According to the International Monetary Fund, the lockdown due to COVID 19 has will keep the World economy struggling for upcoming years. Till now due to major lockdown in several countries, the GDP has already dropped to 3 percent after the epidemic has not only frozen the present economical condition.

Onset of the COVID-19 pandemic showed GDP improvement

COVID-19 onset started in January which was showing a sign of improvement to more than 155 countries but as the widespread of the disease throughout the world till March it showed the decline in the economy worldwide. This lockdown at a time throughout has also shattered the USA with the death toll of more than 40,000 cases. Total active cases have risen to more than 767189 and the epicenter of coronavirus is now the New York City. Despite total lockdown, the state has active cases of more than 5 percent of the total cases of the country. This pandemic has led to pulling down the healthcare administration of New York, after urging for financial aid White House has passed a bill of $2 trillion for different aids including the medical supports and equipment required for the pandemic.

IMF managing director Georgieva mentioned the worst situation due to the coronavirus pandemic which has already called for challenges for policymakers specifically surrounding the emerging market and the developing economies. It was beginning of this year when the economy was slightly into the recovery but the sudden steep fall has caused to severe recession.

The world economy will be in trouble for a long time….

To understand the trouble caused to the world economy let us compare the market of the last decline to 2008 with the 2020 crisis. In 2008 in the market Nifty has blown out to 65 percent while it took months to hit the economical crisis but it took 18 days Dow to drop 32 percent. The main cause of the concern in this world economic recession is the uncertainty widespread of the disease that has not pulled any kind of assurance to end the pandemic in a certain period.

Already the major pandemic outbreak has stricken Spain and Italy that come after the US with the epicenter after Wuhan in China. Comparing to the last recession this recession is uncertain and that predicts for an unstable economic condition for the upcoming years unless the pandemic is entirely under control.
Stock market 2020 has shown the repercussions due to the disease and lockdown worldwide, in the US. In 2008 a prediction was generalized to understand the span required to overcome the recession but this pandemic has out an hold on the prominent growth within a certain period, it stands unpredictable.

During the world economy downfall after 2008, the S&P 500 has seen a steep fall of 12.5 percent and a recent 4 percent. The effective period for the investors to grab and invest in companies FMCG, pharma and a few select companies that get provide the best return in the future.

Leaders of their respective parties and almost running a one-man show in their respective governments!

Both have razor sharp tongues and came to power by making promises taller than the Burj Khalifa towers in Dubai.

Of course they are competitors and competition is good in politics for betterment of the society, but as of now the two gentlemen are competing for the crown of “Who is the most incompetent of all?”!

To be honest the fight is really hard and every day brings new instances to prove that both of them are vying for this crown really desperately.

The day starts with Kejriwal’s name as a chant in and around his party office with everyone either singing his praises or his detractors, the likes of Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav vying for his blood! Same goes for Mr. Modi as his ministers and party leaders don’t start a sentence without mentioning their anndaata’s name. Ask Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad about net neutrality and he will say our PM Modi has said so and so..

You see, it is obvious that both of them are feeding their supporters within the party something which is having a hypnotizing effect! Kejriwal and Modi are being projected as leaders who can do no wrong, see no wrong, and talk no wrong! Then what perplexes a common man is if such is the case, then why isn’t anything happening on the ground as far as electoral promises is concerned?

Kejriwal came with big promises, but recently did a U-turn by saying if he can fulfill even 40% of his poll promises during his five-year stint, it would be an achievement!

On the other hand Mr. Modi promised return of black money within 100days of him coming to power and the whole nation is still waiting after a full year with bated breath about the return of at least records of who owns how much black money!

Just yesterday, Kejriwal held a rally in Delhi for the cause of farmers, even though Delhi as a state doesn’t have the kind of land required for massive industrialization. On top of it, when the poor farmer committed suicide in full public view, Arvind didn’t stop or cancel the rally; in fact he went on and on with his bhaashan for 20minutes! This doesn’t mean Mr. Modi is a saint! He makes news for wearing exorbitantly priced suits and sending Chaadar to Ajmer Sharif, but if somebody asks his government where is the compensation for poor farmers committing suicide due to unseasoned rain in recent days and no one will have any answer! To add up to it, the government is forcing the Land Acquisition Act down the throats of poor gullible farmers in an attempt to please the corporate lobby which majorly funded the elections!

Internal Party Wars for AAP and Kejriwal, while hoards of FOREIGN TRAVEL and less focus on governance for Modi: this is not what we voted for!

It would be better if these two leaders started focusing on fulfilling their promises or else the day isn’t far when the common man will exercise his vote again to kick them out of power!

What is your take on Modi and Kejriwal Gvernment?

Yes! If you watch carefully the pictures of his suit he wore for tea talks that day, you will find ‘Narendra Damodardas Modi’ monogrammed in pin stripes all over his blue suit.

The bandhgala is reported to be designed by a store in Ahmedabad for men’s clothing, Jade Blue which has been Modi’s fashion stop for decades now and the owner of the store claimed to have stylised exclusively for the Prime Minister.

