Dear Congress, Do You Have Respect For Our Jawans?

When their defeat was imminent, they brought so many sops for jawans and their families. But none fructified till date. Perhaps it is the result of their insensitivities that a scam like Adarsh happened.

In the 15th year of a victory that was hard fought and saw martyrdom, the Congress party does not seem to give a dime about it. While the Indian Army is preparing extensively to honour the martyrs of the Kargil War of 1999 in a series of solemn ceremonies this year, the Congress MPs think otherwise.

It is almost a re-run of Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s insensitive statement on our brave jawans’ martyrdom.

After Khan’s attempt to give a communal colour to the army by saying that the “Kargil war was won by Muslim soldiers”, Congress MP Rashid Alvi has said that the Kargil victory is only for “NDA to celebrate”.

Alvi said he saw no reason to celebrate the Kargil victory. “Kargil isn’t a thing to be celebrated. The war was fought within our territory. We didn’t even come to know when the Pakistani army crossed over and built bunkers inside our territory. It’s only the NDA which may celebrate,” he said.

Does he want to imply that the jawans fought a war putting their lives at stake just because NDA had to keep up its image? Or does the Congress consider Kargil as the BJP’s war and not the entire country’s?

A step ahead was former minister of state for home Sri Prakash Jaiswal who couldn’t even remember when the Kargil war was fought and won. Reportedly, he asked when Vijay Diwas was celebrated when asked to comment about Alvi’s statement.

It seems the misplaced sense of nationalism has clouded Congress MPs mind.

Not long ago, they had fought when it came to Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. They called it martyrdom for the country. Every day on their birthday or death anniversary, newspapers and media channels are flooded with messages with pictures of sycophants beside the mother god of Congress party.

When it comes to defending their party president’s nationality, they are first to draw the swords. But placing insensitive comments on jawans comes easily to them. They glorify the don’t-know-what sacrifice of the party president, but they refuse to accept the sacrifice that our jawans made on the border.

When their defeat was imminent, they brought so many sops for jawans and their families. But none fructified till date. Perhaps it is the result of their insensitivities that a scam like Adarsh happened.

At a time when the marriage of the party is breaking up with its allies given the weak position it is now at, it seems the party sycophants are not ready to learn.
