If the parents wanted to teach their children the life
skills that will not definitely happen within a day or a week. It will take
time, consistency and effort throughout their life in teaching these skills to
them.

1. The ability to cook

Every child must learn the ability to cook right from
their childhood before they become adults. When the children become adults and
begin to work on their own, then it can be helpful. This might help them when
they leave their parents to live on their own.

2. Doing own laundry

Doing their own laundry can help the children as
adults living independently after their childhood. Once they leave their home
to live alone it can help the children in a huge way. Hence it becomes
essential to teach the children both cooking and laundry skills.

3. Typing skills

Typing faster can fetch good computer skills to earn
money. By learning to type, children can start off their computer operations
right early. This can help them get money when they grow up.

4. Fiscal responsibility

Children must learn methods to save money. This can
help them learn their potential to save money for their future life.

5. Staying healthy with exercises

It is extremely important to exercise daily and keep
fit. Children can be taught sporting skills like running, jumping, hiking,
climbing and other exercises to keep fit and healthy. This can make a child
practice the same as an adult and even after growing up. This, in turn, can
help the child avoid common diseases like cholesterol, diabetes, etc. that
catch even the children.

6. Dressing correctly

Dressing right to the right occasion is extremely
necessary. Hence it is extremely necessary to dress up for an occasion right to
catch the attention as well as the respect from others. The children must be
taught about the dressing skills right from their childhood to dress correctly
and right.

7. Time management

It is highly necessary to manage time and adjust to
the situations to finish the tasks on time. This can make the employer happy
and helps to earn more money and help the child be rich in the future.

8. Response to emergency

Emergency response is equally important in managing
emergency situations. Dialing an emergency number is the basic emergency skill
that can be taught to a child. Next would be teaching the right first aid
skills to the child.

9. How to clean the home?

Every child must be taught different ways to clean the
home. How to use the mopper, sweeper, etc. How to apply floor cleaners and so
on. This can help the child to keep their home clean when they become adults.

10. How to use public transport?

Using public transport is the easiest and cheapest
mode of transport. Even if a child knows how to drive a car it is essentially
important for them to know the ways to take public transports to reach their
destination.

As I grew up, reaching senior section, changed my perspective. Becoming a teacher, was no more my aim. It kept shifting with my interests in subjects. Doctor, engineer, artist, archeologist, interior decorator and what not.

The reason I believe that made me want to be a teacher, at that point in my life, was my inspiration- my mother. I was two when she joined a convent school. She would take me with her, when I had a holiday and hers was a working. She would make me sit in a corner in the faculty room and give me assignments to finish, by the time she came back. In the meanwhile, I would take a tour to the neighbouring rooms, in the playground, on all the swings and even the Principal’s room at times. Coming back from school in the afternoon, my father would ask me if I liked Mummy’s school, and I would gladly smile and tell him, that I wanted to be her, when I grew up. I took pride in telling my friends all about my experiences, and how I spent my day, at another school.

As I grew up, I felt uncomfortable about she being so dedicated to her students and school, than us(me and my brother). She used to come back from school and tell us all about her day, which student did she think could do good, what else does she need to implement in her teaching, how could she help a student improve in subjects she wouldn’t teach, and all that.

Inquisitive, I asked her, one fine day, that if she really wanted to become a teacher. She smiled, said maybe not. She wanted to get into the administrative services. But fate had something else in mind. She told me that, she probably would never have loved her job as much as she was loving it here. That, she was wrong to consider the administrative services as a career, because no other career could give her so much of satisfaction and contentment as this did.

I felt jealous, not because she was dedicated so much towards her work, but because that dedication, somwehere, was taking away what my contemporaries had- a mother beside, all the time. Hardly did I know then that, in time, that would make me possess more endurance and also make me self dependent.

Present Day: Having graduated from a reputed college in the southern part of the country, in one of the most popular streams, I considered joining an NGO, that contributed for the upliftment of underpriviledged children of the society. I conveyed this to my parents. Though my mother supported me in this endeavour, my father wasn’t very sure about it. He probably, had imagined me working with Mahindra, Ashok Leyland or NTPC. But he never discouraged me as well.

Most of the people I talked to this about, gave me the same reaction. Why? You have a degree and an on-campus placement. Why do you want to spoil your career, they said. Not that I expected any other reaction, but this was something that made me wonder about, how astounding is it to discourage ourselves and people around, to take up school teaching as a career. Education, has always been a pressing issue for the country. The World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Index 2013, shows India at the top of the list, for primary education enrollment. That, is some good news. But what about the teachers? Do we really have qualified teachers?

An acute deficit is observed, when it comes to skilled and qualified teachers in schools. A UNESCO report suggested that, we might need to enroll more than fifteen lakh teachers to support the 1:30 teacher-pupil ratio, by 2015. Do we really have as many educational institutes to train candidates as qualified teachers? Do we realize that the reason teaching is looked down upon in this fast growing world? People who are qualified never even care to be a teacher, and those who aren’t, are left with no other option.