However, we have a style icon and a first-time Indian PM to wear a bandhgala with this monogrammic print, although several celebrities and even political leaders of other countries have worn similar styled clothing before. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak also tried this trademark style.

International brands like Burberry and Hermes fashion clothing for men have been much popular for these trends and have made it quite the in-thing.

However, Twitteratis have given mixed reactions to this trend of personalised styling by Modi, where some have praised him as an inspiring Fashion icon, especially representing the country while others have not accepted this too well and opponents have taken potshots at him calling him a narcissist and megalomaniac!

Modi wears a jacket with his name written all over. Is this megalomania or narcissistic personality disorder? Is this curable? #psychology

Designer Anand Bhushan has, on the other hand taken this personalized textile and style statement as an initiative for fresh branding motives. “Narendra Modi himself is clearly a bigger label than Gucci. Thus, he is wearing his own eponymous brand, with his name inscribed all over the outfit!”

While Modi greeted Barack Obama and Michelle Obama at the Palam airport in beige coloured kurta and bright orange shawl, he changed his attires all through the day and even went on to carry out an elaborate bandhni as a turban with a formal black suit. The tie-and-dye turban reflected his spirit of celebration for the Republic Day as it was red, green and orange coloured with white dots all over. Well, who would know better about the bandhni technique than PM Modi who has ruled the state of Gujarat for a decade before he was opted with majority votes for Prime Ministerial duties?

You might remember PM Modi’s turban styling during his Independence Day speech, which according to designer Manish Malhotra, “he wore with incredible panache and style.”

Designers would certainly be elated with PM’s sense of fashion and styling however, the suit was hand woven using the jacquard technique that would alone cost somewhere between Rupees 80,000 to Rupees Five lakhs, let alone the price of the fabric, labour and making charges.

Modi has always been popular for his short kurtas or kurtas with half sleeves and sleeveless jackets where the store, Jade Blue has been given the rights to use the Modi label for their sets of kurtas (‘Modi Kurtas’).

Even Obama seemed to be flattered with Modi’s style statement and claimed at the banquet meeting, raising a toast to India that he wants to buy at least the ‘Modi Kurta’ for himself.

Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections on February 7, we even have ex-UPA Minister, Krishna Tirath joining the league, and yes after serving for Congress for 30 long years!

Well, if you think about it, this is nothing new, as Vinod Kumar Binny joined BJP along with BSP Deputy Mayor and Councillor, Vir Singh, former bureaucrat Devki Nandan and ex-Congress leader, Ram Kailash Gupta and claimed that “Kejriwal duped the masses as well as other AAP party members and leaders”.

Binny had reportedly also wanted to contest against Kejriwal from the New Delhi Constituency and alleged that Kejriwal had encashed his idea of ‘Moholla Sabhas’, that was executed as AAP party programme in May 2014, to discuss and plan on to how to spend Rupees 4 crore cash allotted for the MLA Local Area Development. These meetings also called for residents of some local areas of Delhi to discuss their issues with the cleanliness, safety and development of their area.

Well, whatever the truth might be, the fact remains that now BJP will be winning more support and votes from the masses, giving that they have Krishna Tirath too, who has served as the Women and Child Development Minister for UPA and a Dalit Leader, to garner the support of Dalits, apart from Delhi MP Udit Raj who was earlier chosen by BJP to be projected as the Dalit face. Udit Raj has also reportedly joined BJP just before the Lok Sabha elections. Till now the Dalit race has been AAP’s bastion.

After Binny’s strong blame against Kejriwal and the workings of BJP, we have yet another veteran, Tirath claiming that “Congress lacks discipline” and “she identifies with NaMo and Amit Shah’s motto of making the country Congress-Mukt.” Is it not strange that a party member who has served a union for so long did not recognize the indiscipline in the party any time prior to this? She had to switch her loyalties only after BJP came to power with massive vote counts and seeing other important party members (from BSP, AAP, etc.) join BJP!

However, her role in the party is still not decided and we might see BJP President Shah coming up with some new roles and agenda for Tirath. As of now, it is clear that she will be seen in the forthcoming Delhi elections on Feb 7.

Before NaMo became the PM, and even now the party seems to have no specific candidate as a nominee for the position of Delhi’s Chief Minister but with popular political personality, Kiran Bedi joining the ruling party, we might just get to see her as the party’s ‘face’ in the elections though there is a row within the party on whether she should be projected as the chief ministerial candidate.

While Tirath maintains that “BJP is the only party which cares for the Dalit community, women and youth of the country, and is disciplined”, Ajay Maken criticised BJP’s move to include other party members in its own group, claiming that “this reveals BJP’s nervousness” and alleged the party of “importing leaders in desperation.” Well, who should be nervous after gaining only eight votes in Delhi elections in 2013 and with party veterans like son of former Union Home Minister and ex-Congress leader Buta Singh, Arvinder Singh Lovely and now Ms. Tirath joining the saffron party? And, note this:

The news of Tirath meeting Shah to leave UPA and join BJP reached the Congress headquarters when Mr. Maken was releasing a booklet criticising the Aam Aadmi Party! (What a moment it might have been for Congress, I wonder!)

