Soaring popularity: Modi gets rousing welcome at Mumbai airport

Just the time when his critics thought a non-party engagement does not deserve attention, his supporters proved them wrong.

Just the time when his critics thought a non-party engagement does not deserve attention, his supporters proved them wrong. BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi was thronged by his supporters at the Mumbai airport.

The leader had addressed a massive rally in Delhi yesterday only. He is in Mumbai for a non-party function in which he will inaugurate Diamond hall of Mumbai Diamond Merchant Association at the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Bandra-Kurla Complex.

His supporters, hundreds in number, packed the airport way to catch his glimpse chanting his name. He did not let any of his supporters down by giving them what they wanted. He delivered a quick 10 min speech which was full of Congress slamming and chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jay’.

In a direct challenge to the central government, he said that the centre should stop trying to fix him through agencies. In a lighter vein he added that the CBI can silence Mulayam or Maya but not him.

His rousing welcome is an ample proof of his rising popularity to his critics if they were not satisfied with the packed Japanese park of Delhi.

While home minister Sushilkumar Shinde is trying to appease Muslims via orders to CMs and other officers, Modi’s ‘secularism’ was able to draw thousands of Muslims yesterday in his support.

The crowd only furthers Congress’ problem while Modi enjoys attention.
