<p>Today’s <a href="https://www.youngisthan.in/entertainment/cartoons-every-90s-kids-have-watched/61317">kids</a> won’t agree with this statement as they haven’t seen what life looked like before Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram took over.</p>
<p>But 90s kids would definitely agree with me on this.</p>
<p>When the summer vacations start, the Facebook timeline gets flooded with holiday pictures. Back then, in the 90s,how did we enjoy summer holidays? It was a lot more fun to lick the mango pulp off our elbows than to click selfies and post it on social media sites. Here is how the 90s kids spent their summer vacations and made their holidays memorable:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Outdoor Games</strong><strong> </strong></li>
</ol>
<p>The 90s kids had real friends and hence they played real games. Summer vacation used to be all about hanging out with the friends that reside in the neighborhood. Forget about evenings, not even the mornings and afternoons were spared. The kids used to go home simply to have lunch and dinner. Marbles, lagori, hopscotch, hide and seek were some of the common games.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-65788" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Outdoor-Games.jpg" alt="90s Kids" width="600" height="400" /></p>
<ol start="2">
<li><strong> Cartoon Networkand Pogo</strong></li>
</ol>
<p>There were no restrictions on watching TV during summer vacations. We could watch it all day long. Unlike today, 90s kids were blessed to have cartoons that were in true sense, FUN. Tiny TV also brought us great entertainment. Oswald, Noddy, Bob the Builder, and Pingu instantly became every 90s kid’s friends. When not playing out in the heat, we used to watch educational and fun programs on either Cartoon Network or Pogo. And how can we forget Rob’s M.A.D, the show that taught us a lot about music, art, and dance.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-65787" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Oswald.jpg" alt="90s Kids" width="600" height="338" /></p>
<ol start="3">
<li><strong> Super Marioand Duck Hunt</strong></li>
</ol>
<p>Xbox wasn’t a trend back then. The kids in the 90s enjoyed playing Super Mario and Duck Hunt on the TV. TV? Yes, we have had a blast playing TV video games. We did not connect with the strangers on a gaming site for multiplayer games. We always had our own gang ready to look for Mario’s girlfriend or to hunt the ducks.<strong> </strong></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-65785" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Duck-Hunt.jpg" alt="90s Kids" width="600" height="319" /></p>
<ol start="4">
<li><strong> Visiting Grandmother and other relatives</strong><strong> </strong></li>
</ol>
<p>Summer vacation always meant visiting grandmother, especially mother’s mother. Even today, if the 90s kids are given an option to visit either Switzerland or Nani’sGhar, they would definitely choose their Nani&#8217;s house. The variety of dishes cooked with love followed by tons of mangoes was the best part of summer vacations. The most of the veggies and fruits that grandma served used to be farm fresh and organic.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-65786" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mangoes.jpg" alt="90s Kids" width="600" height="338" /></p>
<p>No matter how advanced the technology gets, it will not be able to give us back <a href="https://www.youngisthan.in/bollywood/kuch-kuch-hota-hai-gave-goals/65542">those simple days full of love</a> and warmth. The real human connection is something we will always miss. Fortunately, being born in the 90s at least allowed us to experience the real world and its beauty before it got replaced by the virtual world.</p>

<p>No denying, cartoons were more emotionally enriching than smartphones and Voot today. Also, we had no access to learning apps and we learned from first hand experiences. Cartoons were our perfect refuge when it poured cats and dogs outside and we were barred to go out and play. So much so, we went watching them till hours on end to drive the mommies outright crazy.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.youngisthan.in/lifestyle-specials/cartoon-characters-from-the-90s/48176">cartoon characters</a> occupied our thoughts and we still miss watching them.</p>
<p>Here are some examples of cartoons every 90s kids have watched:</p>
<p>Cartoons every 90s kids have watched &#8211;</p>
<p><strong>1. Scooby Doo:</strong></p>
<p>This was an animated television series from Hanna-Barbera Productions whose theme song is still a ear-worm to us “<em>Scooby Dooby Doo, Where are you?” </em>A pup named Scooby Doo went on adventurous pursuits with his hoomans and did some really hair-raising stuff in each episode that comprised of different cases.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-61319" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/1-43-528x400.jpg" alt="" width="528" height="400" srcset="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/1-43-528x400.jpg 528w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/1-43.jpg 620w" sizes="(max-width: 528px) 100vw, 528px" /></p>
<p><strong>2. Teletubbies:</strong></p>
