5 Things You Should Stay Away From If You Want To Be Liked By All

While you’re at your workplace, there are a few things you need to keep in mind to be wanted around by all. Here are a few things you should practice.

Man is a social animal, so were we taught in school.

Yes, we want to be liked and loved by people who surround us.

That’s perfectly fine as long as you don’t become desperate for their approval and feel pathetic when someone does not like you, genuinely.

It feels really nice to know how loved and wanted you are, especially when you’re given a lot of importance at your workplace. What’s more is that the more likeable you are, the more options you have to grow socially and beyond. But while you’re at your workplace, there are a few things you need to keep in mind to be wanted around by all.

Here are a few things you should practice.

Stop being judgemental

Get to know someone, before you jump to conclusions randomly. Give them the benefit of doubt until you understand what makes them the way they are or the way they behave with you. Somebody you don’t think quite good of might be dealing with issues you don’t understand. What you need to do is to assume the good in your coworkers first. You wouldn’t really have to lose anything if things don;t work out good between the two of you.

Clean gossip

The more number of vessels you have, the more sound will it produce, so said my grandmother. Gossip seems a harmless thing at first, probably it’s the best way to bond with your coworkers. But there is a fine line between clean gossiping and a statement though made out of fun, turning out to harm a coworker’s impression on others. The problem starts when it doe not end, and gets worse with every ear that hears it. The best thing to do here is either not adding to it or giving others the impression that you’re not really interested in gossip. At my workplace, we gossip, make fun of each other and laugh it out.

Be friendly

If you’re someone who just wants to get through the day and go home without having a chat with others, you might be giving the impression that you are not interested in getting to know your coworkers. Agreed that there’s not a lot of spare time to spend in office, but rather than just working and moving out, you could eat your lunch together, share a laugh, compliment your colleagues, if not regularly, at least once in a while, or exchange pleasantries for people to approach you without hesitation.

Be positive

There could be times when your work or opinion would be valued less than that of your contemporaries. Nevertheless, there is no better place to learn about optimism than in office environment. The more you encourage new ideas and accept changes, the better will be your rapo with fellow employees. Don’t you think?

Own upto your mistakes

You need not grovel when you mess up on a project, but at the same time playing the blame game would prove you right. Own up to the instances where you went wrong and apologize, rather than finding someone to blame for. There’s no big deal if you went wrong anywhere. It happens all the time to everyone. There’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Likeable does not mean you have to be someone you’re not or being artificial. It just means that you stop faking and adhere to a happy work environment. And when you feel that you’re trying a little too hard to make yourself liked among your coworkers, maybe you are.

If I were in a situation like that, I would just be myself and make friends, without changing my personality.
