Living in the 21st century, our life is becoming more and more hectic.

Our mornings are spent in sending the kids to school, packing lunch for your husband and yourself. We are so caught up and busy in the mornings that we don’t have the time to think about what to prepare for breakfast. So we tend to keep it simple with cornflakes and sometimes eggs.

Some of even feel like ordering from restaurants or having menu’s set in the kitchen.

Do you want to make a healthy breakfast for your family?

Keep your worries and tensions aside as here are some breakfast suggestions we have for you. One for each day will ensure a different breakfast every day.

BATATA POHA

Let’s start off the week with this traditional Maharashtrian dish called Batata Poha. It is an easy to make recipe having two benefits – rich in iron and quick to make! An ideal breakfast, it shuns away hunger and increases energy levels. Poha, potatoes, lime and onion are play in important role in this dish and adds to its flavor. This meal would be complete with a glass of juice and voila! Your first dish is ready.

Method:
Wash the poha and keep to dry aside for the water to drain out.
In a non-stick pan, heat the oil and add cumin and mustard seeds. Wait till the seeds open up and add curry leaves and green chillies.
Add onions to this mixture and wait till it turns golden brown.
Later add the potatoes, salt, turmeric powder and a little water for the potato to cook.
Add the poha and a little sugar to give the sweet taste and a pinch of salt and stir well.
Once ready, garnish with coriander and sprinkle lemon juice.
This will ensure a breakfast filled with iron and vitamin C.

ALOO PARATHA

From Maharashtra, we travel to the North of India and visit Punjab to feast in their specialty – Aloo Paratha. Punjabi’s are known for their rich and heavy meals and the aloo paratha is no less. The word aloo itself states the dish is made out of potato, which ensures a heavy meal. The dish would be complete when it is served hot
with melted ghee and dipped in chilled yogurt or your favorite pickle.

Since making aloo paratha would take time, we would suggest to boil the potatoes the previous night to ensure fast cooking in the morning.

Method:
Kneed your normal chapatti dough and keep aside.
Mash the boiled potatoes and add a little bit of masala’s used in your every day cooking to give that added flavor to your dish.
Divide your dough into equal portions and roll a portion of the dough. Place a little stuffing of mashed potatoes in the centre of your chapatti. Bring the sides of
the rolled chapatti and close making a small pod.
Roll the entire pod as if you are making a chapatti
In a non-stick pan, heat oil/ghee and shallow fry the paratha.
Serve immediately as it tastes better when hot.
Isn’t this easy to make as well as a healthy meal? This would total up to 50-100 calories but do not worry. A little bit of everything makes up an entire wholesome
meal.

SOUTH INDIAN DELICACIES

From up North, let’s head straight down South and feast in to the wonderful delicacy of South India. Rice is their staple food and includes starch. So different and tasty dishes have evolved like idli, dosa and uttapam. A South Indian delicacy would never be complete without sambar and the famous chutney. These dishes can be easily made at home and since it’s filling, you wouldn’t have to worry about feeling hungry immediately.

Apart from these, another dish would be upma. While this is not made out of rice but it’s made out of suji. An upma would go well with the traditionally green chutney to enjoy the flavors of the dish.

A South Indian dish is never complete without the traditional sambar and chutney so do not forget to include this in your breakfast.

SABUDANA KHICHDI

Now let’s go from South and visit the West of India by dropping into our Gujarati neighbors’ house. It’s Sabudana Khichdi. This traditional dish is mostly made during
the fasting days of Navrati or Mahashivratri or Ekadashi. It’s a good inclusion to your daily breakfast plight. It’s healthy and best had alone!

Method:

Wash the sago well and soak it overnight (or min 3hours). By the morning, the water would have got absorbed by the sago. So it’s time to cook.
Roast peanuts till they become crisp, set aside and powder the peanuts.
Mix the powdered peanuts, salt and sugar to the soaked Sabudana.
In a vessel, heat oil and crackle the cumin seeds. Add green chillies and fry for a minute. Add the chopped boiled potatoes and stir for 2minutes.
Add the Sabudana to the above and cook stirring continuously.
Garnish with coriander leaves and add lime juice.
Easy, isn’t it?

DALIYA

If you want to have an English breakfast in desi style, then Daliya is your best friend! This traditional North Indian dish is made out of wheat grains and is a
substitute for rice. This makes for a delicious healthy breakfast.

