Sita is worshipped as a Goddess, who can transcend consciousness. In Ramayana being the wife of Rama, she had to suffer from different trials and obstacles. Till her death, which is known as Sati she had burnt herself to the pyres of fire. Leaving the Kingdom of Ayodhya to exile with Rama and Lakshman was the worst time that she had after her marriage. But her abilities and courage always point out as a capable ruler who could replace Rama and rule the Kingdom.

Kaikeyi did not want Rama being the stepson to be the king of Ayodhya. Even Sita had stepped out with Rama to the exile for spending fourteen years. Being a ruler, Rama was considered as the admired ruler by his people. On other hand, Sita had also the ability to replace Rama. Her spread of popularity as the Sita Mataa, after the birth of Luv and Kush, had elevated.

Power of courage and honesty

The power of Sita has shattered the evil and dominating thoughts of Ravana. Ravana being the most powerful King, the demon was not been able to force and divert Ramaa. She was honest to express her feelings about Ramaa and also the hatred towards the King of Demons.

Her honesty to speak clear and courage to face the Demon points to her ability to manage enemies. A ruler of a kingdom requires to have the characteristics for a strong reign.

Sati rituals and her return shows ability of capable ruler

Rituals by Sati have been practiced in real times even after several years of the mythological story of Ramayana. To prove her innocence and her commitment towards Ramaa she jumped in the bed of fire. After returning from the captive of Ravana, she had to prove her purity to society.

Her beginning journey was with Rama but slowly she was found to fight her journey alone. To prove her innocence and courage towards society, it made her popular among her people. She had earned a distinctive identity as a brave woman with unbeatable power.

Determined and intelligent

After her return back to the forest, she gave birth to twins, Luv and Kush. Both were grown under the guidance of Valmiki. Well trained in arms, weapons, and other skills, she tried to put in the best effort for her kids.

Sita’s determination and intelligence have enabled her twins to give an education similar to the King’s child.

Devoted and farsighted as capable ruler

Her devotion towards her husband led her to leave the Kingdom,  separate from Ramaa. Despite undergoing through the Agni Pariksha she was thrown out into the jungle while she was pregnant. Almost after a decade of staying together they had twins, had she not been to exile then both Luv and Kush would have been ruling the Kingdom.

Rama was able to rule his kingdom but to further think about the future of the Kingdom, Sita had better intentions and capabilities. Being a capable ruler needs to be farsighted, committed, and courageous, Sita had all the features to rule a Kingdom better than Kaikeyi.

King Ravana is a negative character of Ramayana, the king of Lanka with the power of “Dusshanan”. The king with ten heads enhances the power of being immortal.

The top disciple of Lord Shiva was this 10 headed King. Due to his intense devotion towards Lord Shiva, he became the closest devotees blessed with the boon of never dying.

Though he has a defaming character for kidnapping Sita, the great King was one of the best Kings of Epic.

King Ravana with skills of Warrior

The ancient literature and arts mention Ravana as one of the great warriors who belongs to the empire of Lanka. Ravana was the king who won several battles and defeating demons, emperors to capturing territories.

Finally, he was given the boon of celestial nectar immortality. The Great King Ravana knew about his death, he was aware that the powerful emperor will be killed by the incarnation of Vishnu. His blessings of immortality were in danger with the birth of Lord Rama.

Musician, Artist, and Scholar

The art scriptures describe Ravana as a great artist who has knowledge of 64 different arts. The powerful demon also had the knowledge of tantra vidya, who is known as Brahmyarakshasha. As a musician, he was an excellent Veena player. Being well skilled in music and art he invented the Ravanhatha.

The instrument was easy for the beginners to learn the ragas and play them. It was similar to a violin that was connected with strings for playing the Ragas. So, the Great King, the Dravidian ruler had a keen interest in music, and the poet has the composition “Rudra Stotra” dedicating to Lord Shiva.

Astrologer

Ravana was a great astrologer with greater knowledge wrote the book “Ravana Samahita”. He also invented the Ayurvedic method “Arka Sastra”. His Kumara Tantra is the guidance to treat the diseases related to infants.

The great King Ravana had the wisdom that was able to determine with his descriptive information about astrology in his book.

Great Grandson of Brahma

The ruler of the demons, Ravana was the Great Grandson of Brahma. He was the son of a priest or Rishi Visrava, who was a Brahmin and married Kaikesi from the demon community. This is the reason he is known as a Brahmarakshasha.

Demon or the Great King Ravana has always been introduced as a powerful villain character. But apart from kidnapping Sita, that led to ending his immortality due to ego and overconfidence. Ravana was a Great scholar and Ruler.

Going by the information provided by the sages, Vedas and Puranas, righteousness always triumphs over unrighteousness. Lord Vishnu, according to Hindu mythology, is the eradicator of all evils who assumed different Avatars to rid the world from atrocities. Vishnu raises a protective barrier around his devotees to ensure prosperity in their lives.

