Actress Bhagyashree made her debut in Maine Pyar Kiya opposite Salman Khan – Remember? No doubt about that, right? Well, this time around, it’s all about her handsome son Abhimanyu Dassani, who will be debuting in Bollywood. Yes, he will make a debut in a movie with Bollywood’s ace director Anurag Kashyap.

We all know about Anurag’s amazing directorial skills, so it’ll be amazing to see Abhimanyu acting in a movie. No doubt, he can give a tough competition to Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor. 😉 (It seems)

Abhimanyu will be seen in an action comedy movie, “Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota”.

It’ll be exciting to see him in a movie which is said to be produced by Anurag Kashyap and written by Vasan Bala. The movie will showcase some thrilling action scenes, and undoubtedly, it’ll be truly amazing to see Abhimanyu in it.

Apart from that, Abhimanyu Dassani is quite active on social media, and damn his picture posts reveals that he will look simply amazing while doing action scenes. Yes, I’m not kidding at-all. I’m quite sure, once he debuts, ladies will shift their attention on him. Well don’t know about his acting, but his physique is attractive enough.

As I mentioned, he is active on Instagram, his picture posts are truly swoon-worthy.

No doubt, you will see him acting in movies, till then take a look at these amazing pictures.

And this…

And it spread like fire. And some publications carried the news stating – ‘Anurag Kashyap injured by punch of MMA fighter’ Ouch

Anurag Kashyap just wanted to prove a point that media makes anything into news and he definitely won the bet.

He later shared…

one Instagram picture of prosthetics test for the eye, with a random line, becomes news without crosschecking. point proven, won the bet

And this..

Indian media fail #34909138 pic.twitter.com/pls8W99EYS

He made a point out loud, what do you think about this?

Clearly he wasn’t caught in any brawl and it was just an experiment.

What do you think about this act by Anurag?

Clearly he made all of us question- Are we going right with the way we publish news?

Media is the most powerful thing in the entire world and we must respect that, don’t we?

What to say Mr Kashyap? We can just say- Well played 😉

Looks like media need to be aware even if publishes news that comes straight from the horse’s mouth!

A lesson well taught Anurag Kashyap!

Even though the industry thrives on displaying, exploring and exploiting a plethora of human emotions in movie after movie, when it comes to real life, sometimes it feels like more of an emotional abuse rather than use just for some quick eyeballs and attention!

Ranbir Kapoor is considered to be one of the most intelligent, good looking and immensely talented actors of the current generation who will supposedly go a long way in his career. The way he conducts himself, promotes his movies, handles his image in public says a lot about this dashing actor’s sensibilities and intellect. However, it seems he has also fallen prey to the gruelling demands of a movie promotion and is going out of his way to promote it, even if he might not be all that convinced about it!

We’re talking about his next mega release, Bombay Velvet directed by Anurag Kashyap, which is going to hit the theatres this week. Lot of money is at stake; the movie has been in the making for many years now and is embroiled in one controversy after the other right from the beginning. May be that’s why Ranbir is bit nervous about it and has started talking about his personal life so often!

Now the fact that Katrina Kaif and Ranbir are a couple and living-in together is no news, but Ranbir always brushed aside the subject and never discussed it for media’s gossip mongers.

But now he is using this relationship card to stay in news!

The latest is that he is talking about his impending marriage with Kat which might happen in 2016 end or early 2017. Now the marriage is almost 2 years away, so why is Ranbir so keen on talking about it now? Obviously to stay in the news and get people talking about him, indirectly promoting his movie!

This is what perplexes us.

A star of Ranbir’s stature has to bend over backwards and compromise with his own conviction of not talking to media about his personal life. It must be difficult for him, but then is there something more than what meets the eye? Is there some problem with the movie that he has to resort to such cheap publicity to make people come to watch him? He can say a million things about the movie, do a lot of things to promote a movie without bringing in the Katrina angle, but he does the most obvious one which almost any other tom, dick and harry does to promote a film. Just before the release of a film, spread rumours of a link up or a relationship or marriage or divorce for some cheap publicity and you get attention!

Frankly speaking, we deserve better from Ranbir than the walking the beaten path! Dude, you’re supposed to replace one of the big Khans as a superstar in future, better use your brain like them and give us some intelligent and creative marketing for film promotions!

We love to watch your movies, well, most of them, anyways!

Strong emotions touch some raw chords and are more or less responsible for creating an unsaid bond between the past and the present smoothly flowing into the future. Bollywood is en-cashing on exactly such emotions in the name of entertainment and dishing out old stories in the garb of new age cinema.

A few years back there was a trend of remaking cult classics and a few of them did hit the bull’s eye on the box office. While the remake of Don did wonders, Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag, the remake of Sholay, turned out to be sheer torture for the lovers of cinema!

So many songs and movies were remixed and remade in the disguise of sharing golden moments of Indian cinema with the new generation. Now when that hysteria has died down, the new fad is about making movies actually based in the bygone era.

Not that all movies are based in the 1940’s or 50’s, but increasingly the filmmakers are taking those years as the backdrop of their movies. Whether it was the biography of Milkha Singh, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag or the about to be released Bombay Velvet and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, all these flicks are based in the yesteryears.