Method:
Heat the oil/ghee in a pressure cooker.
Splutter the cumin
Add chopped onions and stir
Add the chopped ginger and green chillies. Saute some more time.
Add tomato and sauté for a minute
Add the chopped carrots and potatoes to the mixture
Keep stirring
Add the soaked dalia and stir for 4-5minutes
Add 3-4 cups of water and salt and pressure cook for 8-10minutes
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot

Your English Desi oat meal is ready and healthy to eat. 50-100calories is what you would consume but if consumed a healthy meal, you’re good to go!

So your daily plight is now fixed. You have a new meal every day. So now, in spite of the busy schedules, the above suggestions would be your one stop guide for your daily dose of breakfast meals.

If you visit this place, grab your share of the rolls and milkshake, and walk upto the jetty. Sit and hog facing the sea to experience a pleasant evening.

JAMPORE BEACH

Just as Goa, Daman too is famous for its beaches. Out of the many, Jampore is the place to visit while at your stay in Daman. You would have to cross a bridge over the sea (which is a replica of North-South bridge of Goa) to witness the natural beauty. While relaxing under the shade of the local shacks set up along the beach, you can lick your fingers and indulge into some fried fish marinated in local Daman masala by the fisherwoman.

DEVKA BEACH

Want to indulge in some delicious Punjabi food along with the feel of sitting at a local dhaba? Then Veer-da-Dhaba has to be your next stop. A complete feel of a local dhaba along with mouth-watering dishes, the place also serves alcohol and hookah. Yes you read right Hookah! Although it is banned in Mumbai, you could enter into a food-orgasm while hogging on the dishes. Television plays an integral part of every Indian’s life.

We are so caught up with the hustle and bustle at work; that when we return home, we just expect the idiot box to shower us with some entertainment.

Among the various television channels on television, SAB TV in particular has promised to focus only on laughter as entertainment, rather than those sobbing Soap Operas!

From the different shows aired on SAB, Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma, has been entertaining the audience since five years. Initially the show seemed interesting; but the constant repetition, failed to impress the audience.

Personally, I too am fed-up of watching one particular show being aired throughout the day with the same old repetitive episodes.

But what has made me get to this level? Here are the reasons…

Daya’s Garba

Every celebrity, who comes to endorse their film never, leaves Gokuldham society without a gharba move by Jethalal’s wife Daya. Her moves haven’t changed making it all the more boring to see her dance the same steps and run around the place in excitement, every time she expresses her happiness.

Jethalal and Babita

The expression of Jethalal’s fondness for Babita is old and uncalled for. If he is a married man and hits on his so called hot neighbour, are the society people dumb with his tricks to keep Babita happy? Couldn’t they come up with a better concept?

Forever into problems

Every evening when you tune into SAB TV at 8:30 pm, Taarak Mehta has a new problem to solve. But their problems are so easy and simple, that there is no big a deal to make it such a big issue. If the show focuses on the life of the common man, they should realise, problems and circumstances are not that easy to fix.

Jethalal’s to the rescue

Jethalal is the owner of an electronic shop; not the owner of a multinational company. Every time the society falls into trouble, Jethalal is the one to pay off the bill. Seriously! Jethabhai, why don’t you lend those fortunes to us? We will accept them with open arms.

Party

Each time the men want to go for a party, they always fall into trouble – either they get caught by their wives or either some man from the group falls into trouble. But when they get caught, apologies flow galore. I fail to understand – are they asking men not to drink and party or are they trying to say ‘Speak the truth’

When news about Priyanka Chopra, playing the role of a boxer, Mary Kom, did the rounds, I wasn’t taken by surprise.

Priyanka is known for her versatile roles and she does complete justice to the character.

Mary not only made herself but her country proud by winning an Olympic medal in the 2012 games and is ranked No. 4 AIBA Women’s Ranking Flyweight.

This film will be a tribute to India’s woman boxer, Mary Kom – her life will be portrayed in a biographical film directed by Omung Kumar, starring Priyanka Chopra in a leading role.

Priyanka is a versatile actor. Since the inception of her career, she has never been seen doting similar roles. She has pushed herself to her limits and has never failed. Kareena has opted out of projects like Fashion, Page 3, Ram-Leela, etc only to star in a film like Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, which was produced by her friend, Karan Johar. Initially, she also stated that she would not do item numbers. But she couldn’t stick to her tongue, and is now featuring in another item song, due to a request from a friend. She never turns down projects by friends, but she turns down good films! Wow Kareena, you surely have a good taste where films are concerned.

