How You Can Resolve To Be Good And Make The World A Better Place

Resolve To Be Good

Now, let’s start with two things – Why do you think people keep telling you – Be Good?

Well, they also say – It’s a big bad world! Ahem!

Then what’s the use of being good in a big bad world? The only reason you need to have faith in both God and yourself and be good as someone, rather some people have to make the world a better place to live in.

It doesn’t matter what you have done in the past. The past is then and this is now. Just start life afresh in 2017 by resolving to be a better person and making the world a better place. The year has just started after all. Just make sure you stick to your resolutions and then see the magic they sprinkle and spread in your lives…

Firstly, be disciplined. Sleep and wake up early. Make sure you do your daily chores on time, be it working out, cleaning up or having your meals. Also, when you’re focusing on work and worship, make sure you discipline your mind as well and prevent it from wandering.

Discipline is the first step because it can make you mentally stronger and give you the confidence to go a good way and not the bad. It becomes tough for evil to attract you. Secondly, always be happy and positive. It’s not wrong to dream or be ambitious, but you’re at peace when you’re satisfied with what you have.

A good person may or may not be happy always, but a genuinely happy person, they say, is always good.

Now, let’s come to the part where we explore how we can make the world a better place. I will give you a real-life example.

Some years back, I was not being able to sleep night after night due to office stress.

While heading home in a Mumbai BEST bus, I saw the conductor forcing a sick old man to get off the bus because he could not pay the bus fare and he had just realized that his wallet wasn’t present in his pocket. I asked him not to worry and paid the fare on his behalf.

He blessed me with his Aashirwaad. In fact, when I was offering the money, everyone in the bus automatically got ready to pay for him. It was Ganesh Chaturthi time and I felt as if Ganpati Bappa had chosen me to help this senior citizen.

I had just made the world a better place by giving and also setting a generous example. I slept in peace that night and  I named this small initiative of mine #GivingTuesday as it was a Tuesday and Tuesday (Mangalvaar) is the day of Lord Ganesha.

#TheGoodYouCan Resolutions video of 100 Pipers suddenly reminded me of that initiative of mine. They (100 Pipers) strongly believe in the fact – Be Remembered For Good.

Check out this mind-blowing video of theirs –

The video gives us very good examples of how we can make the world a better place.

The 2 inspiring examples which stood out according to me were – Cycle to Work and Greet Everyone with a Smile.
