Paris, a
muse of Hemingway and Balzac, and a blissful oasis of impressionist paintings
and love songs, breathes life into every traveler as he takes stride in the
cobblestoned streets Saint-Germain and feasts the eyes on Backlit silhouette of
Notre-Dame which transcends cliché.

In Victorian
era, Paris looked like a dreamscape abundant with wealth and opulence. Those
with enormous wealth, would shamelessly expose their possessions to each other,
and to the unwashed masses, in the Bois de Boulogne parade between 2:00 and
4:00 pm.

Below is an
old footage of Victorian Paris that was taken between 1896 to 1900. If you
notice with a fine-tooth comb, you will see:

0:08 –
Notre-Dame Cathedral in the year 1896

0:58 – Alma
Bridge in the year 1900

1:37 –
Avenue des Champs-Élysées in the year 1899

2:33 – Place
de la Concorde in the year 1897

3:24 –
Passing of a fire brigade in the year 1897

3:58 –
Tuileries Garden in the year 1896

4:48 –
Moving walkway at the Paris Exposition in the year 1900

5:24 – The
Eiffel Tower from the Rives de la Seine à Paris in the year 1897

You will
marvel at the dignified behavior and the the manner of dressing of the
inhabitants. This footage shows the most high-brow and culturally stung places
of the city.

Cathédrale Notre-Dame:

This cathedral’s
architecture draws cues from the French Gothic architecture. The iconic façade and
rose windows are the magnet to massive crowds.

Alma Bridge:

This is a road bridge in Paris which is located across the Seline. The bridge was named to commmorate the Battle of Alma during the Crimean war and was inaugurated by Napoleon III.

Avenue des Champs-Élysées:

This 1.9 km long and 70 metres wide bridge runs between Place De La Concorde and the Place Charles De Gaulle, where the Arc de Triomphe is located. You will find a series of theatres, cafes and luxury shops around this place. The annual Bastille Day Military parade also takes place here.

Tuileries Garden:

This is a public garden located between the Louvre and the Place De La Concorde. The beautiful park was open to the public in 1667 and people thronged there massively after the French revolution.

Moving walkway at the Paris
Exposition:

The Moving Walkway is also known as an autowalk. There is a slow moving conveyor mechanism at play behind this which transports people across a horizontal or inclined plane in a short to medium distance. These walkways can be availed by simply standing on them.

The Eiffel Tower:

There is no one that doesn’t know about Eiffel Tower of Paris. In fact, this is the main public attraction of this city. The wrought-iron lattice tower is located on the Champ De Mars and was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel. The bridge was constructed from 1887 to 1889 and went on to become a global cultural icon.

In the
video, you will notice how different the city looked from now and how it
evolved over the time. We must say that no other city can match the standard of
Paris in terms of its architecture.

This statement might make the patriarchs sit up in alarm but yes. You have probably heard of, well, let’s presume you definitely did, Cleopatra and Nefertiti. On our perusal of Cara Cooney’s book When Women Ruled The World: Six Queens of Egypt, we were in complete awe to find out that women were competitors for Pharaoh’s throne without having to face sexism.

Cleopatra’s story:

Cleopatra was a brilliant statesman with a productive womb which she used to rule, as per the studies about Ptolemaic dynasty. The dynasty had a liberal approach towards women where every son and daughter had their own entourage, their treasuries, heir own sources of power besides shared power within a predetermined system of siblings. Of course, it goes without saying that the siblings killed each other with impunity for the greed of throne. In fact, Cleopatra II was married to her brother. After having a massive verbal spat with the brother, he was found dead eventually. The, Cleopatra II went on to marry her next brother with whom she had her daughter, Cleopatra III. Cleopatra III overthrew her mother with the help of her uncle and Cleopatra II’s brother by banishing her out of the community. Even gruesome, the uncle sent Cleopatra II the body of her son packed in a parcel, cut into bits. However, they came together as one for political reasons later.

Where the power lied:

Cleopatra II was a clever woman and she used her reproductive abilities to create a legacy, nothing short of a man she was. The other women, in the meanwhile were either ruling in behalf of a younger child or they were ruling because they could not produce any male offspring and stepping into the years when their reproductive abilities went into a sparse. However, Cleopatra used her reproductive organs and went on to make babies with two Roman warlords. She then meticulously placed each child in charge of a different part of her booming Eastern Empire which was in loggerheads with the Western Roman Empire.

Sadly, now we only remember Cleopatra as a great beauty but we should not forget that she was also a product of great incest. Definitely from the ancient findings it is proved that Cleopatra was witty, conversationalist and intelligent.

Nefertiti’s story:

Nefertiti was another legendary queen of Egypt who represented true and successful female power. She has also saved Egypt from a critical political phase which is commendable. Nefertiti was the leader of her people and a great visionary. Upon becoming a political leader, she changed her identity, she had renamed herself which didn’t comply with the feminine ways. In fact, she was smart enough to use her feminine wiles to rule the men that were her competitors in power. She became the co-king first then, imperceptibly, the sole king. Later on, she erased all her feminine beauty to become more fierce as a ruler.

