What has Jaya Bachchan done now?

The actor is in the news again, not for losing her cool or slamming the media right and left, but for taking up a project on the small screen. Mrs Bachchan will be seen on the ‘chotha parda’ very soon and we hear she is all set to play a strong and inspiring character on screen. The Guddi actor created headlines recently for reprimanding a set of reporters who addressed her daughter-in-law as Aishwarya. She lost it on them and hit back by saying that ‘Ash doesn’t study in your class, stop calling her that.’ Phew! We must say Mrs Bachchan has quite a temper and is equally good at creating some heavy-duty drama. We can already see her matching the pre-requisites of being a successful television artist.

This is not Jaya Bachchan’s first stint with TV and the whole daily soap hoopla. She had stepped into the shoes of a television producer a long ago with popular series Dekh Bhai Dekh. The veteran actor’s new show will be aired on Sony and produced by Endemol. It seems it’s about a woman whose husband has disappeared all of a sudden and just when she gets a grip over her life and has moved on, he gets back. Somehow brings back flashes of the actor’s character in Kal Ho Na Ho. It was nowhere similar to this one, but a widow raising a family all by herself was all very intense and inspirational.

While the angry ol’ man’s biwi will be seen showing off her acting chops on the small screen, the dishy ol’ man himself will be seen following in his wife’s footsteps. Amitabh Bachchan will be seen acting on the small screen too. The series will be directed by Anurag Kashyap and will be based on thought provoking social issues. Bachchan will be seen playing a construction tycoon on the show. Apparently he is made to look way younger than his chronological age in the serial.  

The Bachchans are totally gearing up to set the small screen on fire. Let’s see how things turn out for these two gorgeous veteran stars…
