For leggie Rahul Sharma, the five-wicket haul that helped India A beat West Indies A by 93 runs in the T20 game was a huge relief as it marked his return in the game. After putting a host of controversies behind him, the 26-year old bamboozled the Caribbeans. Rahul and his Pune Warriors team member, Wayne Parnell, were amongst 90 people detained following a party at a hotel in Juhu, the suburb of Mumbai on May 20, 2012. According to the reports, drugs were consumed at the party and both the players were charged for consuming drugs in March this year but were allowed to play in IPL 2013.

“I am pleased to return with good performances after the IPL in 2012. It was a tough phase for me and I used to feel bad about it even during this season. But I had the belief that I could come out of it and do well. I dedicate this performance to my family and friends. My coach and teammates also helped me throughout the series and I am thankful to them,” said Sharma during the post-match conference.

After playing the 1st ODI, Rahul was recalled for the T20 where he went on to impress everyone with his 5 for 23 that sent West Indies A packing in 16.2 overs while chasing an improbable 215. He added, “The T20 game was expected to be more of a high-intensity contest when compared to the One-day series, so it was important that we won and won by a big margin.”