<p>It was another pre-school television series which was created by Rangdoll productions. Three multi-coloured bear-like creatures called teletubbies went about their frolics and gambols and returned home to eat pancakes made us roll on the floor laughing.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-61320" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/2-47-660x371.jpg" alt="" width="660" height="371" srcset="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/2-47-660x371.jpg 660w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/2-47-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/2-47-1000x563.jpg 1000w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/2-47.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>3. Mowgli:</strong></p>
<p>Our summer vacations were lit up with this animated television series inspired from Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book. It was about an abandoned small jungle boy Mowgli sharing a fun-filled life with wild-life animals. He hunted, tracked and even behaved same like the animals and we doted on him completely. Remember the song? “<em>Jungle jungle baat chali hai pata chala hai, are chaddi pehen ke phool khila hai, phool khila hai”, </em>of course you do!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-61321" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/3-47-660x374.jpg" alt="" width="660" height="374" srcset="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/3-47-660x374.jpg 660w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/3-47-768x435.jpg 768w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/3-47.jpg 1000w" sizes="(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px" /></p>
<p><strong>4. Winnie the Pooh:</strong></p>
<p>Winnie the Pooh was a cutie-patootie bear that fed on honey and helped his fellow friends. His sidekick was a little piglet whose name was, well Piglet! Their jungle adventures were our favourite at that time. This character was created by English author A.A Milne and later adapted into a cartoon series.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-61322" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/4-48-660x348.jpg" alt="" width="660" height="348" srcset="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/4-48-660x348.jpg 660w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/4-48-768x404.jpg 768w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/4-48-1000x527.jpg 1000w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/4-48.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px" /></p>
<p><strong>5. Heidi:<br />
</strong>Heidi was a Japanese anime series which featured small girl with a big heart living in hilly terrain. This was adapted from Johanna Spryi’s Swiss novel ‘<em>Heidi’s years of wandering and learning” </em>where Heidi a little girl was raised by her aunt after the death of her parents. She lived in the hills happily while waiting for her aunt to return from Frankfurt who went there to seize a job opportunity.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-61323" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/5-49-510x400.jpg" alt="" width="510" height="400" srcset="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/5-49-510x400.jpg 510w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/5-49.jpg 650w" sizes="(max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px" /></p>
<p><strong>6. Dexter’s Laboratory:</strong></p>
<p>This was a predominant cartoon series in the Cartoon Network where a genius boy Dexter invented serious stuff in his secret laboratory while his elder sister Dee Dee fooled around and administered some brutal sibling rivalry onto him. Dexter even had a pet lab-monkey who was a secret superhero.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-61324" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/6-47-533x400.jpg" alt="" width="533" height="400" srcset="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/6-47-533x400.jpg 533w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/6-47-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/6-47-800x600.jpg 800w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/6-47.jpg 960w" sizes="(max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px" /></p>
<p><strong>7. Johnny Bravo:</strong></p>
<p>This was an American animated television series from Hannan-Barbera productions. It featured a muscular, loutish and insipid guy who was a self-proclaimed womanizer who mouther cheesy pick-up lines to pick random women who eventually rejected him for his dim-wit.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-61325" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/7-43-599x400.jpg" alt="" width="599" height="400" srcset="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/7-43-599x400.jpg 599w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/7-43-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/7-43-899x600.jpg 899w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/7-43.jpg 1100w" sizes="(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px" /></p>
<p><strong>8. Richie Rich:</strong></p>