Acting with my lovers works

When featuring in films that star her love interests, they surely make heads turn, due to the controversies attached with the film. She’s acted in films with Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor, who were her then partners. During her break-up with Shahid, she found solace in the company of chote nawab, Saif Ali Khan, started dating him in Tashan,carried forward their relationship for Qurbaan and has now carried forward that romance into marriage. While she is off the notion that her real life partners click on reel, sorry Kareena you do better with non-romantic partners!

Although Kareena Kapoor is the highest paid actor, she needs to get out of her shell and embrace new kind of cinema. We are fed-up watching her stereotype roles!

That Sonakshi Sinha was voluptuous in her teens is something we all are aware of. But did you know that she initially intended on becoming a fashion designer.

With Salman Khan being her mentor and guide, she lost oodles of weight and made her acting debut in one of Bollywood’s top grosser – Dabangg! 

Having starred in films like Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardaar, Dabangg 2, and gaining attention from not only industry insiders, but also film critics and fans for her performance in Lootera is something I would admire her for. 

Though she kept faking her desire to slim down, she never let it show up on reality shows or her interviews. Have you ever wondered why did? Let’s dig through. 

Girl next door roles

From her debut film itself, she was given the title of the girl next door as she has always been taken for roles that don a saree and give her a look of being a typical Indian house-wife. Although in some roles, she did appear as a female wrestler, I like her in Dabbang where she played a girl always in a saree, doting shyness from her lover. 

Competition in the industry

If you want to stick in the Bollywood industry, you have to have a slim figure that is acceptable not only to the filmmakers, but as well as to the audience. Sonakshi is fed-up of the image she set herself as in Bollywood, and wants to break the ice. In my opinion, maybe she too wishes to be amongst those actors who are considered a filmmaker’s favourite.   

Rivalry with other actors

Deepika has upped her game and has entered the 100cr club, Katrina featured in Dhoom 3 which was among the all time favourites in Bollywood, touching the 300cr mark. Initially, this was Sonakshi’s playground, which is now been taken over by other actors. This might have not gone well with the Rowdy Rathore girl, as they have entered her space. If she too looses weight and attains a perfect figure, she will once again be the all time favourite of filmmakers. 

Par with Sonam Kapoor

Sonakshi continues to be looked upon as the desi girl; but if she loses weight, she would also be seen in attires designed by the premium fashionistas in the country. Although she did a Pantaloon campaign about two year back, her fashion sense has never been appreciated. A makeover would surely bring her in the limelight! 

The actor is happy about her slim and trim look, as gym has never been her best friend.

We like her features but her close-to manly appearance did not go well with the viewers. A makeover is something we were looking forward to.

The bestseller book by Chetan Bhagat is being rolled into a movie with the same name as the book, and is releasing on 18^th April 2014.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar, the film is directed by Abhishek Varman and stars the Kapoor lad Arjun along with his alleged lady love, Alia from the Bhatt clan, in lead roles.

The film’s story isn’t really something we aren’t aware of.  The tale of non-acceptance of inter caste marriages in our country and falling for somebody from another state / caste, has been in the cinemas since the inception of Indian cinema. I am guessing that you don’t require any further briefing about the plot. We all are quite familiar with the ‘happy ending’ of a Bollywood story.

While the film will touch upon a serious concern in our country, why is there so much of a hue and cry about this film? These could be the possible reasons…

Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor’s link up

While many stated Arjun was like a kabab mein haddi  between Varun and Alia, those rumours went away with the wind. Don’t you think this twenty one year old  is moving fast with each  film she delivers? While Alia denied the rumours about seeing Arjun, on Koffee with Karan, they were seen at many private events and parties cozying up and enjoying each other’s company. Even, I am quite eager to know whether they can pull off their off screen chemistry to the big screen.

Alia Bhatt’s acting capability

Is it just me or even you recollect Alia as the blonde bimbette of Student of the Year? In spite of gaining positive remarks from industry insiders as well as film critics for Highway, I still do not see a change in her acting skills. In some parts of the trailer, she still appears as the girl from SOTY. The only difference in her acting is would be the steamy scene with Arjun. That is something that could change our opinion.

