The Ramnarain Ruia College of Arts & Science was established in June 1937. It was the first college in Mumbai to be started by the Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali, Pune. This College is affiliated to University of Mumbai and conducts courses at Undergraduate and Graduate (Postgraduate) level.

Ruia College’s outstanding performance in the field of curricular and co-curricular activities has very considerably enhanced its prestige and brought it substantial financial assistance from the University Grants Commission, the C S I R and many other equally reputed bodies.

Courses

The courses offered by Senior College in the Arts category are: B.A.(Bachelor of Arts) and B.M.M. (Bachelor of Mass Media). In the Science section the courses offered are B.SC., M.SC. and PH.D. Other than degree courses Certificate/Diploma courses are also offered to supplement and enhance the existing Bachelor and Masters courses. Most of this courses are autonomous and are designed and executed by College Faculty in collaboration with Industry, Research Institutes, Commercial Agencies as well as NGOs. The courses offered by Junior College are for both Arts and Science sections. Also, The Faculty of Arts of the Junior College has an entire division with Marathi as the medium of instruction.

Facilities

Ruia College believes that studying alone cannot help in developing the overall personality of a student. Other than a library supplemented with a plethora of books of various categories, laboratories well eqipped with instruments and appratuses and a gymkhana to inhibit the physical strength and nature of students, a number of other extra/co-curricular activities are encouraged.