Till the party elections are not over, Tirath, Lovely, Binny and Ilmi will help BJP gain better support and win the assembly elections, but after that it seems only Kiran Bedi might gain from this transfer of loyalties and switching parties, as she is most likely to be the capital’s Chief Minister. This, however, has got mixed reactions from Twitteratis.

While BJP is much ahead of its rivals with the likes of Kiran Bedi, Shazia Ilmi and Jaya Prada joining BJP apart from Congress veterans like Tirath and Lovely wearing the saffron cloth, Kejriwal is left pretty alone and it seems devastated by the support he is presently garnering from the masses and not to mention his own party members, (*winks*) more so now as he has neither Anna Hazare nor Kiran Bedi by his side. When he left the position of CM in 49 days over the Jan Lokpal Bill, he still had Anna’s support and before Kejriwal formed his own party, he also was favoured by Kiran Bedi but now it seems he has lost the confidence of even the common people, much to the saying, “Janta maaf nahi karegi.”

Maybe most Moslems peaceful, but until they recognize and destroy their growing jihadist cancer they must be held responsible.

The French satirical weekly magazine, ‘Charlie Hebdo’ was the victim of the atrocious terrorism menace, suggestively on account of their cartoons questioning the Islam religion and the ideologies of Prophet Mohammad. Twelve people were killed including ten staff members of the weekly and eleven others were left injured. This attack is reportedly suspected to be a planned one by the terrorist outfit, Al Qaeda involving two brothers, Said and Sharif Kouachi, who were later killed by the French police officers, only after they managed to hold five people as hostages in a grocery store in Paris.

The micro-blogging site is swarming with comments showing condemnation and rage at the racially discriminating opinions and mind-set of Murdoch. Famous for his controversies more than his work, Murdoch has certainly created a rage on the micro-blogging site with people re-tweeting his comments even more than 7000 times especially under the hashtag #RupertsFault that has been started by the famous comedian and actor, Aziz Ansari. Ansari came up with several tweets questioning Murdoch on his annoying comments and his narrow racial outlook over 1.6 billion Muslims whom he deems responsible for the attack. Not only did he describe Murdoch as evil and ask him if he is responsible for all the evils that people of his religion (Christianity) commit, Ansari also went on to comment mockingly on the hacking scandal Murdoch and his associates from News International were involved in.

.@rupertmurdoch Rups can we get a step by step guide? How can my 60 year old parents in NC help destroy terrorist groups? Plz advise.

However, Ansari claimed that he is not against any religion and neither is he religious himself, but, wants to enlighten the masses on the ignorance Murdoch has been spreading on Twitter and his racist or particularly anti-Muslim outlook. Ansari’s comments came while he was present for the Golden Globe Awards, where he even frankly asked Murdoch in his tweets that what action the media conglomerate has taken on the several crimes that Christians have committed so far.

Ansari’s massive fan following on Twitter (approx. 4.9 million followers) took to the social media site in support of the comedian, accusing Murdoch of all possible wrong things that happen in the world.
The whole episode brings to light how even educated and established people can have crooked mindsets and twisted ideology issues that even become racist after a point of time. Kudos to Ansari and Rowling for making people aware of the right method of looking at things and for taking powerful jibes at Murdoch to open his eyes to how wrong his comments have been!

However, deeming the U.S. – NATO joint mission to be nothing but a failure with an achievement of nothing substantial, the Taliban declared its victory on Monday, December 29th.

The latter has been claimed to be the day of ‘defeat’ for the ISAF by Taliban and not only an end to their combat mission.

The 13,000 troops left out of the massive 1,30,000 soldiers from 50 different countries across the world posted during the start of war in 2001, will now have to focus on training the police and army personnel, abiding the two-year mission called ‘Resolute Support’, set to begin January 1 onwards.

These troops will have to stay back in Afghanistan to complete this mission, now that the Taliban has proclaimed the defeat and disappointment for the US-led troops.

While ISAF commander General John Campbell ended their combat mission saying that the latter “lifted the Afghan people out of the darkness of despair and given them hope for the future”, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid firmly stated, “ISAF rolled up its flag in an atmosphere of failure and disappointment without having achieved anything substantial or tangible.” (As reported to Reuters)

The war that started after the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon in U.S. that was allegedly planned by the Taliban, eventually led to a promise of reinstallation of Islamic government in Afghanistan, following the expulsion of a huge number of soldiers from the remaining troops. Now the U.S.-NATO combat mission has been shifted to nothing but a training and support mission to equip the local security forces to fight the insurgents with fight tactics, even as NATO, the international alliance had ousted the Afghanistan government from being a part of the treaty after the Taliban was accused of sheltering the masterminds behind the Sept. 11 attack on America.

