  1. You have an old cupboard, which had seen better days, and now you are even considering of shifting your clothes and belongings into a new one. But, what you don’t have is a proper work space where you would like to sit and work on days you don’t feel like going to office. Or, you have just started to freelance and need a designated office space which doesn’t make you feel like jobless. So all that you have to do is look at that old cupboard with a difference. If it appears tattered, you can repaint it. Slide in a desk or a sleek table to keep your laptop. Use the shelves to keep stationery, lamp, knick-knacks and all those important documents, books or files that you may need while working. Pull in a chair and you are all set.

  1. There are a few chests and tables in your room, which can be better put to use, but the only deterrent is that they look prehistoric. So get your hands on some paint and brush and give them a lease of life. You can choose from fun colours like bright blues, yellows, greens and reds or go a bit toned down with pastel shades. Now that you are done with painting, look around and you will find plenty of things scattered all around the room, simply for the lack of space. So keep all those books, diaries, dvds, camera and those extra clothes neatly tucked inside the drawers.

  1. Empty whisky, wine and beer bottles are lined up in your room and since you feel a special connect with them, you can never bring yourself to throw them out or give them away to the kabadi walla. So, if you are not planning to make some installation out of them, atleast make them functional. Pick out a few beautifully shaped bottles and turn them into lamps. The easiest is to look around the house for those festive lights from last Diwali, put one in a bottle and you are done. Or, if you want to be a little creative, get yourself a bulb and holder, dig a hole into a bottle, fix the holder and bulb into it, and you are done. If you happen to possess a bottle of Old Monk, fill that intricate design on the glass with different colours, fix in a bulb or those festive lights and you will have a beautiful lamp for your room.
