Toyota Etios Cross: For Those Who Wish to Own a CUV at An Affordable Price

Toyota launched the Etios Cross, CUV- Cross Utility Vehicle, this month. With appealing exteriors, comfortable interiors, and an affordable price, the car looks promising.

Toyota has launched its most-awaited model – the Toyota Etios Cross in India.

With a price starting Rs. 5.76 lakhs, the car is an incredible admixture of improved features of the prevalent Etios Liva and the looks of a crossover. It is especially a boon for those who wish to own a CUV at an affordable price.

This product from the house of the Japanese carmaker, displayed at the Auto Expo in New Delhi in February this year, is one of the most talked about models. With an encouraging Toyota Etios Cross review from the other parts of the world, the Indian Auto market was eagerly looking forward to its launch.

Models Available:

The Toyota Etios Cross is available in the following four grades:

  • Toyota Etios Cross 1.2L G (Petrol Engine)
  • Toyota Etios Cross 1.5L V (Petrol Engine)
  • Toyota Etios Cross 1.4L GD (Diesel Engine)
  • Toyota Etios Cross 1.4L VD (Diesel Engine)

Exteriors & Interiors:

Inspired by the Etios Liva, the Toyota Etios Cross exteriors exude oodles of style. With an aggressive design, impressive front grille, sturdy roof rails, striking side cladding, sporty alloy wheels, imposing fog lamps with integrated turn indicators, rear defogger with wiper, ORVMs with turn indicators and more, the car creates the right first impression!

The Toyota Etios Cross interiors are equally appealing. The seats of the car look attractive and don a good quality black fabric with visible white stitches. The other Toyota Etios Cross features include a remarkable 2-DIN audio system enabled with Bluetooth, USB & Aux-in support, leather draped steering wheel, adjustable seats, tough suspension system, keyless entry, anti-lock braking system (available in diesel models only), airbags (available in V and VD models only), and more.

Available in 8 mesmerizing shades – Celestial Black, White, Vermilion Red, Ultramarine Blue, Inferno Orange, Symphony Silver, Classic Grey, & Harmony Beige, the car will compete with the likes of VW Cross Polo and Ford EcoSport.

Engine & Performance:

Powered by 3 types of engines – 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol & 1.4-litre diesel – we expect the Toyota Etios Cross to generate a mileage of 17.71 kmpl, 16.78 kmpl and 23.59 kmpl respectively.

The G grade 1.2L petrol engine would muster 79 bhp of power at 5600 rpm and yield 104 Nm torque at 3100 rpm. The V grade 1.5L petrol engine would generate 89 bhp at 5600 rpm and 132 Nm torque at 3000 rpm. The GD and VD 1.4L diesel engines would produce 67 bhp of power at 3800 rpm and 170 Nm of torque at 1800-2400 rpm.

Price:

The Toyota Etios Cross Price range is Rs 5.76 lakhs to 7.41lakhs.

Verdict:

Already a super hit in Brazil and Argentina, we expect the car to do well in India as well. With dazzling exteriors, improved interiors, fuel-efficient engines, and backed by Toyota’s QDR (Quality, Durability & Reliability) standards, prospective buyers have high expectations from this car.

However, the car comes with a few drawbacks too. The car, inspired by the prevalent Toyota models is only an improved version and does not have anything new & exciting to offer. The ground clearance is also not impressive and the airbags & ABS are not available in all the models.

We would have to wait for a few more weeks to surmise if the car meets the anticipations of the buyers. With Toyota already busy taking bookings for the Etios Cross, we foresee feedbacks and reviews from direct users to flow in soon!