Even the recent surprise hit, Dum Laga Ke Haisha is from 1990’s, which brought back the sweet memories of a decade which is considered to be the turning point of Hindi movies as far as music and quality of production is concerned.

To have a perspective, let us inform you that remaking an old classic in today’s time is much easier rather than making a new film based in that era. The reason being, an old classic has a connection with the audience and not much effort is required in making an authentic 1960’s or 70’s or 50’s movie. Whereas if a movie is based in that era with a new story, minute detailing has to be taken care of if it has to connect with the audience of today. Hence the cost of making such flicks rise much higher and the efforts are doubled up. And sometimes in this process, the storytelling takes a back seat while the gimmicks of creating that bygone era take center-stage.

The recently released trailers of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy and Bombay Velvet show a lot of promise as far as nostalgic moments are concerned since most of the today’s generation has only heard or read about such a life from elders and books, but never lived it. This might be exciting visually, but the ultimate test will be if these movies have a gripping and engaging story.

With big names behind both the projects, Yash Raj Films, Dibakar Bannerjee, Anurag Kashyap, Ranbir Kapoor etc., the hopes are really high from these films.

May the two eras blend in seamlessly to give us an out of this world experience!

And it has been creating ripples on social media. Set to get the biggest release for an Assamese film as it releases simultaneously in seven cities outside Assam, Local Kung Fu would be creating history as the most inexpensive action movie ever made.

Not to mention, India’s first martial arts comedy! Made for a humble Rs 95,000 Local Kung Fu, releasing on September 27, has wowed the likes of Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee.

Here’s an excerpt from the chat with the man behind the film – Kenny D Basumatary – who has written, directed and acted in the film.

The highlight of Local Kung Fu has been that it was made in a budget of less than a lakh rupee. How did you manage that?

We shot in Guwahati in places where we wouldn’t need permission, used our relatives’ homes as locations, got friends and family to act (only after auditioning – I was very particular about this), used old software to edit, etc. We got music for free because my brother is an arranger-composer. Out of our budget, around Rs. 58,000 was for the camera and accessories, Rs. 5,000 for the mic, Rs. 13,000-15,000 token payments for the actors, and the rest for rice cakes and about 200 plates of momos and noodles.

How much work went into all the action scenes?

Lots! We wanted to make the fights the best yet in an Indian film. We would choreograph and rehearse extensively so that (a) there were lesser chances of injury and (b) we could shoot coherent fights with longer takes instead of the usual ‘high-shutter-speed-dancing-camera-50-cuts-per-second style’ that most movies use nowadays to disguise the fact that the actors can’t really fight. Every fight had its own internal story – not just a random collection of strikes. We made shot lists of every move and explored the best angles to shoot them from. And we would do as many takes as necessary to get it right. The big flying kick at the end of the trailer that we did in 26 takes! 26 kicks to the chest that laid me low for a couple of weeks. But it was worth it. The climactic fight was shot over a period of 21 evenings.

It is being promoted as India’s first martial arts comedy.

It is, isn’t it?

You have not only directed and acted but also composed the music for film?

Not all, some of the music. It’s mostly been done by my brother Tony, who’s worked on the background music of Pune 52 and several TV shows like channel V’s Gumraah.

They say making a film is easier than releasing it. Would you admit?

Hell yes! If you think making a film is hard, just try releasing it! When I was done with the film I found that in order to get it released I had to go through seven stages of paperwork hell. Service tax registration, current account, producers’ association, censor board et al. Luckily, Durlov Baruah came on board as co-producer and his company Kuhipaat Communications has been handling the distribution and marketing minefield.

What are your best and worst experiences while making this film? And what were the lessons learnt?

The best thing is always the end result when you sit in a theatre and hear people roaring with laughter at your jokes. There haven’t really been any bad experiences apart from the paperwork.

As far as the learning goes,

Lesson #1: The film will be longer than the script, so make it very tight at the writing stage itself.

Lesson #2: Learn, learn, and learn. Prepare, prepare, prepare.

Lesson #3: Different actors peak at different takes.

There are apparently many people from Bollywood who have seen and liked the film. Could you tell us more about that?

Navdeep Singh loved the energy in the film and was generous enough to give us a quote. Dibakar Banerjee also messaged that he loved it. Adil Hussain, Dipannita Sharma and Meiyang Chang have been kind enough to say so on camera. And Anurag Kashyap got us to choreograph the fight in his short film ‘That Day, After Everyday.’

Tell us about the opportunity to work with Anurag Kashyap.

Yes, it was quite a dream come true to work with one of my favourite directors. We choreographed and rehearsed the fight for four days, making an effort to use realistic techniques that a woman could actually use to defend herself against a man. For this I always first tested the techniques on my brother’s music partner who weighs 110 kg.

In terms of economics, Assamese cinema has had a tough time in recent times. Would you suppose Local Kung Fu could change a thing or two about the industry?

It would be too arrogant of me to make a statement on those lines. I just hope lots of people come to see it and be entertained.

What is the way forward for Local Kung Fu and you?

We’re looking at the possibility of a theatrical release for the Hindi dubbed version as well. As for my next project, it depends on which gets funded first. It could be my novel ‘Chocolate_Guitar_Momos’, it could be another rom-com, another martial arts film or a woman-centered rural dramedy biopic called ‘My Three Sisters’
