Nothing in the world can beat the feeling of spending some quality time with your buddies over drinks and chakna (generally comprises of salted peanuts).

No matter how different is a guy from other, five large pegs down and they’re on it- the drunken guy talk.

Accompany your guy group for a drink and you’re bound to find them talk about these…

Drinking –

College Days

Drinks are served. Conversation starts with how are things faring at workplace. And triggers to their fond memories of college days. How they bunked classes, how they triple seated on the bike and were saved in time when they fell off, how much did they hang out with each other, which faculty hated them the most…and the list is endless. But it’s fun to listen to them narrate stories of their college days.

Jobs

No matter what sector they’re engaged with, they never fail to share each other’s frustration in their respective jobs. Especially the ones engaged with corporate sector.

Girls and Girlfriends

Now, you cannot expect boys to NOT talk about girls when they are together and drunk. Everytime they say college they talk about girls. How from being just a friend she became a girlfriend, how his life got spoilt when they got committed, and how badly did he want to get rid of her tantrums. The ill speaking depends on the amount of drunkenness they possess.

Politics

Politics is the new cool. Few more drinks down and they talk of Indian politics and how they always wanted to bring about a change. Be it Kejriwal’s resignation or Modi’s campaign, they talk of politicians as if they were their childhood buddies and are aware of all their strategies. What about Rahul Gandhi you ask? Nope. They don’t talk about him even when drunk (wink).

But then there’s always that friend who has no clue about what he is talking. You talk of Modi, Kejriwal and Rahul, and he sees that UFO that just flew over all of them.

Dreams

Done with the drinking session, they always want a late night stroll that makes them feel lighter. And, incase they happen to cross an actor’s or cricketer’s lavish bunglow, you get to know what were their respective dreams- Ek din mera bhi aisa ghar hoga, chaar gaadiyan hongi aur aage peeche kaam karne wale log. I fondly remember a drunk batch mate of mine telling me about his plans of making his son a footballer and daughter a fashion designer.

Drinking – Along with never accepting that they’re drunk, even if they pass out, and talking compulsorily in English when they’re high, boys are fun to be with when drunk.

However, when it comes to house-parties, things are very different compared to a party in a club or a disco. A house party is a more private affair with a limited set of people whom you really want to spend time with. Therefore, it becomes absolutely necessary that you act as a great host and ensure that your house party becomes talk of the town!

Let me give you some basic tips to make you rock as a house party host:

1) Guest List

This is the first thing to consider when hosting a party. Be very careful while inviting people to your house as you want a party, not a ruckus! Also, make a proper balance of people for it to be entertaining for everyone. Inviting only heavy drinkers or majorly sobers, majority of extroverts or introverts can make or break your party. A perfect mix of your friends will ensure that everyone has fun without making the party a dull affair or a nightmare!

2) Party Time

Some people are always punctual even for a party and some are always going to be late! In case you don’t want guests walking in your door when you’ve not even taken a shower for the party or watching guests still walking in when you’re getting ready for the work day the next morning, plan your party start time carefully. For those who work according to the clock, tell them the party starts at 10 pm if you plan to start at 8pm. And for those late comers, invite them at 8 pm! You got the idea, right?

3) Food And Drinks

This is one of the most important aspects for a house party. Make sure there is enough food for everyone and a good variety as well. Don’t forget the vegetarians and don’t order basic stuff for vegans while having a lavish extravaganza for non-vegetarians! Have a balance! As far as drinks are concerned, have a good mix of soft and hard drinks. Be careful though, about guests getting drunk and creating nuisance. Avoid inviting such guests who have a history of being not able to control their drinking so that the party remains an enjoyable affair for your other guests!

4) Good Music

Don’t make it too loud and jazzy the way it is in pubs so as not to disturb neighbours. However, music should have enough variety to cater to different tastes at different times of the party. Starting with peppy numbers to bring life to party, it should turn down to slow soothing kinds when party is about to end.

5) Introduce People

Not all your guests are going to know each other. Hence, introduce people to each other and then leave them to interact further and have a good time. Don’t let any introvert or shy friend of yours sitting all alone in a room full of people while you babysit him!

6) How To End

You can’t ask people to go once party is over, but drop subtle hints that it is time to go now without being in their face. Some of the things that you can do are start clearing the trash, switching on regular lights for a home kind of ambience, reducing the volume of music and things like that. Most of the guest will get their hints!

7) Don’t Drink

You’re the host! You have to stay sober to take care of your guests, entertain them and take care of them, therefore don’t get sloshed and forget that it is you who invited them and not the other way round! Even if you have to drink, stay much within limits and be a social drinker for that one night, which you want everyone to remember for your hosting skills!

Go ahead and have an amazing time with friends. Work hard and party harder!

Who to listen to? To his heart that wants adventure, excitement and fun or to his mummy ji, who only wants a sober, decent, homely life for him? Unable to select between the two due to his conditioning from the stone-age era, he makes poor decisions and suffers his whole life with a life partner not fit for him!

Are you able to find your own life’s story in this?

I can understand as we all are in the same boat, well almost!

Look, nobody has seen heaven or hell, all that we have is our life on earth and it has to be spent happily while enjoying and having fun!

