Disadvantages Of Not Having A Boyfriend In College

College is that place where you get to meet new people, have new experiences in life, make a new set of friends and have a great time. Then there are relationships as well.

You’ve probably heard a number of people saying “those days were the best days of my life” when talking about college. College is that place where you get to meet new people, have new experiences in life, make a new set of friends and have a great time. Then there are relationships as well.

I remember my school friends asking me if I was single or not, during my first year at college. Moreover, they did not bother asking me that twice or thrice (surprised) when my answer was “Yes. I am single.” People find it very surprising when you tell them that you’re single in “college”. Well, this does not come from a personal experience but from a survey I conducted- here are a few disadvantages of NOT having a boyfriend in college…

No free goodies

You have this roommate of yours who’s totally in love and enters the room most of the days with a present in her hand. You are not ready to mingle but what you’re thinking at the moment is “I wish…” If your friends are not around, there’s absolutely nobody you could share your hot mocha or drooling cocktail with. Sad!

You are your own company

You have to do every boring thing alone. Be it doing the homework, completing the project or writing an assignment, you don’t have anybody to share it with as your friends find themselves in the same boat. Even if you and your boyfriend do not share the same subjects or stream, you could motivate each other into studying and finishing the syllabus.

You miss out on couple discounts and entries

Single ladies, how many times have you found yourselves standing outside a pub or lounge waiting for somebody to take in, so that you could avail a couple discount?

Fighting the home sickness feeling

You feel lonely when you’re sick or struggling with a really big issue. There are times when you feel so lonely, that no matter how many friends you are surrounded by you want that aura of comfort. With a boyfriend, you always have someone who would be eager to listen to you.

Peer pressure

Say, you are a group of three besties and the other two are very much in a relationship. You, your besties and their boyfriends decide to go on a trip. You already know, what thoughts could be running in your brain while on the trip.

Since none of my friends were in a relationship I never got to face any of these in college, but a number of my friends did. To receive free goodies, to share your assignments and projects, to fight the peer pressure and to avail all the couple discounts, joining the “in-a-relationship” category doesn’t sound bad, right?
