As far as upgrades are concerned, both bikes have been received better styling and mechanics.

Crucial changes that Yamaha has made to its bikes

The Yamaha FZ series bikes were first introduced in India in the year 2008. The company decided to refurbish the Yamaha bikes in terms of design. Now the new pillions have new headlamps, new silencer, new mudguard, upgraded fuel tank and a different registration plate. However, the biggest change is the introduction of the new fuel-injection system and a somewhat reduced displacement capacity. Such a displacement reduction has led to a difference in the power output figures as well. According to new figures, it has come down to 12.92bhp and 12.8Nm of torque from 13.8bhp and 13.6Nm.

Improved fuel efficiency

A noticeable effect that you will find in Yamaha FZ-S and FZ motorbikes is that the fuel efficiency has improved by 14%. On the other hand, emission has reduced by 33%. In addition, the new Yamaha bikes are lighter (weighing 3 kg less) and sport an improved mileage.

Latest designs

If company reports are to be believed then the new Yamaha bikes have latest best design and tread patterns on their tyres’ rubber. These features will provide a better grip on the road and improved puncture resistance. However, the tyre size remains the same. Yamaha claims that though there the renewed bikes have lost a pinch of power, these models are faster than the older ones. The new Blue Core technology also adds to the splendor of the motorbikes.

Positive sales figures

According to Yamaha Motor India Sales Vice President- Sales & Marketing Roy Kurian the main reason behind upgrading the older versions was to strengthen the company’s sales in this particular segment. The bikes have been re-launched on 30th June. As per the latest reports Yamaha is currently selling about 18,000 units per month of the FZ series, including Fazer. In addition to this there are other two models from the Japanese bike company that is expected to sell 24,000 units per month.

With the re-launch of the FZ series, Yamaha Motor India has redefined the 150 cc bike segment. The ride quality and performance are better than the rest of the lot. If you are looking for a bike with better engine quality and faster ride then you can happily choose from Yamaha FZ and FZ-S bikes.