<p>Our Sunday mornings were made when Richie Rich, the rich guy appeared on screen. Richie’s opulent lifestyle dropped jaws and he was our hot favourite back then. This was another animated series by Hannan-Barbera productions based upon Harvey comic character of the same name.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-61326" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/8-37-533x400.jpg" alt="" width="533" height="400" srcset="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/8-37-533x400.jpg 533w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/8-37-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/8-37-800x600.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px" /></p>
<p><strong>9. Tom and Jerry:</strong></p>
<p>Another cartoon series by Hannah Barbera productions that was heart-melting to say the least. It featured an angry cat named Tom and a mischievous rat named Jerry. We went out of breath laughing when Tom made numerous futile attempts to catch Jerry and he made them go in vain with his astute cleverness only the leave the house-mistress fuming with the mayhem their rivalry caused.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-61327" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/9-35.jpg" alt="" width="590" height="350" /></p>
<p><strong>10. The Adventures of Tintin:</strong></p>
<p>This comic character was adapted from Belgian cartoonist Herge’s sleuth character Tintin. It was a French-Canadian comic series which featured a cunning detective unravelling dangerous mysteries all over the world with his devoted pet dog for company.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-61328" src="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/10-27-660x371.jpg" alt="" width="660" height="371" srcset="https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/10-27-660x371.jpg 660w, https://www.youngisthan.in/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/10-27.jpg 665w" sizes="(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px" /></p>

<p>Have you ever wondered what LIFE was like before the internet invention? Nowadays, we can never leave home without cell-phone and everything that we need is all about a simple touch, right? But, think about how your parents lived their life when internet was not that popular or wasn’t even invented <strong>during their time</strong>.</p>
<p>I know that it’s kinda scary to think LIFE without <strong>Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram</strong>, but think about how our parents survived it.</p>
<p>Recently, <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/654aln/people_who_grew_up_before_the_internet_what_was/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Redditors</a> who grew up before the <strong>invention of Internet</strong> shared their piece of story when Internet was not a big deal.</p>
<p>Here’s what they said &#8211; Life Before Internet Invention :</p>
<ol>
<li>Information took effort to find, usually at a public library. Friends were not easily contacted; cell phones weren&#8217;t common until the late 90&#8217;s. <strong>Entertainment</strong> usually required planning ahead.</li>
</ol>
<ol start="2">
<li>Numbers were either memorised or written in the phone-book.</li>
</ol>
<ol start="3">
<li>Parents spent large amounts of money on <strong>encyclopedia sets</strong>. We had a second hand set of World Book that you used to research <strong>school papers.</strong></li>
<li>We would have huge paper maps in the car and would need to take them out to find street locations. It was mental. You&#8217;d only be able to tell your bank balance by looking at your bank book transactions. TV was what the <strong>internet is now</strong>. Everything focused on TV and movies. There were pay phones everywhere, and answering machines were important.</li>
<li>More bicycles. More playing outside. More climbing trees. More reading books. More random meeting up in the streets.<br />
More encyclopedias. More relying on <strong>TV/newspapers</strong> to find out what was happening in the world. More &#8220;<strong>local</strong>&#8221; trends.</li>
<li>We had to go to <strong>the library for school project research</strong>. We actually had to flip through books to find what we needed, then stand in line to get the info copied, then go home and type/write our project.</li>
<li>Well there was never a rush to hear back from someone if you called. You could leave a message and when the person called back a day or two later it was noting. You could literally go out and do stuff without people <strong>trying to communicate</strong> with you. Kids could go out and not be expected to be reached till they got to their destination.</li>
<li>When I told an apprentice at work my age the first thing he said was &#8220;<strong>So your from back when porn was hard to get</strong>.&#8221;</li>
<li>You never heard the phrases: &#8220;<strong>Just Google it&#8221;, &#8220;Text me&#8221;, &#8220;Spoiler alert</strong>&#8220;, and the Hashtag used to just be a pound sign.</li>
<li>I and my friends spent a lot of my time outside <strong>exploring woods</strong>, <strong>dilapidated buildings</strong>, walks along rivers, playing football. And if you had to find any information for school work, you had to <strong>read books</strong>. Wish I had all the information at my finger tips like today’s kids.</li>
</ol>
<p>This  was all about &#8221; Life Before Internet Invention &#8220;. Ask your parents about it too.</p>
