved!

Firstly, your life is saved from doing something that you don’t want to do and secondly of scores of ordinary fellow citizens who might have become your patients if you indeed somehow did become a doctor! Imagine someone wanting to be a cricketer and pushed to become a doctor. He might throw a bouncer inside a patient while conducting the heart transplant or a guy wanting to be an architect might play around with a patient’s interiors for aesthetic values!

That might have been over the top, but the point is sometimes it does pays for not being so blessed with higher IQ! This is not to say that those wanting and really deserving and dreaming to become doctors and engineers should leave their dreams aside and pursue something else. No, it is just that parents and society shouldn’t force every child to pursue only one kind of profession. Everyone is different and there are a lot of possibilities in this world to earn money, make name while following your heart!

Go ahead and prove your intelligence in fields where your heart lies!

And say thanks to not so intelligent people to be pushed into the doctor-engineer-making factory!

However, there are some schools in the world that will shock you and make you rethink about the education!

Here are these:

1) The Boat Schools of Bangladesh

It might sound fun to study in a boat, but these boat schools are made out of necessity due to excessive floods in the country. Started by a non-profit organization called, Shidulai Swanirvar Sangstha, these schools boast of solar power, internet connectivity and libraries! As many as 100 boat schools are floating in Bangladesh empowering the country’s children and helping them make a great future!

2) The Witch School of Salem

Want to study the Witchcraft of Sorcery, Paganism, Wicca, and Divinatory Arts? Look no further! Enrol yourself amongst 40,000 other students in this school based in Salem giving special physical classes to teach you witchcraft. It is based on the same site which was a witness to 200 witch trials from the year 1692 to 1693!

3) Dongzhong Cave School in China

Your village doesn’t have enough resources to make a school? Well, find a cave nearby and start giving education! That’s what the villagers of a poor place in China did so that their children can get educated, even if in a dark and dingy cave. However, the government shut its gates in 2001!

4) River Plate School, Argentina

The students of this school have to manage their studies in a world famous soccer stadium in Buenos Aires. It is a world class stadium and home to famous soccer team Club Atletico while also holding the crown to teach as many as 2000 pupils! Imagine something like this in our own backyard in Wankhede Stadium? Or at Eden Garden?

5) School Of The Future, Philadelphia

Trust Microsoft to do everything differently and on a grand scale. This school is designed by Microsoft for the poor section of society selected through a lottery process and at a cost of $63 million since 2006 is home to so many students carving out a decent future for them. Best part: every kid is given a laptop and education is totally paperless!

6) Burgess Hill School, England

While schools are all about education, some give a different meaning to it by introducing certain aspects to it in the name of social experiment. This school in the 1960’s did exactly that by mirroring the rebellious attitude of the youth of that generation. Hence, taking lessons was voluntary, smoking was allowed, listening to music and wearing sunglasses wasn’t taboo and you could have even taken your pet with you in the class! Sounds fun? Well, the society didn’t consider it fun and hence it closed down! Good experiment though!

7) Gulu Elementary School, China

To reach this school is like making a herculean effort on a daily basis! The kids have to pass through the Luoma Way with sharp turns, narrow rocky passages and risky bridges to reach this school based in Sichuan Province in China. It started in 1980’s to empower a village and as improvement in its basic facilities, boasts of a proper toilet and a basketball court!

8) Harvey Milk High School, New York

This is a school dedicated to the needs of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders who otherwise feel humiliated and cornered in other institutions. Despite being attacked by society, the school survives till date and makes sure it’s students are treated like human beings and are no discriminated for their sexuality.

9) The Train Platform Schools Of India

Inderjit Khurana use to watch children begging while on her way to work on trains. This gave her an idea to start teaching these students on railway platforms between stations. What started as just one school now boasts of teaching 4000 needy children and even taking care of their food and medical needs of their family!

10) Forest Kindergartens, Across Europe

Studying amidst nature is dream come true for many. Enabling students aged 3-6 years are taught in outdoor classrooms helping them learn about nature in the most natural way. Just that kids need to be bit careful as the schools function in summers, winters and every other possible season!

Education has to be fun if it has to generate interest among students. These schools do provide an interesting way to study. Let’s hope more such alternative ways of studying come up to help many of our illiterate brethren come out of the darkness and see the light!

This is an English proverb that originated more than 400 years ago and means that there is no point in wishful thinking unless you put efforts in making those wishes come true. However, what if our wishes are such that they don’t require any action?

Confused?

Let me explain. Now we all have wishes and dreams and desires, but not all of them come true. Also, everyone has a different set of wishes based on their personality and what they want from life. However, there are certain wishes, which almost everyone has, irrespective of the age, colour, sex, caste etc. let me tell you the top four wishes and am sure, you’ll agree with me and will pray for all of them to come true, immediately!

Ready?

Here they are:

1) Earn without working!

Yeah, isn’t this the best wish of all time for everyone on the planet? How super cool it would be to check your bank balance every month and find millions credited in there without you having to lift a finger for earning even a single rupee? Yeah yeah, I can see that wide crazy smile on your face now!

2) Eat without getting fat!

