Her positive actions will not only impact Europe and Middle-Eastern nations, but also India as it would make our neighbourhood a relatively calmer and peaceful place so that we can focus on our growth.

America is undergoing a sea change in their sensibilities as a nation.

After decades of rule by the white-skinned leaders, the country gave a chance to first Black President, Barack Obama in 2008 and then re-elected him in 2012 for another four years!

How his rule changed America is a matter of debate, but in the next elections, a prominent candidate is going to be Hillary Clinton and as of today, the country seems inclined to embrace her as the first female president.

Given such positive and flexible changes in the mindsets of the average American voter, why can’t we expand our horizons and imagine an Indian American occupying the top post? If a country where black people worked as slaves for centuries can make a black person its president, there is definitely a possibility of an Indian having an equal opportunity. As a race, we have already proved that we are hard-working, well educated, responsible and peace-loving people. Indians are contributing significantly to the country’s political, economic and social capital. The country’s 19^th Surgeon General is an Indian, Dr. Vivek Murthy!

A Lot of politicians have won and re-won their elections with the likes of Bobby Jindal, Manan Trivedi, Kamala Harris, Nikki Haley regularly hogging the limelight for their precious contribution to social life.

The list is way too long if we include Indians involved in various other sectors like IT, business, entertainment, law etc.

Even if we are a mere 1% of the entire population of America, we are still one of the highest educated ethnic groups with the highest per capital income and become a major source of funding for both Democrats and Republicans! It is no mean task given that despite being second to people of Chinese descent, we command more respect from average Americans.

The factor which can work in our favour against the Chinese is the mutual distrust between the two countries. Hence the average American may find it bit difficult to let a Chinese become their President. Apart from that, no other race is as strong, well connected, well established and so very well integrated with the American life as ours! It becomes easier to run for the top post when you are considered a part of the culture and society rather than just being termed as an outsider or an immigrant.

May be 2016 is too early for an Indian to run for the presidency, but the day probably doesn’t look too far when we might read the headlines: An Indian American becomes the President of the USA!

America is a land of equal opportunities!

Let’s hope someone amongst us gets an opportunity to serve the world’s superpower!

This was an event dinner like no other!

Not only did President of the United States, Barack Obama prove that he is actually the coolest politician in the world, the POTUS also revealed his existential angst against many social issues in a unique way – hiring an ‘anger translator’!

Anger Translator For A President? WTF!

Say hello to Luther, the official anger translator for the POTUS who tries to demystify and decode the real meaning behind the POTUS’s articulate and polite speeches.

Luther was played by Keegan Michael-Key, a brilliant comic and stand-up artist who has been part of several shows like Saturday Night Live! The Kay and Peele Show, Sesame Street and Whose Line is it Anyway?

The world was introduced to ‘Luther’ for the first time at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner which is hosted as a thank you to the media of the United States.

Little did the media-persons know that the POTUS was going to hit some funny quips and jabs back at them this time (not himself, via his ‘anger translator’). 😛

The POTUS’s brilliant comic timing coupled with Keegan’s hilarious screams and antics was lovely to watch! You can watch the video on YouTube here:

The Luther character is an iconic one that was played on the Key & Peele show which shows the President having an anger translator for himself. On the show, Keegan-Michael Key plays the utterly emotive and overboard Luther to Jordan Peele and his reserved Prez. Obama.

Peele’s Obama is calm and collected and Key says everything that is on his mind on behalf of the President, that is what happened in reality too! 😛

How The Speech Went…

Not only was this LIVE speech hilarious but politically apt too! It even poked fun at Vice President Joe Biden’s unsolicited holdings and the Democrats losing out badly in the present senate.

President Obama has been in office for 7 years and reflected on things that are left to do… His bucket list comment was hilarious! The line was, “Take executive action on immigration? Bucket. New climate regulations? Bucket. It’s the right thing to do.”

The speech worked brilliantly in portraying the ‘other side’ of Obama, the human side which also feels bad when his name his maligned in the media for things out of his control like CNN’s outrageous portrayal of the recent Ebola scare in the US and California’s drying lands.

Not only did ‘Luther’ translate Obama’s calm statements with aplomb, he managed to break the regular monotony of the dinner too which is usually boring and compulsory for the President to attend since he is at the helm of the White House.

The funniest part was when Obama suddenly loses his cool over the climate change allegations and people who deny it. Not only did Obama snap at the translator, he told him that his services won’t be needed anymore.

Luther’s last quip was the cherry on the cake… H

He said:- ’You don’t need help. You need counselling!’ in a squeaky tone and quickly hurtled off the stage before Obama could snap further! 😛

This video is beyond epic, especially since it features the leader of the world’s supreme superpower – The President of the United States, that too in a funny avatar! 😛

PM Modi’s and US President Barack Obama’s ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ at Hyderabad House on Sunday, January 25^th, was not only a comfortable and cosy setting with tea sets, roses and shamiana, it was also a style fiesta where our Prime Minister showcased his own personal branding in a woollen bandhgala with his complete name woven all across the stripes.

Yes! If you watch carefully the pictures of his suit he wore for tea talks that day, you will find ‘Narendra Damodardas Modi’ monogrammed in pin stripes all over his blue suit.

The bandhgala is reported to be designed by a store in Ahmedabad for men’s clothing, Jade Blue which has been Modi’s fashion stop for decades now and the owner of the store claimed to have stylised exclusively for the Prime Minister.

However, we have a style icon and a first-time Indian PM to wear a bandhgala with this monogrammic print, although several celebrities and even political leaders of other countries have worn similar styled clothing before. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak also tried this trademark style.

International brands like Burberry and Hermes fashion clothing for men have been much popular for these trends and have made it quite the in-thing.

However, Twitteratis have given mixed reactions to this trend of personalised styling by Modi, where some have praised him as an inspiring Fashion icon, especially representing the country while others have not accepted this too well and opponents have taken potshots at him calling him a narcissist and megalomaniac!

Designer Anand Bhushan has, on the other hand taken this personalized textile and style statement as an initiative for fresh branding motives. “Narendra Modi himself is clearly a bigger label than Gucci. Thus, he is wearing his own eponymous brand, with his name inscribed all over the outfit!”

While Modi greeted Barack Obama and Michelle Obama at the Palam airport in beige coloured kurta and bright orange shawl, he changed his attires all through the day and even went on to carry out an elaborate bandhni as a turban with a formal black suit. The tie-and-dye turban reflected his spirit of celebration for the Republic Day as it was red, green and orange coloured with white dots all over. Well, who would know better about the bandhni technique than PM Modi who has ruled the state of Gujarat for a decade before he was opted with majority votes for Prime Ministerial duties?

You might remember PM Modi’s turban styling during his Independence Day speech, which according to designer Manish Malhotra, “he wore with incredible panache and style.”

Designers would certainly be elated with PM’s sense of fashion and styling however, the suit was hand woven using the jacquard technique that would alone cost somewhere between Rupees 80,000 to Rupees Five lakhs, let alone the price of the fabric, labour and making charges.

Modi has always been popular for his short kurtas or kurtas with half sleeves and sleeveless jackets where the store, Jade Blue has been given the rights to use the Modi label for their sets of kurtas (‘Modi Kurtas’).

Even Obama seemed to be flattered with Modi’s style statement and claimed at the banquet meeting, raising a toast to India that he wants to buy at least the ‘Modi Kurta’ for himself.