However, what most of us men do when it comes to selecting a girlfriend is we go for the so-called ‘bad’ girl of the society. Now how do you define ‘bad’? As per the double standards of our society, any girl who smokes, drinks, wears clothes that hardly cover her body and talks to boys or flirts with them is a bad girl! Simple! Now you must be wondering almost all men of our country do these things so are we all ‘bad’? Nah, these stupid rules are only for women, we men are the direct prasad of God to rule the planet! Hah!!

Anyways, so we men basically choose these girls as our girlfriends because we connect with them, we have a good time with them and somehow our sensibilities match. In short, we connect! You would think this is what is required in a life partner, that connection that will help to sail through the ups and lows of life, right? Wrong! This is not what our society teaches us! It says; go for the girls who despite seeking fun are domesticated by their over-zealous and over-protective parents, those girls who are only taught to grow up to be wives and mothers and servants of a family instead of becoming individuals and living an independent life! Can they give you fun? Yes, definitely, but not the kind of fun you may seek. You may want to travel the world; she may just want to raise the kids! You may have certain dreams and ambitions, her goal might only be to get the best out of her maid!

It is not that good girls don’t have bad aspects about their personalities or bad girls are like a black spot on the society. The whole thing is that this whole definition of good and bad is outdated, hypocritical and nauseating to the core! Goodness and badness of a human being are to be judged by the purity of their heart and soul, by their honesty, loyalty and such other ethics that make humans different from animals!

Therefore, stop being such an ass and classifying girls as good or bad! Girls are girls and should be loved, respected and treated equally as human beings, nothing more, nothing less! Choose the one who completes you and who you can complete and then take the most important decision of your life. It’s only one life, after all, right?

Live it on!

I have always been cheated by others and my circumstances have worked against me!

The whole world is conspiring against me to bring me down!

Are you used to hearing such statements?

Or may be uttering these words quite often in life?

Do you know who is your enemy?

Let me put one thing very bluntly: you and only you are responsible for the life that you have!

Good, bad, ugly, beautiful, worst whatever it is; you are only responsible for it.

And this way, you are your own enemy for not living the kind of life you only dream of living!

How many of us claim to know about latest smart phones, gadgets, cars etc? And now, how many of us can claim to know ourselves, in and out? Our desires, the root cause of our anger, jealousy, insecurities?

I’m sure you got what I’m saying, right?

We are always living on the outside, but never inside. We feel sad and we can’t handle it so we start drinking. We feel angry and we don’t know how to control it so we get violent with our near and dear ones. We feel insecure and less confident about ourselves so we go ahead in sabotaging someone else’s career. We do many such things simply because we don’t know our inner self and instead of spending painful amount of time and energy to find the real “us”, we take the easy path: blame others!

We all are accused of this.

Running after astrologers, blaming family, colleagues etc for all the ailment sin our life makes our life go in circles only. Instead of breaking the pattern and growing, we keep blaming others, keep suffering and again blame others or circumstances for the rut we are in!

It is high time for us take responsibility of ourselves and our actions.

Knowing the world is the easiest thing, knowing yourself is the most difficult thing, but only that can help you grow in life.

To achieve all your dreams, you have to know your fears, your desires, your dark side, your good side, just about everything! And frankly speaking, one life isn’t enough to know your own self inside out! It is an ever going process which you have to follow if you want to be happy!

There will be many opportunities in your life to correct your path. Only thing is to grab them at this very instant!

Make you your best friend, not enemy by denying the opportunity to know you! Don’t be dependent on materialistic crutches to bail you out of troubles.

All the power is in your hands and within you!

Use it judicially and live your life, your way!

And rightly so because it is never easy to read a woman’s mind and we all have several questions to ask her! Especially in a case like this wherein a smoking-drinking girl with minimalist clothes is concerned, the urge to know what she wants or trying to tell you is of monumental proportions!

Now control your testosterone jumping here and there!

This kind of a girl who is so commonly visible in all kinds of parties all around the town across the nation isn’t a very complicated soul. She is pretty simple and straightforward and easily comes direct to the point.

You are getting excited, aren’t you?

Yeah, I know! I can sense your breathing becoming faster, eyeballs jumping out of the socket and eager to know what she wants from you!

Well, if she met you in person, she would just come to you, look in your eyes, flip her long hair back and would simply say: MIND YOUR OWN BLOODY BUSINESS!!

Exactly!!

Enough of objectifying her and considering her “EASY” just because she is living her life, her way, on her terms!

And no, don’t even start lecturing about the great Indian culture and morals and ethics for they are not applicable only for women to follow, but the onus to follow them lies on men too.

Do men follow them?

Most of the men can’t give an honest answer to that as they are only taught such morals in school books to prepare for weekly exams and then to be forgotten the very next moment!

A girl wearing such clothes and drinking and smoking is not a prostitute! She has had a long and hard day at work, just like her male counterparts and is trying to have a great time enjoying the simple pleasures of life, which she chose as per her freedom of choice. It doesn’t mean that she is inviting any man or the so-called custodians of society to pass a remark on her or consider her as a “loose character” who can easily be taken to bed!

It is high time that we as a society give respect and space to every girl/woman to live her life the way she deems fit, just like any human being is allowed to live.

Those who agree with it are already the mature lots!

Those who felt disappointed with the answer, better go home and ask your parents to again teach you the lessons you should have learnt in your childhood to become a sensible, intelligent and responsible human being!

Girls, live your life, freely!
