A New Twist In Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate: Will It Work?

New twist in Aamir Khan’s show Satyamev Jayate where celebrities will be part of the show and will talk about various causes and campaigns. This can be another platform for these megastars to promote their films. Or may be not!

Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate will now have celebrities also as part of the episodes.

Is it a good thing?

Would it help the cause of the show?

Is it a publicity gimmick for higher TVT’s?

These and many such questions immediately come to mind when one hears about the use of celebrities from Bollywood for a show like Satyamev Jayate.

In its two seasons, the show has established itself as something which is genuinely trying to bring a difference to the society and our country as a whole.

Aamir has succeeded in addressing the most pressing issues facing the nation and brought some of the most uncomfortable topics out of the closet for a public debate. This in itself is a reason that the show has garnered unprecedented viewership in its genre!

Now comes, the news that in the forthcoming season, which most probably will begin sometime in October, some of the famous Bollywood personalities will become a part of the show to raise awareness about various causes. For example, recently Kangna Ranaut, Deepika Padukone and Parineeti Chopra shot for an episode in Yash Raj Studios which is dealing with women empowerment. All these ladies are role-models and have made a place for themselves in society based on sheer hard work and talent. Therefore, their views and presence shall definitely add to the overall message that Aamir and the show wants to give to the audience.

However, if we dig a bit deeper, there is another hidden subtle way of marketing involved as well. Aamir’s next movie, PK, will release in Dec’14. Before that he will be seen all over doing promotions for it. At the same time his show will be on air, giving indirect publicity to the movie. Now, with these big-shot actresses and other hot film-actors, like Salman Khan and others coming on his show, more and more people might be tempted to watch it, hence more publicity. This surely looks like a case of killing two birds with one stone!

Obviously, Aamir is such a perfectionist, that he will make sure that the show remains true to its spirit of trying to bring a positive change in society. In case it adds on to some free direct or indirect publicity and marketing of his movie, the better it is!

PK is already generating enough curiosity on its own strength through controversial poster launches, but as they say, no publicity is ever enough.

Let’s hope that a good show like Satyamev Jayate doesn’t become another platform for film-stars to promote their movies.

If these actors’ presence can bring a positive change, they are most welcome!