The insurgents have certainly progressed in their combat of the Afghans and the coalition troops with nearly 3200 Afghan civilians, 4600 Afghan army and police and nearly 3500 foreign soldiers (including 2200 Americans) dead in the armed encounter between the militant group and the army this year itself, thus exceeding all levels of violence and bloodshed this year since its inception in 2001.

Monday also witnessed two separate attacks in Afghanistan, one on a checkpoint in Sangin, injuring three Afghan army men and the second in Helmand province, killing four soldiers.

Not to mention the colossal political unrest that has been caused as a result of the conflict, where both presidential elections have been protested against. Votes were casted in two rounds of elections, where the European Union report noted electoral frauds. The opposition leaders hurled fake accusations as soon as the former President Hamid Karzai dissolved his political powers at the seat. Ashraf Ghani took the President’s position while his strong competitor Abdullah Abdullah assumed the chief executive’s position. Ghani would now have to strive to achieve better security and aim to keep Afghan territories under his rule and control.

The outburst of violence in recent months in Afghanistan will now lead to an addition in the number of US soldiers who will work on counter-terrorism activities. Though US and its allies believe that Taliban has not been able to gain complete control over Afghan security forces, the fact remains that only eight insurgents have been killed so far while the count of Afghan and coalition troops cross thousands.

Are the Western troops truly demoralised by the war consequences as the Taliban established? Will the U.S. and its allied forces be “dealt defeats just like their masters”, as Mujahid vowed? Will the New Year see any betterment of the situation or set a new standard of terrorism?

Only time can tell.

Today, the Atal statesman has his 90th birthday and this is also the 153rd birth anniversary of Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya, which has probably turned even more special for them with the announcement of the Bharat Ratna awardee list on 24th December.

This day has also brought relief to many BJP leaders who had been demanding Bharat Ratna for Vajpayee since last five years during which Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government reigned.

Recently when cricket ace Sachin Tendulkar was conferred upon with the prestigious Bharat Ratna, BJP expressed its resentment that Vajpayee’s name had been missed out in the awardee list by the Congress government.

PM Narendra Modi has reportedly suggested the names of reformer Vajpayee and Pt. Malaviya to the President Pranab Mukherjee for the highest civilian award. NaMo has kept his word as he had apparently promised Bharat Ratna for both of them during the National election campaigns.

The first BJP leader to get the award and the first from the country’s political right to be awarded the Bharat Ratna, the veteran BJP politician will now be counted among 43 others who have been honoured with the valuable medallion, some noted ones being eminent politician C Rajagopalachari, singing maestro Lata Mangeshkar and the distinguished scientist CV Raman.

The decision was taken when Modi held a cabinet meeting with Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari, Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh and the party president, Amit Shah.

Vajpayee who was elected thrice as the Prime Minister and has been the first successful leader to lead a coalition government successfully in 2008, is considered the epitome of leadership in BJP.

However, while some welcomed the decision, others were much critical about the whole affair as we can see through some tweets:

This Christmas day since it coincides with Vajpayee’s birthday will be celebrated as ‘good governance day’ by the central government. Senior BJP Leader, LK Advani has praised the effort to present the honourable award to Vajpayee by saying that he has a “blemish-free record and deserves the Bharat Ratna.”

The conferment of Bharat Ratna is under much scrutiny now as 38 men and only 5 women have been awarded while 20 politicians have been honoured with the award out of the 43 who have got the medallion as yet. Apparently, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi self-nominated themselves for this award as they proclaimed it while still in office.

The Sufyaani will murder those from the household of the Prophet and will rule over Syria…

This quatrain from Nostradamus’ prophecies, if not for the war in Syria, can be clearly associated with the recent Peshawar attack killing hundreds of children and injuring several others.

According to reports, the massacre of 141 people, 132 of them being children in an army school in Pakistan, took place on December 16th.

Does this remind you of the movie December 16 which is again based on the lines of a terrorist attack in New Delhi with a nuclear bomb on 16 December, exactly 30 years following Pakistan’s surrender at the end of Indo-Pakistani War of 1971?

This day marked the end of the war between India and Pakistan when Pakistani Armed Forces signed the Instrument of Surrender in Dhaka, leading to the liberation of what we now know as Bangladesh (earlier known as East Pakistan).

History bears a testament to how eventful December 16th has been. Countless events, both good and bad, related to politics, sports and world developments have taken place on this very day, December 16th.

While Charlie Chaplin began his film career at merely 150 dollars a week in 1913, German battleships bombarded the English ports of Hartlepool and Scarborough during World War I, on this very day a year later. December 16, 1942 also witnessed German dictator, Hitler ordering for a combat against partisans in Russia and Balkan while, on the other hand, it recorded the first successful satellite landing on Venus by the USSR or Soviet Union in 1970.

The nuclear tests and bombs seem to have an inseparable connection with December 16th as both US and USSR experimented with nuclear bombs at Nevada test site and Eastern Kazakh respectively in 1974. The Iraq disarmament crisis called Operation Desert Fox saw both US and UK bombing Iraq that lasted four days starting from 16th December, 1998.

