Bollywood is an exciting place to be!

It never ceases to entertain us, even with weird developments!

The latest to catch our attention is the casting for a new flick, the sequel for 2005 hit comedy, No Entry titled as No Entry Mein Entry!

The movie is waiting for a go-ahead from the darling of the masses, Salman Khan, but that is not what’s so exciting about it. It is the news that the film will have as many as 10 actresses that has made us sit up and take notice. According to director Aneez Bazmee, the film’s three lead actors Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Fardeen Khan will have double roles in the movie and a requirement of 10 actresses out of which the only one to be finalized as of now is the hot and sultry brand-new queen of horror movies, Bipasha Basu!

Seriously guys, we are wondering what kind of a crazily zany movie is this going to be that requires 6 heroes (double role, remember?) and 10 heroines? Recently Sajid Khan tortured us with his Humshakals with everyone having triple roles and many of us have still not got out of the trauma of watching it! Before that, the only flick that required so many actresses was Shahrukh Khan’s Chak De that dealt with women’s hockey and was one of the best sports movies ever made in India!

Now, going by the original flick, No Entry, its sequel surely seems to be one big rom-com with multiple affairs, extra-marital affairs and everything else possible in the name of love and lust!

The director said it will be a combination of established and newcomer actresses and we really hope that no matter what kinds of heroines are cast, they should be at least bearable! Obviously we are not looking for mighty talented girls giving their best in a movie associated with brain-less crass humour, but then there should be some quality given the fact that Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan are part of the movie! What? You mentioned Fardeen Khan? Well, yeah he is also there, but then we want girls who can perform better than him, any day!

This is definitely going to be one big casting rigmarole and one that will keep all the leading ladies as well as newcomers on their toes trying to grab a plum role. By now, most of them would have sent a hundred text messages to the director and all the leading men of the film cajoling, requesting and doing what not to be in the good books. In simple words, feelers (don’t think naughty now, ok?) must have been sent!

Let’s see when Salman allots date for this mega venture and how soon we are able to see the magic of so many girls wooing or getting wooed by these ageing hunks of Bollywood!

Bollywood churns out almost 200 movies every year and hardly 8-10 movies are worth watching out of those. This year started on an average note and suddenly it seems to have picked up steam. Piku, Tanu Weds Manu Returns and now Dil Dhadakne Do! It is a treat to watch such movies, which are so different from each other and yet are total entertainers.

Even though there weren’t many expectations from Dil Dhahdkane Do and even after the release there are mixed reviews, there are certain things about the movie which make it a must watch. Mind you, there is more to the movie than just the voice-over of Aamir Khan for the family dog Pluto also acting as a kind of a narrator! Let’s have a look at the things which does make it a gem!

1) Message Oriented, But Not Preachy

Zoya Akhtar is known for making sensible movies that ordinarily make you think about life and world at large. This movie is no different given the fact that it touches so many subjects like family bonding, women empowerment, social status, hypocrisy etc, yet it never gets preachy about it. The writing of Zoya and her co-writer Reema Kagti is such that everything happens like a very matter of fact without making a whole issue out of things. Subtle, but impactful!

2) Mirror To The Society

Many people feel that, ‘oh this happens only in high society people, we are different’! This is a wrong assumption as the characters depicted in the film might be from the upper strata of society, their problems might also seem trivial, but what’s brewing beneath the surface, their insecurities, ego-tussles, emotional upheaval they go through is all human irrespective of their standing in the society! It is good to see how we are going on doing and saying the wrong things, without even realizing them!

3) Performances

It is a huge ensemble cast with some of the finest actors of our country. Even the supporting cast is exemplary, but what takes the cake is the performance by Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah and Ranveer Singh! Anil shows yet again why he is such a freaking awesome actor and is still around after almost 30 years in showbiz! Shefali does selected work and what she has done shows the class of this actress. The shades, the layering, the talent to switch between contrasting and contradicting emotions within seconds are simply unbelievable. Ranveer is a revelation if you compare him with his previous work! It may look like a simple role from outside, but boy oh boy; the way he acts is stupendous! Apart from these, everyone else be it Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Rahul Bose, Zarina Wahab or any other actor, they are aptly cast and give their best!

4) Galla Goodhiyaan

As such the music of the film isn’t that awesome, but this song has to be mentioned for the sheer talent of picturising it and for the way it has been performed. It is a good 3 minute song, yet none of the actors in the entire song has gone out of his/her character given the fact that it looks like being shot in one take with no cuts! It is as such very difficult to have such long scenes in one shot, but to have an entire song with the entire cast and supporting cast of the movie in one shot is surely a feat!

5) It is cinema!

For past few years, the biggest superstars of our country are serving cinema that questions ours or their IQ! Yet they gross Rs. 300-400 crore at the box office and after watching such movies, we all feel is it really some entertainment? However, Dil Dhadhakne Do is really a movie with a story, performance and entertainment value associated with movies. It is not a star-run flick with no heads and tails about a story!

If you haven’t watched it, do go for it! You’ll not repent spending those almost three hours in the darkness of a theatre, going away on a cruise and meeting your own life, somewhere there!

Well, she is an amazingly beautiful and gorgeous girl!

Her sense of style and awareness of fashion is second to none and among the current crop of heroines in Bollywood, she is clearly the one who carries the crown of fashion diva with aplomb!

An actor’s appetite for name and fame never subsides!

Add to it the colour of money and the urge to rule the world or the entire planet takes on new wings!

Such may be the case with our desi diva, Priyanka Chopra. She has been one of the top most actresses of current times as far as Bollywood is concerned. However, her appetite to be world famous, not just amongst Indians, but even amongst a global population forced her to try it out with her singing skills.

Well, we all know how that turned out. After trying real hard to sing in an American accent, joining hands with Hollywood musicians and singers and finally releasing three singles, she realised that becoming a pop-artist isn’t as simple as opening a soda bottle. Singing talents are different than being an actress and even though both are creative arts, both require different kind of skill sets. However, we do appreciate her attempts at trying something different!

In the same flow of things, she recently revealed that she has been cast in an American drama series, Quantico produced by one of the major entertainment networks of Hollywood, ABC Network. Here she is playing an important role opposite Jake McLaughlin of Grey’s Anatomy fame!

This is a big deal for sure!

However, the question that comes to mind is that it isn’t a Hollywood movie which she has signed. No doubt it might be a big TV series, but is always going to be somewhat less than a Hollywood movie. So did she sign it because she couldn’t get through movies so the next big offer was pounced upon? And if she had to do TV, why not something in India as well? Not necessarily the usual saas-bahu drama, but something different that does justice to her talent. After all bigger stars than her like Anil Kapoor tried it here after doing a movie and then a series, 24! Even Amitabh Bachchan tried his hands at a local fictional show, Yudh; so what if it didn’t work out! Even movies flop, but a big star’s presence always helps the channels and production houses to raise the bar as far as content is concerned.

We do hope that she succeeds in her new venture, but it would be really nice to see her in a desi avatar on a locally produced fictional show where in her fans can get to see her on a daily basis, up close and personal mouthing Hindi dialogues! Portraying a different character with no forced song and dance sequences can really help her gain so many more fans who in turn will get some superlative entertainment on the idiot box famous for churning out below-standard content most of the times.