Technically speaking, teaching as a profession has seen as glorious days as, being a senior manager today has. Our society runs on traditions and cultures. You leave home for studies, come back and be a teacher, the society will do nothing other than making fun of you. More than half of the newly opened schools have business minded faculties and Dean.

We need to change our mindset. Teaching formed the base of what we are today. Remember when your science teacher taught you to conserve water, so that our future generations can have safe and pure drinking water? Don’t you think pursuing school teaching will have the same effect.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

No, she is not!

This is just an idea we are exploring and we are 100% sure that if somehow this is brought into practice, none of our classrooms will ever be empty!

Does this sound too exaggerated? Who cares?

The fact is that we are least interested in the subjects that matter and more inclined towards things that don’t hold much value in life except titillating us for a while! So why not mix them both? Sunny Leone teaching the youth of the country will be the next big thing in the world of education! As such, it is difficult to get kids to focus on anything these days, their attention span is limited and with all these gadgets at their disposal, they hardly care about what’s happening around them. Let Sunny take over and get these kids to behave!

We are sure you have many questions buzzing in your head about how to go about it! Let’s go step by step and help you understand the detailed methodology of bringing this idea of the century to fruition!

The first question coming to your head might be does Sunny Leone know enough to teach? Well, we can have experts teach her first and then she can teach the same stuff to students!

Secondly, how can one Sunny Leone teach a million students across the country?

Simple, this is the era of technology! Video-conferencing is the key for all such noble ideas, you know!

Thirdly, what is the guarantee that students will be focusing on studies and not on Sunny herself?

Well, here we can devise some incentive schemes for students. For example, if they deliver their assignments on time, score a particular percentage in exams, the lucky few out of them might get a chance for lunch or dinner with Sunny! Now think, which student is going to let go of such a lucrative offer?

May be we can keep Sunny’s lectures twice or at the most thrice a week, so that her exclusivity is maintained as well as the requirements for lectures is also met. Remember, this is not to undermine the sincere, genuine and worth-applauding efforts of all the teachers working so hard in various schools and college all year round. Sunny will not be their competitor, but kind of a support system. What she can’t teach due to her own limited educational background and time-constraints would obviously be taught by regular teachers!

Our nation needs to learn, understand and respect our history to make a better future. As such, no student ever said he or she loves history! May be Sunny can change the mindset and bring a revolution in the country! Once history is conquered, we can use her expert services in other subjects as well. After all, if this kind of an experiment succeeds in one subject, it will surely succeed in others too!

Think about it guys, this is the first step towards educational reforms, especially after the government of India is banning all kind of porn! What else can poor Sunny Leones of the world do? Let’s help her and many like her, in helping us as well!

It’s a win-win situation, what say?

Want to work just a few hours and have lots of vacations?

Yeah, now I guess I have the attention of all you lazy guys who are getting tormented by the sheer thought of working 14-15 hours like their friends and family normally does!

Don’t torture yourselves; we have a solution for you!

The only profession which offers you decent money, half a day of job and lots of vacations every year is also the noblest one.

Become a teacher!

See, you can also earn morality points by shaping the future of a generation along with earning money and teaching profession offers you lots of free time so it’s a win-win situation.

First of all, don’t assume that a teacher’s job is easy and of no consequence!!

It is one of the most responsible jobs and if not taken seriously, can seriously hamper the future of the entire nation. Teachers, after parents, are the ones who mould the impressionable minds of tiny toddlers and young kids into something, which makes them civilised and prepare them for a productive life ahead.

However, the job mostly requires 6-7hours a day of your time. Normally the working day starts from 7:30-8am and is over 1:30-2 pm. At the most, one can reach home by 3pm and then just chill! Or maybe do other chores and spend time with family.

Besides this, there are multiple long vacations to be enjoyed every year. In summers, it’s almost one and a half month of vacations and then in winters there is again almost two weeks of vacation. In some schools and education boards, period around Dushhera and Diwali also gets you about a week of vacations. These are the mandatory ones and then there are various other kinds of holidays all through the year to keep you relaxed and always rejuvenated so you can give your best!

Is it sounding exciting? Jumping out of that couch right away to join a school? Hold your horses, just wait!

It is not easy to be a teacher though! You got to know what you’re good at. You need to fulfil basic requirements to be a teacher like having a B.Ed degree. Most of all, you should have an aptitude to be around children and love them to bits without getting affected by their indiscipline or non-stop chatter!

If you just want to earn money, don’t join the profession. Only if you feel that you can contribute significantly to our education system, start preparing for a job.

After all, a profession that offers you to laze around deserve commitment and responsible behaviour in return of the few hours it seeks from you for working!

Respect Teachers!