The republic of Kazakhstan got its independence on this eventful day in 1991 while 7 years later we saw four people killed in Fiji due to the Cyclone Evan.

16th December 2012 will be recorded in history for both victory and shame. While Corinthians defeated Chelsea at 1-0 and won the FIFA Club World Cup, a 23-year-old girl was gang-raped in a moving bus in Delhi that sparked much outrage both at home and at the global level, and will always be etched in the minds of the Indians as an ill-fated day since the brutal incident, as it ripped off humanity of all its clothes and left it naked to be shamed and humiliated.

History repeated itself with the same savagery as 16th December 2014 marked the day of cold-blooded murder of school children in Pakistan.

Wonder what this day and number has in store for us for the future as 16th century philosopher, Nostradamus’ famous prophecy of a war between India and Pakistan in 2016 comes to our minds and the year draws close!

As Finance Minister Arun Jaitly said, more disclosures will be done if and only after the government finds evidence of illegality in any of the 700 accounts whose details were handed over to it by French and German authorities.

The names that were disclosed included name of Dabur India promoter Pradip Burman, bullion trader Pankaj Chamanlal Lodhiya, Goa mining company Timblo Private Ltd and five of its directors — Radha Satish Timblo, Chetan S Timblo, Rohan S Timblo, Anna C Timblo and Mallika R Timblo.

The Supreme Court was told by the central government through affidavit that the information on Burman had been secured from the French, while on others the sources were “other countries”.

India has no official estimates of illegal money stashed away overseas. But the unofficial ones range from $466 billion to $1.4 trillion.

Interestingly, and reportedly, Radha Timblo and Lodhia have donated money to the BJP and Congress, according to watchdog NGOs.

According to the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW), while Timblo donated Rs.1.18 crore to the BJP and Rs.65 lakh to the Congress from 2004-12, Lodhia donated Rs.51,000 to the BJP.

The details of the donations made by the companies were sourced from the list of political donations listed on the Election Commission’s web site.

Agencies reported that according to the ADR-NEW statement, there are a total of 13 electoral Trusts, only seven of which have been approved by the Central Bureau of Direct Taxes (CBDT) because they were formed after the CBDT rules governing electoral trusts were notified Jan 31, 2013.

The seven trusts formed after the CBDT rules came into effect are required to submit details of their donations to the Election Commission.

The remaining six formed before the CBDT rules came into existence are not required to do so. These six trusts have donated more than Rs 105 crore to national parties between 2004-05 and 2011-12. Details of these donations are not known.

Timblo Pvt Ltd is one of the many mining companies accused of carrying out illegal mining by the Justice M.B. Shah commission, which exposed a Rs.35,000 crore illegal mining scam in the state.

But if that is the case, where BJP government revealed the name despite big donations to it by the accused, it says a lot about the party’s conviction towards bringing black money back.

As the reports suggested few days ago, the politicians, who have an account in a foreign bank, are being probed by the Income Tax to check for the illegalities if any. And the confirmation, well almost, was given by none other than former minister and Congress leader Preneet Kaur today.

Kaur on Monday confirmed through a news channel that she was indeed being probed by the IT but she maintained that the charges were baseless.

“In keeping with my reply to the Income Tax department, I should like to state that I never have had, and do not have any bank account(s) overseas in my name with any foreign bank,” Kaur, wife of former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, told a TV channel.

Reports suggest that Kaur is one of the four Congress leaders undergoing probe in the black money case. Perhaps this is the reason behind the party’s multi-pronged attack on the Centre and accusing it of “blackmail and hypocrisy”.

In an interview last week, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had claimed that the revelation of the list of Indians holding illegal bank accounts abroad will embarrass the Congress. The party hit back, “daring” the government to reveal all names or “stop blackmailing” it.

Senior Congress leader and former party spokesperson Digvijay Singh has dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and the NDA government to reveal all the names.

However, on Moday, the government revealed three names out of the 700 in the list to the Supreme Court in an affidavit and none of them were politicians or a Congress party member. These are Pradip Burman of the Dabur family, Rajkot-based bullion trader Pankaj Chalamanlal Lodhia and Goa-based mining baron Radha Timblo.

And well, the three names it included do not have anything to do with politicians.

The names revealed in the Supreme Court are: Pradip Burman, Pankaj Chimanlal and Radha S Timblo.

While Burman is the former director of Dabur, Pankaj Chimanlal Lodhiya is a Rajkot based bullion trader and Radha S Timblo is a Goa based miner.

Firstpost reported that “in 2012, the Supreme Court’s CEC (Central Empowered Committee) had noted that Goa Government had allowed Ms Radha S Timblo operate an illegal mine in Goa. A partnership firm comprising Timblo Pvt Ltd, Ms Radha S Timblo and others had managed to get a mining lease renewed by the Goa government in blatant violation of the law.”

The report also said that the Burman Group released an official statement saying that Pradeep Burman’s account was opened when he was an NRI and was legally allowed to do so.

