FIFA Hairstyles – There is a term doing rounds ‘Most influential hairstyles of FIFA 2018’ and we clear our throat here, looking at them and enjoying is fine but if we stepped out in our locality wearing those hairs, we would be chased down by men, worse, dogs.

With due respect to the World Class athletes and their distinct choice for fashion, their hairstyles sparked us into the sudden thought, ‘what they must have been thinking while doing them?’ or ‘were they doped?’ These questions were put to rest where their hairstyles were adored by the World at large no matter how much weird they seemed to a few of us.

1 – Paul Pogba, France:

His hairstyle stole our heart. Looks like a grass-cutter assumed life and went crazy. The hairstylist’s trimmer should be auctioned like the stones from the stone-age. And those blonde patches add the extra oomph.

Sergio Ramos: 

He has achieved a lot in such a young age and is a true trailblazer. Neymar enjoys a huge fan base across the world and his fans worshipped his choice of hairstyle in blindfolds too. He wore messy hair which was nearly Mohawk this year. The hairstyle was promptly noted down and fans rushed to barber shops. This time Neymar nailed it again.

Ronaldo:

Ronaldo is the zorro of hairstyles and gives neck-to-neck competition to Neymar in terms of this. This time too, he made his freak flag fly in this trimmed at the below hairstyle with some edgy cuts. Looks like the barber’s trimmer took haphazard strolls across his head so that he ended up with a hairstyle like this.

Chris Waddle:

This was back in time when Chris Waddle walked into the field with these long tresses. This is completely the flavour of the season now that Sanju has released and we are reminded of Sanjay Dutt’s 90s’ haircut by this. Chris Waddle too had been experimental about his haircuts and here is the proof.

These are FIFA Hairstyles –  Footballers are driven by whims and their haircuts stand proof to that. So, FIFA World Cup is round the corner and Russia is rolling up the sleeves for welcoming the teams and fans. The 32 competing nations are now updated about their opponents in the group stage of the tournament.

64 matches are slated to be held in 12 stadiums in Russia.

There are five arenas that are already being set up. The name of the stadiums are Spartak Stadium in Moscow, the Fisht stadium in Sochi, the Kazan arena and the Saint Petersburg Stadium. All of these stadiums have lately hosted FIFA Confederation Cup 2017 in June and July of this year. However, the main venue of 2018 FIFA World Cup is Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium where the both the opening match and the final will be held. This is recently reopened and being remodelled to host a friendly match between Russia and Argentina.

Preparations of FIFA World Cup are in full swing at the seven other stadiums too where the stadiums will house scores of visitors from around the world.

The first match:

It will be held between Croatia and Nigeria whose venue Kalinigrad Stadium is 90 percent complete. The metal structure shell of the stadium has been nicely structured and weighs more than 15,000 tonnes. The decoration is underway and seats are being fitted in the stands.

2. The second match:

The second match will be held between Tunisia and England on 18^th June at Volgograd Arena. The pitch is being built anew and the turf was even readied before the winter months. At the entrances of the stadium, coloured windows are being installed, in the stands, seats are being put and protective barriers are being raised around them too.

3. The third match:

This stadium which is likely to host the France and Peru match is called Ekaterinburg Arena. The match will be held on 21^st June and the stadium is 98 percent complete so far. There are new lightening system, multi-media façade are being installed and the cultural heritage is being restored.

4. The fourth match:

The fourth match will be held between Sweden and Korea Republic on 19^th June in the Mordovia Arena stadium which is laying new foundations on the pitch and planting new grass surfaces. The roof, façade and temporary stands of the stadium are being reconstructed too.

5. The fifth match:

It will be held between Brazil and Switzerland on 17^th June in the Rostoz Arena whose roofs, lifts and escalators are being rebuilt. Work is going on the doors as well. The exterior of the stadium is being redeveloped too.

6. The sixth match:

The sixth match will be held on Samara Arena on 17^th June between Costa Rica and Serbia. The roof is being honed and decorations are going on too, mostly in the façade and internal facilities. Work on the pitch is going on too.

Footballing world’s answer to the Oscars, Ballon D’Or has released its shortlist of contenders ahead of December’s lavish gala which will be organised by FIFA.

The 23-man list is spearheaded by none other than the reigning winner, Cristiano Ronaldo who played a big part in Real Madrid’s décima last season as well as winning the Spanish League cup.

Moreover, club mate and former Tottenham Hotspurs winger Gareth Bale is the only British player included in the list, as well as archrival Lionel Messi, while five Premier League players find themselves on the elite list with the names of Diego Costa, Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, Angel Di Maria and Yaya Toure also making the cut.

Even as the likes of Messi vs. Ronaldo rivalry take the headline, much of the debate was spent on the omission of Luis Suarez in the list. Not only the Uruguayan but a host of other noted footballers who were ignored from the elite panel of skilled footballers.

The current Barcelona forward was an inspiration behind Liverpool’s emergence to fight for the top spot but has FIFA deleted the Uruguay striker for the ‘bite incident’ at the World Cup?

Aaron Ramsey
The Welsh wizard from Arsenal football club – Aaron Ramsey was another absentee from the list of the Ballon D’Or nominees. The Gunners’ midfield maestro was blowing away the EPL last season with some breathtaking goals and assists until an unfortunate injury during a game at West Ham. ‘Rambo’ scored the winner at the FA Cup final this year that ended Arsenal 9-year trophy hunt as well.

Arturo Vidal
Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal is another such player that is not on the list of the prestigious trophy. The Juventus player is rock solid in midfield and his eye catching displays earned him a transfer target from Manchester United.

Koke
Atletico Madrid surprised one and all last season with their triumph in the Spanish League as well as earning a spot in the UEFA Champions League Final. One such player that flourished is none other than Koke who is also a regular in the Spanish national side. Adding Andres Iniesta over Koke was a bit of partiality from the FIFA board, wasn’t it?

Mats Hummels
One of the stars in the World Cup in Brazil was German defender Mats Hummels. The Borussia Dortmund centreback was an influential figure in the heart of defence in their bid to win the major tourney and his eye catching performance attracted suitors in the form of Arsenal and Manchester United amongst many.
