Modi’s First 9 Nominees For Swachh Bharat Abhiyan – #SwachhBharatAbhiyan Creating awareness…hello aren’t people aware of the garbage dumped everywhere?
#SwachhBharatAbhiyan – An initiative to clean India was launched by our PM Narendra Modi. The campaign was launched on 2nd October, 2014 that also marks Gandhi Jayanti.
Citing Gandhiji’s principle of ‘cleanliness next to Godliness’ our PM initiated the Nationwide drive and also nominated 9 personalities who would then nominate nine more after completion of their tasks.
Very eagerly the nominated personalities jumped into the limelight and were found across India sweeping roads.
Call it publicity stunt or even seeking the chanced attention, these personalities made headlines and were covered all across the channels.
Sachin Tendulkar being the exception that he is in everything he takes up, Sachin Tendulkar’s practical video strikes a chord and actually shows the reality of the difficult job of cleaning a place.
He went on to a full-fledged mission and as he strives hard to clean we all kind of connect to his struggle of cleaning the place.
Also Priyanka Chopra had been highly criticized for not doing anything about it. But man what a video she came up with. She took up a charge and actually cleaned the entire slum.
Reports of sweeping roads can be one of a kind activity but to actually redevelop an entire section is something highly commendable.
All the other celebrities added to the sweeping factor and coming in front of cameras. Not doubting their contribution even for a second but it felt as if theywere doing it for the sole purpose of hitting the headlines or playing by the PM’s demands.
Obviously when PM nominates you, it is an obligation to make the attempt.
Let us have a glance at all the attempts made by these personalities and the possible benefits that can be linked:
1) Anil Ambani
He took up the challenge and was seen sweeping an area at the Churchgate station.
He also took the initiative to Badrinath and Kedarnath in Uttarakhand and appealed the people there to keep India’s temples clean.
2) Baba Ramdev
He began ploughing and taking the process of cleaning from an ashram in Haridwar to the streets of Har-ki-pauri area. He also aimed at cleaning Ganga. Well was it all to attain the Z security?
3) Kamal Hassan
The veteran actor politely gave the message that it was a public service, very clearly indicating that he wasn’t going to follow the entire publicity stunt.
He even said that he had been working towads this cause since long.
“I think this cleansing is something I had been doing for the past 20yrs with the help of my fans.”
4) Mridula Sinha
The Governor from Goa was seen cleaning the area near her office premises.
5) Sachin Tendulkar
The legendary cricketer gathered with his friends for the cleanliness drive. The video shows him in the early morning at 4am all ready to sweep the Reclamation area in Bandra (W), Mumbai.
This one was a very structured cleanliness drive. He clearly says that it is not a one day job.
Also see him how he explains the drivers to not spit. A very emotional chord strikes as he links ‘Bharat maa’ to Motherland.
The challenge of cleaning is seen as we see the place they had cleaned getting dirty the very next day.
6) Salman Khan
He was also seen wearing the fancy broom and sweeping the roads.
7) Shashi Tharoor
Here the matter became politically bitter. After falling flat on face the Congress is eagerly keeping a skeptic eye on every move of the PM.
The agenda of the Nationawide cleanliness drive went for a toss as Tharoor was criticized by his own party people for not understanding the hidden agenda of Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan as a political gimmick.
8) Entire team of Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
They went digital as they asked viewers to post pictures of their little contribution and upload on www.tmkocmycleanindia.com
9) Priyanka Chopra
Last but not the least Priyanka Chopra’s video went viral after the release. She redeveloped the entire slum area. Below is the video:
Unlike other celebs who jumped into the bandwagon of public cleaning glare…looks like Priyanka Chopra took her time and finally came up with a proper structured result.
This isn’t ice bucket challenge, cleaning places in this country is a far fetched task almost like a distant reality.