“Moreover, all the details regarding the account have been voluntarily filed with the Income Tax department and appropriate taxes have been paid. It is unfortunate that every person having a foreign bank account is being painted with the same brush, added the statement released by the Burman Group.

Bullion trader Pankaj Chimanlal Lodhiya was reportedly ‘shocked’ and said that he did not hold any foreign accounts.

Earlier, the central goernment was not ready to share the names with the Supreme Court saying that these foreign bank account holders as tax treaties ban the disclosure of names at preliminary stages of inquiry.

Now, the government calls it its “misunderstood” stand.

The Centre will disclose more names of account holders to the court as and when the prosecution in the case begins.

The Supreme Court, based on a petition by noted lawyer Ram Jethmalani, has created a special committee to look at how to recover black money.

But the government had told the Supreme Court that it could not reveal the names received from other countries as it would violate the tax treaties with those countries.

The government feels revealing all names without scrutiny about illegalities committed by them would be a violation of the right to privacy as any Indian under the RBI rules can legitimately deposit $1,25,000 in a foreign bank per year.

But this is the scenario worldwide.

Iran today executed a woman who killed a man she said was trying to sexually abuse her. Reyhaneh Jabbari, 26, was hanged in a Tehran prison despite an international campaign urging a reprieve.

Jabbari was arrested in 2007 for the murder of Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former employee of Iran’s ministry of intelligence. She was sentenced to death by a criminal court in Tehran in 2009.

The campaign against her sentence started when people came to realize that she had a deeply flawed investigation and human rights group Amnesty International came forward in her support with them.

The campaign calling for a halt to the execution was launched on Facebook and Twitter last month and appeared to have brought a temporary stay in execution. But the surprise came in after government news agency Tasnim said on Saturday that Jabbari had been executed after her relatives failed to gain consent from the victim’s family for a reprieve.

It said her claims of self-defence had not been proved in court.

After her arrest, Jabbari had been placed in solitary confinement for two months, where she reportedly did not have access to a lawyer or her family.

Interestingly, during the curse of case, Jabbari had admitted to stabbing Abdolali Sarbandi once in the back, however, she alleged that there was someone else in the house who actually killed him.

With this, the campaign to save Jabbari ends and so does the hope to bring a change in Iran.

And all the Shiv Sena MPs will be attending it too.

After all the public posturing, the Shiv Sena has agreed to join BJP for government formation in Maharashtra.

The Sena MPs, who were invited yet undecided to join the tea party, will now meet PM Modi with gusto.

The BJP won 122 seats in the state which was 22 short of the half way mark. The NCP, immediately after election results were out, had announced to extend outside support to BJP. But the party was not read to make that kind of transformation.

The BJP had decided to go alone and form minority government. However, SHiv Sena probably realized its mistake and read the numbers and finally decided to support BJP shedding its ego.

The tea party by PM Modi, however, will not be attended by Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray as he is not an MP. Although, he may meet PM on the sidelines of the event.

The party praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visit to the Siachen in the valley on Diwali and spending it with the flood victims and the armed forces.

State NCP chief Thakur Randhir Singh said, “Modi’s visit to highest conflict zone Siachen in Ladakh is a great encouragement to our armed forces who are defending our borders under the most difficult conditions.”

He also appreciated the package announced by the Prime Minister for the flood-affected residents of the state.

“I welcome the package announced by the Prime Minister for the flood-hit residents of the state. Prime Minister’s decision to spend Diwali in Jammu and Kashmir and also with our brave soldiers that too at highest conflict zone at Siachen was a good decision,” he said.

This is the second time the party has come in support of BJP and PM Modi. After their split with Congress and BJP’s big win in Haryana and Maharashtra, NCP has been trying too hard to woo the ruling party.

They immediately announced outside support to the future BJP government after party’s win in Maharashtra. They have a lot at stake and that is precisely why they want BJP by their side desperately.

As mentioned in an earlier article, NCP needs government support to retain clout in cooperatives sector – a position enjoyed by the party and its chief Sharad Pawar – that also drives rural economy. Congress will prove to be a big rival here and what would be more better than to have the government by your side.

Next in line is the great revelation by former CAG Vinod Rai through his book which claims that former aviation minister and NCP leader Praful Patel deliberately put Air India through loss. In addition to this are other corruption charges to deal with.

The biggest in the line is the investigation on irrigation scam. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had recently asked for permission for an open inquiry against former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and senior leader Sunil Tatkare in connection with the irrigation scam.

Now that Shiv Sena has actually read it numbers and wants to join BJP again, this all wooing won’t work.

But the Prime Minister is preparing for a day with the people of the valley tomorrow.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has planned to spend his Diwali with flood victims of Jammu and Kashmir.

The agencies reported that PM Modi is expected to land at the airport in Srinagar at around 1 pm on Thursday. He will then go to the Raj Bhawan where he will meet members of flood-affected families, including women and children, from different parts of the Valley.

PM Modi will chair a meeting to review the relief and rehabilitation operations by the state and the central government agencies. He is also expected to visit the relief camps in Srinagar.