Arjun’s fame post Gunday

Although Gunday was all about Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra, Arjun played his part of being a side actor very well, in spite of Ranveer stealing the limelight. The success of the film did bring this Kapoor lad to our notice but the fame was short lived. Arjun has never been that kind of an actor who’s gone off his way to promote a film. But post his acting in Gunday, I would surely love to see his avatar as a love guru.

Chetan Bhagat’s novel

It’s high time we drift our focus and make real films rather than creating them from Mr. Bhagat’s novels. He is one writer whose books always gain attention due to their controversies, and film makers use this to their advantage making a film out of it. Gosh! We are fed up now. Chetan Bhagat is old school. We need something new and different to blow off our minds.

 Excellent Social Networking Team

The social networking team of 2 States is doing a good job when it comes to promoting the film on various social networking sites. Be it a song release or a contest or even stills from the movie, the team is surely gaining people’s attention, especially due to their official Facebook page. Maybe not for the above points, but I am looking forward to the movie, mostly because of the promotions flooding my Facebook wall, time and again.

It would be interesting to see an alleged couple, act according to a producer, who’s an ace in portraying films based on romance; with a writer whose all controversy driven novels earn him big bucks.

Bollywood- the name says it all.

While the competition to become rich and famous has always intrigued us- the commoners, those who have it in their genes, did not really have to dig their brains to get through.

While there are hundreds out there, who step into this acting pool- the city of dreams, as they call it, many of the actors we die to watch onscreen, did not really think about a career in it.

But it was what one would call it – ‘Luck by chance’ or ‘Destiny’ these actors not only entered the ‘tinsel town’ but left their impression on the cinema lovers. Let’s take a look at the stars who were of the opinion that acting is not really a big deal…

I can’t really imagine this beauty as an architect. Perhaps, the sight of her wearing that yellow ceramic cap, working on construction sites, just doesn’t fit my mind. She is intelligent and can influence the minds of many people, not only in India but around the world. So, wouldn’t you have just loved to see a beautiful and mesmerizing leader as her? Sigh! How I wish…

2. Kareena Kapoor Khan:-
Born with a silver spoon in mouth and acting in genes, cinema came naturally to this Kapoor beauty. Surprisingly, studies influenced her and she intended on pursuing law. As Sonam Kapoor said, “Kareena is the Pink Ville of Bollywood,” which option would she choose? Guess, I’d rather prefer to read her gossip columns in Vogue rather than reading about her in the TOI fighting a legal battle!

3. John Abraham:-
The heartthrob of a number of young girls out there, never really intended on a taking up a career in acting, as he holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics and a MMS from Narsee Moniee Institute of Management Studies to his credit. He has even worked with an advertising agency. I’m sure that the agencies’ profits must have soared high back then. But I’d rather drool over seeing him hanging out half-naked from a moving bus. Yes, that comes from Shoot Out at Lokhandwala.

4. Priyanka Chopra:-
Although her parents belonged from a medical background, she set off to US to pursue a career either in either software engineering or as a criminal psychologist. Thank God for her mom enrolled her into a beauty pageant. But wouldn’t you want to see a hot, sexy and bold criminal psychologist? I think, I could commit a crime to meet her later, rather than bearing with her endeavours in acting and now singing.

5. Parineeti Chopra:-
Moving to London for studies, receiving a triple honours degree in business, finance and economics, I wonder what motivated her to take up acting as a career. Maybe, economic recession. Living with her cousin, I am sure, would have made a solid influence on her and bang on she follows PC’s footsteps. I wouldn’t really be surprised if she starts singing too. I believe she would make an amazing Indira Nooyi- part 2 or Parineeti Chopra-part 1. What do you say?

Off lately the Indian team hasn’t been performing well especially the bowlers.

At the Asia Cup, the bowlers let the team down.

In spite of the bowler’s poor performance at the Asia Cup, captain MS Dhoni was not worried or disappointed. On the contrary, he has backed his bowlers to perform well at the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh and is extending his support for them to perform and bring back their lost charm. He believes that the team consists of bowlers who have played even at the Indian Premier League (IPL) and are experienced in playing in similar conditions and they have played and teamed up with the world’s best players.

MS Dhoni has a plan and will execute it from paper to the field to remove the tagline of being criticized. Dhoni further added that the tournament will be a good challenge and a learning experience for his bowlers as well as batsmen.

India will play their first match against Pakistan at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur on 21^st March 2014.