Shri Rama is the seventh Avatar of Lord Vishnu. The story of Ram Avatara you will also find in the Padma Purana, one of the ancient Puranas of Hindu mythology. Once Goddess Parvati grew curious about the various incarnations of Lord Vishnu and inquired to Mahadev. To satiate her quest for knowledge, Mahadev told Parvati, ‘Once Swayambhuva Manu had expressed his desire to have Lord Vishnu as his son to which Lord Vishnu agreed too’.

During the Treta Yuga, Vishnu manifested himself as Dasharath and took birth as Sri Rama. In the same manner, in Dwapar Yuga, Manu was born as Vasudev and Lord Vishnu kept his promise by taking birth as Shri Krishna. After the turn of almost a thousand years, Manu was born again in the village of Sambal as Harigupta and Vishnu was born as his son ‘Kalki’.

Lord Shiva then continued to talk about the birth of Sri Rama and said- sage vishrava was the son of Pulasya who was married to Kekashi. Both Ravana and Kumbhakarna was born to this couple. Another set of offspring they had too among which there was Surpanakha and then a virtuous son Vibhishana. After doing austere penance to please Lord Shiva, he was pleased and appeared before them. They then asked the boon of mortality from Lord Shiva and they got.

The boon turned around Ravana from being virtuous to spiteful and started tormenting the inhabitants from the three worlds. Scared, the deities sought the intervention of Lord Vishnu who assured them that he will solve the problems once and for all.  He then took birth as Lord Rama to bring Ravana to task.

How Rama was born to king Dasaratha?

The story of Rama’s birth is one among the widely circulated mythological stories in India. King Dasaratha, who was a lineage of Surya, was childless. He had three queens, Kaushalya, Saumitra and Kaikeyi. He once performed a Yagna which is called Vaishav Yagna to have a child. In this process, one appeases the gods so that they are blessed with beautiful children. Needless to say, Gods heard his prayers and he was lucky to have Lord Rama as his child. When the Yagnya was being performed, Lord Vishnu gave a bowl of divine Kheer to Dasaratha and asked it to distribute among his queens. Dasaratha had done as asked and in the course of time, Kaushalya gave birth to Lord Rama in the sacred day of Chaitra-Navami. His birth was rejoiced in the three lokas.

This was the whole story of how Lord Vishnu reincarnated as Lord Rama to ascertain that Ravana doesn’t run amok.

Sahastra Ravana – Since childhood, especially if you are born and raised in Northern India, the only Ramayana you are aware of is the one written by Valmiki, the first Sanskrit poet (Adhikavi). On asking the plot of the epic, your probable answer would be the synopsis of the movies and television shows you watch based on it.

Indubitably, in that context what you know is not more than what is been showed to you, be it through a 180 minutes movie or 25-30 minutes daily show. The title might bewilder you but more than that you would find it interesting to know there are more than 300 versions of Indian epic poem, the Ramayana, known to exist. Albeit the one attributed to the sage Valmiki is considered as the oldest version among all.

Before answering the question who killed the Sahastra Ravana, if not Rama, let’s first know the backdrop of the story.

In Adbhut Ramayana, one of the version of the Ramayana, also referred as deviant composition, the Goddess Sita is not depicted as demure and helpless rather fierce and sturdy. Coming back to what you all might have heard and watch the story of Ramayana which says, the demon King Ravana also known as Dashanan (one with 10 heads) abducted the Goddess Sita and prison her in Ashok Vatika, in the premises of his kingdom.

It is said that the erudite Ravana knew his this act might bring him to his fate, death, despite he did so to know if Rama was the incarnation of God or not and this led the battle between the two. In order to rescue his wife Rama head to Lanka with his army of monkeys and other creatures. This might interest you to know that Ravana was the Brahmin who performed the rites of purohit when the Rama Sethu bridge was constructed. And then held the battle, in which on the 10th day the elder Ravana’s brother Vibhishana told Lord Rama about the boon that Ravana beseeched from the creator Brahma and thus asked him to strike the arrow to dashanan’s navel in order to kill him. This is how the demon king met his fate and lord Rama won the battle.

Is this the end of the story? Not really, soon after this the divine couple went back and had their me time while one of the doota came to inform about the Sahastra Ravana (with 100 heads) who was forming his army to attack Ayodhya. Boosted with his recent conquest, Rama in no second was ready to fought against him and plan to knock him down. It is said that the Sahastra Ravana was the elder brother of Ravana, more powerful than him. While fighting in the battle with him, Lord Rama and Shakti were wounded and fell unconscious. The omnipresent, Goddess Sita saw this and filled with rage she took the form of Kali/ Bhadrakali and came to the battle field to fight with the tremendous giant Sahastra Ravana. Her complexion from fair turned to stark blue and her attired got transformed, wearing garlands of demon hands around her waist and tiger skin skirt. She fought fiercely with the demon and defeated him. This is how Sahastra Ravana was killed by Adi-Shakti, Sita.

The story might be queer to many and unheeded by much, yet talks about the valiant Sita who was portrayed only as meek and helpless in the big screens and even in some hard-covers. Albeit some people even claim it as merely a fiction while some believe and preach about it, as a matter of fact is it all upto us how we perceive.