It is likely that PM Modi will announce another relief package adding to the already announced Rs 1,000 crore package to the flood hit state.

However, he will fly back to Delhi late in the evening.

The visit will definitely send out a strong political signal as the Election Commission is expected to announce the dates for polls to the J&K Assembly soon. BJP’s win in Maharashtra and Haryana is likely to affect the mood of the people in J&K with PM Modi sitting among them.

The party has taken a break and the brainstorming will be done after Diwali. A lot of names have been popping for the list which has Devendra Fadnavis’s name on the top. But something took BJP by surprise on Tuesday.

Almost 40 of its 44 Vidarbha MLAs took a flight from Mumbai to Nagpur and asked former BJP president and Union minister Nitin Gadkari to take over as chief minister. All these 44 MLAs, oddly enough, were earlier supporting Fadnavis for the job.

These newly elected MLAs assembled outside Gadkari’s home and shouted slogans like “Maharashtra ka mukhya mantri kaisa ho, Nitin Gadkari jaisa ho”.

However, the minister downplayed the development and sad that he does not want the top post.

“It is their love for me that has prompted them to urge me to become CM. But I have repeatedly said that I am not interested in returning to the state… The CM will be chosen by the parliamentary party,” he reportedly said.

Interestingly, at the same time, Gadkari’s close aid Sudhir Mungantiwar was holding discussions with finance minister Arun Jaitley in Delhi.

Mungantiwar told reporters that the party leaders wanted see senior BJP leader and union minister Nitin Gadkari at the helm of the government in the state.

“We are surprised that Gadkari has said he doesn’t want to be in the state. Party leaders feel that he should return to the state and head the government. He is the most capable due to his administrative experience,” said Mungantiwar.

The whole scenario is being seen as a muscle flexing exercise by Gadkari who wants to send a message across to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah. Both Gadkari and Fadnavis hail from Vidarbha.

Apart from Fadnavis and Gadkari, other names in the race are of former leader of opposition in assembly Eknath Khadse and former leader of opposition in legislative council Vinod Tawde.

Among them, Fadnavis was tipped to be the front runner after BJP chief Amit Shah said that Fadnvis would lead the assembly election campaign and PM Modi called him a “Gift to Nagpur” – Gadkari’s home.

Perhaps this is what irked Gadkari and a subtle display of political might took centre-stage.

But a greater task is upon the party – to find a suitable chief minister for the state.

Former RSS pracharak Manhar Lal Khattar has emerged as a favourite name among the BJP cadres.

His name was decided upon when BJP analysed the votes where majority had come from the non-Jat faction.

But there are others as well who may still have a chance to compete. These are former spokesman Captain Abhimanyu and Kisan Morcha chief Om Prakash Dhankar, both Jats. Another name that has been popping is that of party state president Ram Bilas Sharma and union ministers of state Inderjit Singh and Krishan Pal Gujjar.

Now, it is being said that standing with Khattar next in the line are Captain Abhimanyu, Gujjar and Sharma.

According to the Indian Express, the Haryana BJP legislature party is scheduled to meet at Chandigarh to elect its leader Tuesday. Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and party vice-president Dinesh Sharma have been assigned the task of overseeing the election of the leader.

Let’s take a look at these names:

Manohar Lal Khattar, 60 : He has a great political acumen and is a master of strategies. He was appointed the chairman of BJP’s Haryana election committee for the recent Lok Sabha elections. After spending almost four decades as RSS pracharak, Khattar joined BJP about two decades ago. He has been a part of election committees of 12 states including Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Rajasthan and hence, apart of the BJP success story in these states.

Captain Abhimanyu, 46 : He is the youngest of them all. He is a Harvard graduate who joined and then quit army in 1994 after serving for six years. He started his own business and then joined politics. He is one of the prominent Jat leaders in the state. He came into limelight during the 2014 BJP campaign when he was elevated to the rank of national secretary and general secretary of the Haryana BJP. Reportedly, Abhimanyu lost against Bhupinder Singh Hooda from Rohtak when he first contestd electon in 2004. Same was against Hooda’s son Deepender Hooda in 2005, again from Rohtak. He then contested from Narnaund assembly segment in 2009, but lost to INLD’s candidate. This time, he contested from Narnaund and won by a margin of over 6,000 votes.

Krishan Pal Gujjar, 57 : He comes from a very humble background of peasants. He developed interest in politics while he was studying in Jawaharlal Nehru University. He was once general secretary of the college student union. After graduation, he pursued a degree in law from Meerut university. His formal entry to politics was through Faridabad Municipal elections which he won in 1994 and became a councillor. The journey that started saw him as Haryana transport minister in the Bansi Lal government in 1996. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Gujjar contested from Faridabad constituency and won with the highest-ever margin of over 4.6 lakh votes.

Ram bilas Sharma, 63 : The oldest contendr, he is five-time MLA and three-time minister from Haryana. Like Khattar, he too has an RSS background which he joined while in college. He joined the Delhi office of RSS as a proof-reader for the newspaper Motherland. He joined Geeta Vidyalaya in Kurukshetra as a lecturer but left it later on the request of his mentor late Dr Mangal Sain and joined politics actively. Under his leadership as Haryana BJP president, the party won seven out of eight seats it contested in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

His party polled 11.88 percent of the votes in all the 143 seats that the party contested.

