Eligibility

As architects study planning and designing of physical structures, a mental inclination and orientation is of utmost importance to move ahead in this career. Science with Maths in 10+2 is the basic eligibility when applying at graduate level in India. A number of private as well as government colleges offer UG courses, at the end of or during which students can also take up internships to gain practical experience and better up job prospects. A Bachelor’s degree in architecture (B.Arch) is generally of five years including your intership span.

Qualifications

The first and foremost thing you need to have to pursue a career in architecture is artistic skills, which will also be verified when you appear for your UGET. Because architecture requires a lot of field work, you need to have immense physical stamina and sound communication skills to get into this profession. Also, because the work involves a huge team, for professional success in this field it is important that you are flexible and patient with the progress of the work.

Job prospects

Architects can work with construction companies wherein they are asked to serve as a designer. frelancing or consulting are also good option is this field, but are not suggested in early career, as you need to have good experience and skills to work independently.

A number of jobs in architecture come up in government organizations like Public Works department, National Building Organization, Town and Country Planning organization etc. Architects working independently have ample scope when it comes to earning.