This one is for ladies! However, it can apply to health conscious men as well. The best thing to happen is for you to be able to eat anything and everything of your choice without worrying about gaining weight or excessive fat! Imagine eating a king size burger in the lunch followed by a double scoop of your favourite ice-cream and dinner offers you a large pizza with cold drinks while you laze away on the couch watching your favourite tv shows! Do I hear you say, a dream life?

3) Love without getting hurt!

How we all wish for this particular wish to come true! Love brings so much of happiness, but with it is the possibility of an extreme amount of pain as well! Somehow there should be some magic that love leads to only happiness and more love with no scope of pain in it! Breakup or no breakup! Period. As a matter of fact, nowadays with most people changing their partners faster than they change their underwear, this wish already seems to be coming true. In the morning you fall in love, by afternoon you break up and in the evening you have another love by your side! Where’s the pain, right?

4) Be smart without studying!

If only education made someone smarter! Even then, basic education is important to live in the society, but then that shouldn’t be the criteria to be smart or an idiot! Given the state of our country, so many politicians, film-stars, government servants are highly educated, but are they smart? Far from it actually! Therefore, common sense and smartness should be gifted by nature and shouldn’t have to do anything with studies!

Well, these are some of the wishes I think we all want. Jokes apart, if these come true, world would definitely be a better place to live in, don’t you think so?

If you have any more wishes, share with us guys! Let’s help each other fulfill all our wishes!

Girls have outperformed boys as usual and there are so many kids who have scored in high 90’s with this year’s topper M Gayatri scoring a mind blogging high percentage of 99.2%!

Feeling proud of our nation? Is this giving you a sense of accomplishment that the good days are around, our kids are getting good education and soon these toppers will bring a change in the society? Well, there is never a tax on wishes, right?

Let’s get practical guys. Only a few of these kids have scored these high marks and there is no guarantee that all these toppers are genuine learners and not the masters of rote-type of learning ingrained in our psyche for past so many decades! The world is changing very fast and what we need as a nation are the youth who can adapt fast, learn fast and use their own heads instead of following a herd mentality. They should be able to take their own decision rather than being given books to rote from and vomit it out on an exam answer sheet!

Compared to the tried and tested education system based in school, home education or homeschooling as it is called in the west is gaining ground with lots of advantages. It is like education is also evolving and it makes sense to move with the change rather than resist it.

Homeschooling is a concept where the parents take responsibility of teaching their children at home and only those subjects which are important for the overall development of the child based on his/her interests and aptitude. Not only that, the personal attention given to the child helps him learn faster in a comfortable friendly environment away from the bullies, strict teachers etc. Not all kids are bullies or all teachers are bad, but studying from life rather than mugging the notes is always better to prepare a child for the challenges in life.

We all agree that all those subjects and topics that we studied in school are hardly of any use in our day to day life. In fact most of us don’t even remember what we studied in school! So why to pass on the same dated system to the next generation? It would be better if our education boards and policies of the education ministry align itself with the concept of home schooling so that those who prefer it can take advantage of it without being away from the main system. It could be something like studying at home and then giving exams to test their knowledge in subject which they want to pursue in their life. Grading can happen accordingly and the admission procedure in various colleges and institutes can integrate this way of schooling as well.

It is not easy in such a big country like ours, but not impossible! Efforts have to be put in to bring up thinking individuals who can utilize brains instead of servants taking orders!

We are born intelligent; don’t let outdated education models make us dumb as we grow up!

I am sure this is going to bring a clear sense of understanding and some inspiration to get up and start walking.

“I’ve grown up in a red light area, surrounded by the flesh trade all my life.

At 12, I’ve been asked for my ‘rate’ and cried myself to sleep because I didn’t understand it.

But you want to know what’s worse?

It’s that the men who came to ask would all be from the ‘upper class’ as you call it with shiny cars and the perception that they could ‘buy’ anything. But the women there, are my family…they’ve taken care of me when my mother would have to go work at a factory nearby and treated with me so much love and kindness, but I still grew up with a very low self esteem because of my dark colour.

I don’t know why you have to be fair to be beautiful…and because I’m dark I’ve always been called ugly. Once my 12th standard ended, I decided to make a change. I told the people at my Municipal school that I wanted to study, learn English and make something of myself.

That’s when I went to an organization called Kranti.

I spent the next year, travelling across India conducting workshops on sex education, and that’s when I realized that not everyone judges me for my background and kind of got my self esteem back.

I’ve always been a day dreamer, so I randomly just said it out loud one day that I want to go America (at that point I didn’t even know if it was a continent, a city or a country) and through Kranti’s efforts I got a full scholarship at Bard College to study Liberal Arts. We crowd sourced the rest of the money for my accomodation and day to day expenses and my life has just turned around…I’ve been to semester at Sea, I speak fluent English and have amazing entrepreneurial ideas to make a difference to my home…to Kamathipura.

Yes, open your mind about my home. Accept that people have choices and know that so many women there are in it by choice…because it’s their source of livelihood. As Indians, we need to judge less and accept things that are not always in our comfort zone, because my background is not my weakness…

I’m me, and no location can define who I am.”

Don’t we all shackle ourselves in the false limitations of our circumstances and situations?

Don’t we know that we can be what we want to be, only if we start taking few steps forward?

Don’t we just keep doing nothing and blame the situations and outer factors for our own failures?

Well, this story makes me believe all that and much more!!