In Mumbai the MNS had received around 24 percent of the city’s votes, far ahead of the Shiv Sena and emerged as the second largest party in Mumbai with six seats. It had ensured the defeat of Sena-BJP candidates in 11 of the 36 constituencies in Mumbai and prevented the alliance from winning 26 of the 36 seats in the Mumbai, Thane region.

The party also ate into the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance by splitting the votes during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

Raj was immediately taken as a serious contender in the Maharshtra politics. He was seen as a man who could take on the Shiv Sena and legacy of Balasaheb whose son Uddav was nowhere near the charisma he exuberated.

This assembly elections, when Bhartiya Janata Party decided to go solo and discard its second fiddle position, MNS was standing in an arena with four corners already defined. It was a difficult task to find its footing but not impossible.

The MNS won just one seat in the battle. And now Raj Thackeray faces an existential crisis.

The reason behind his small stardom is his lack of an ideology different from Shiv Sena. The party failed to reinvent on the Marathi agenda and its ‘Marathi Manoos’ card failed due to the anti-incumbency against Congress and NCP.

In addition to this, Raj had an ambiguous stand on BJP. One day he was slamming the party, other day he was praising their leader.

Also, he played a bait which the Thackeray clan has never done. The MNS chief declared he would contest the Assembly elections. After Uddhav failed to rise to his bait, he changed his mind saying, “The entire state of Maharashtra is my constituency and I do not want to limit myself to just one constituency.”

At a time when he could have slammed the Congress-NCP coalition in the state left, right and centre, he failed to rise to the moment. He even failed to take advantage of the BJP-Shiv Sena split.

Now Raj Thackeray is left with one seat while BJP and Shiv Sena won the battle.

During the vitriolic campaign, leaders from both the political parties were involved in war of words. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it a point to accuse NCP of corruption in every single of his speeches.

One may have thought that NCP would jump the wagon and persuade BJP for being a part of the power seat, especially after it split with Congress, but to be so opportunistic was not what anyone would have taken NCP for.

So why is NCP so desperate to join BJP?

Well, for starters, and obvious, NCP would like to remain closer to the power seat that living at the mercy of BJP.

Also, it would and can do anything to keep the local Shiv Sena from power which becomes a possibility given the current assembly election results.

After all, BJP is more likely to go for old ally than new friend for government formation. But with NCP extending outside support and Shiv Sena already hammered its relations with BJP may make the go do the work.

Second, NCP needs government support to retain clout in cooperatives sector – a position enjoyed by the party and its chief Sharad Pawar – that also drives rural economy.

So, here we have, NCP being so sweet and helping out BJP for the “stability of Maharashtra” for it wants its own stability, desperately.

The Bhartiya Janata Party has emerged as the largest party in both Haryana and Maharashtra.

In Haryana, the party has a clear majority with 47 out of 90 seats in the kitty and will form the government. While in Maharashtra, with 122 seats the party is just short of the majority and has a lot of options in front of it.

The Sharad Pawar’s NCP has already extended the party an offer of outside support.

Though the BJP will have to weigh and see what actually goes behind it. Shiv Sena, with its 63 seats has said that it would consider if someone offers to take it along, but it forgets that it does not wield that power now.

The BJP has a lot to decide on. First, it has to decide on the name of the chief minister for both the states. Then it will have to decide who to take along, especially in the case of Maharashtra.

NCP, though it has extended an outside support, comes with a lot of baggage. It has just split up from Congress party in the state and had piggy-backed with it for all these 15 years. It was one of the main source of corruption in the state which led to Congress party’s decimation.

If NCP is so readily agreeing to support BJP, it must be too desperate to remain in power or either keep Shiv Sena away from the seat of power. In addition to this, there is one file on Ajit Pawar, a case to be built of former aviation minister Praful Patel and a lot to be probed about chief Sharad Pawar.

Shiv Sena, on the other hand, needs to be taken into the BJP fold again but with a firm hand. Uddhav Thackeray needs to be trained and reigned by Modi so that he doesn’t run amuck in the future.

Then will come the radmap for taking these two states on the path of development as promised by Modi.

Congress, for the time being, needs to accept defeat and learn to live away from the power seat. It has a rare knack of finding amusing people with misplaced emotional sense.

While Rahul Gandhi was smiling after the serious drubbing of the party in the Lok Sabha elections, the new spokesperson of the party, Americai Narayanan (yes, that’s his name) accepted defeat as if it was a crown to be worn.

On his debut on Times Now, he accepted that the corruption in and by Congress was the main reason behind its defeat. He used a term which became the holy grail for twitteratis and another shame for Congress.

As Americai would have put it: Hell yeah! Congress lost in this battle which was against one man.

Meanwhile, a look at the instant stardom of our ne Congress spokesperson:
