#ModiInNepal: Five Myths That Modi Busted Through His Nepal Visit

He has shown all the qualities of an able administrator, excellent diplomat and also unfolded the humane side of him to the people who brand him no less than a demon.

A storm of misconceptions have always surrounded Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the time when he was chief minister of Gujarat and later when he was campaigning as the BJP prime ministerial candidate, people praised his administrative skills but doubted his potentials as PM for the baggage he carried with him.

After becoming the PM of the country, Modi has busted many myths about him. Yet some of his critics wanted more direct proofs of his statesmanship.

Through his Nepal visit, Modi has silenced all.

He has shown all the qualities of an able administrator, excellent diplomat and also unfolded the humane side of him to the people who brand him no less than a demon.

Here are five myths that PM Modi busted when he was in Nepal:

  1. Excellent Diplomat: PM Modi showed that he is an excellent diplomat when he won the hearts of Nepali lawmakers and people by simple gestures. Not only he used Nepali language in his parliamentary speech, he also greeted people who had lined the roads for his glimpse. His confidence building measures strengthened the bilateral ties.
  2. Good Human Being: All those people who see Modi as a demon were eating dust when the story of his Godson Jeet Bahadur surfaced. The boy was brought to him by some woman in Gujarat. He did not hand over the boy to anybody else. He took the boy under his care and is still taking care of his education.
  3. Right Geography: Well, he has been accused of mixing places but see this – his Godson was handed over to the right parents at the right place. He chose the right person – a businessman from Nepal – to search the family of the boy. And voila! The family is now reunited.
  4. Right Approach: He is a man of right approaches. How? The relations between India and Nepal were gradually fading. It had been 17 years since an Indian PM visited the immediate neighbor Nepal. Modi not only visited Nepal, he also apologized for ignoring the Himalayan state. He said that there will not be any interference in the internal matter of Nepal and ‘offered’ for help just like a neighbor should irrespective of its size and power.
  5. Not anti-immigrant: Throughout the campaigning for Lok Sabha, Modi was being seen as anti-immigrant. The issue of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and BJP’s stand on it also lead these speculations further. But Modi and his grandson story says something else.

Now next is US visit. Madison Square Garden has been booked for his speech. Wonder what more Modi will do!
