Because Being Confident Is Not All About Being Arrogant

Being confident

Being confident – There is a fine line of difference between feeling confident about yourself and being arrogant for feeling confident.

While both entail a strong belief in your own abilities, the similarities between the two end when it comes to the responses the two provoke. Arrogance is the thing  that separates the can-dos from the can-do-way-better-single handedly.

Here are some simple ways of being confident and not act arrogantly at the same time.

Being confident –

1 – Stop faking

Generally people who try hard to sound confident end up being arrogant simply because they don’t figure out what real confidence is or what real confidence means to them. Their normal tendency is to talk over someone, because that is what they think normal people do. Because they have to show that they’re equally knowledgeable or possess ideas regarding everything under the sky, they’ll voice an opinion without even thinking about it. What they don’t understand here, is that it becomes evident when they’re faking it. You don’t need to fake confidence in everything. It’s there in times when you felt like everything was on your side to make the day for you. Get to know what it feels like and you’ll be good to go.

2 – Being best is not the only call

There have been times when someone’s screwed up a thing I was there for, and I said to myself, “Yet another reason why I should have been there.” That feeling you get about yourself when you see others screwing things up is a level where you have kept your elevated self. The truth is that there will always be someone who’ll be better or more talented than you in a particular respect. Confident people  are always ready to see the best in others and learn from it. You are no god, who has to be perfect in everything. For example, just because you’ve worked in a sector for half your lifetime, does not mean that nobody else can get a better idea than you can.

3 – Hiding is no good

Arrogance makes people bluff about the talents they don’t possess. They make up stories, point fingers at others and prepare their own fake stories, until they’re contented at dispatching their responsibilities and it’s time to claim victory. All these traits are nothing more than hiding behind an edifice of fear of effectiveness. That way, people who hold a very high opinion about themselves are often the ones with low esteem.

Being confident – Real and natural confidence is trust rather than second guessing. Building confidence takes work, arrogance however, is something that comes in handy.