So, definitely you can understand till what gamut these women used their intelligence to rule the ancient Egyptian society. They had no-holds-barred unlike us now.

No, she is not!

This is just an idea we are exploring and we are 100% sure that if somehow this is brought into practice, none of our classrooms will ever be empty!

Does this sound too exaggerated? Who cares?

The fact is that we are least interested in the subjects that matter and more inclined towards things that don’t hold much value in life except titillating us for a while! So why not mix them both? Sunny Leone teaching the youth of the country will be the next big thing in the world of education! As such, it is difficult to get kids to focus on anything these days, their attention span is limited and with all these gadgets at their disposal, they hardly care about what’s happening around them. Let Sunny take over and get these kids to behave!

We are sure you have many questions buzzing in your head about how to go about it! Let’s go step by step and help you understand the detailed methodology of bringing this idea of the century to fruition!

The first question coming to your head might be does Sunny Leone know enough to teach? Well, we can have experts teach her first and then she can teach the same stuff to students!

Secondly, how can one Sunny Leone teach a million students across the country?

Simple, this is the era of technology! Video-conferencing is the key for all such noble ideas, you know!

Thirdly, what is the guarantee that students will be focusing on studies and not on Sunny herself?

Well, here we can devise some incentive schemes for students. For example, if they deliver their assignments on time, score a particular percentage in exams, the lucky few out of them might get a chance for lunch or dinner with Sunny! Now think, which student is going to let go of such a lucrative offer?

May be we can keep Sunny’s lectures twice or at the most thrice a week, so that her exclusivity is maintained as well as the requirements for lectures is also met. Remember, this is not to undermine the sincere, genuine and worth-applauding efforts of all the teachers working so hard in various schools and college all year round. Sunny will not be their competitor, but kind of a support system. What she can’t teach due to her own limited educational background and time-constraints would obviously be taught by regular teachers!

Our nation needs to learn, understand and respect our history to make a better future. As such, no student ever said he or she loves history! May be Sunny can change the mindset and bring a revolution in the country! Once history is conquered, we can use her expert services in other subjects as well. After all, if this kind of an experiment succeeds in one subject, it will surely succeed in others too!

Think about it guys, this is the first step towards educational reforms, especially after the government of India is banning all kind of porn! What else can poor Sunny Leones of the world do? Let’s help her and many like her, in helping us as well!

It’s a win-win situation, what say?

Yes, there are a lot of countries trying to replace it and amongst them India is a worthy contender. However, we are still far away from occupying such an envious position of power!

Do we want to be a world superpower?

Of course, yes!

Can we become one?

Well, there are no clear answers for this as a lot depends on how we act, rather than our boastful statements of predicting that this century belongs to India thanks to ever growing population and nothing else to support the superpower status! Truly speaking, we have become wannabes of being a superpower than rightfully deserving of the coveted title!

Let’s bring to you 5 topmost reasons as to why India is not a superpower yet!:

1) Disrespect for Our Own History

For a country’s growth, it is important for its people to understand and respect its cultural history and legacy. Knowing is not enough! One has to know and then learn lessons so as not to repeat the mistakes. All we care about as a nation is our independence struggle and that too in bits and parts. On top of it, we hardly learn anything from it; leave aside implanting the lessons learnt! Try visiting any museum in the country and watch people behaving there. You’ll get what we’re saying!

2) Discipline Missing

Are we the disciplined lots? Do we throw garbage in bins? Do we spit on the walls? Do we urinate in public places? Do we behave like mature people when in a public place? There are tons of questions like this and sadly the answer to all is same: we are not disciplined at all! It doesn’t take only the military capabilities to be a superpower, but also the people power that yes, the citizens are sensible and grown-up enough to handle such a position of power!

3) Responsibility of Actions Severly Unavailable

Again, we are the first ones to blame everyone and everybody for anything wrong happening in life. May be it is the government or the neighbours or family or anyone who can be made the scapegoat for our own collective failures. The day we learn to take responsibility for our own actions, the entire nation will change!

4) Utterly Crazy About Money

There is no harm in being a capitalist country, but one should not ignore other aspects of life. Earning money and making huge profits is the basic right for every human being, but there has to be a balance when it comes to quality of life, following ethics, morals and principals and making sure that the value of money is not more than the intangibles that make life worth living!

5) Equalled Value of Human Life Diminishing

Only one individual or only his near and dear ones should succeed is not the right way for a country to grow. Till the time we don’t value human life on a broader level, there can’t be any substantial growth. The quality of life of every individual has to be on par. No differentiation on the basis of caste, colour, creed or religion should be followed so that everyone gets equal opportunities to contribute to the society and achieve their dreams and desires. Every death due to some stupid preventable accident or dowry death or a cold-blooded murder (read abortion) of a foetus should hurt us for change to happen!

We have to work together if we want our country to progress and be a land of happiness and prosperity. Nothing can be achieved by blaming the government and past experiences for our today’s failures.

Let’s join hands and make our country proud and let it reach the position, that it so very well deserves!
