Summer is already upon us and it’s time to bring out the sunscreen and skin packs. If you want your winter skin to start glowing again, you have got to follow certain rituals. From acne to zits to oily texture to tan, winter has ruined your skin in every possible way. What are the top five rituals that will make you summer-ready? Read on:

Loading up on sunscreen:
Before stepping out in the harsh sun, generously apply sunscreen all over your face, neck and hands. Make sure that the SPF level is above 30 so it protects you against UV rays for a longer period of time. If you’re going to be out in the sun for a long time, reapply the sunscreen every three hours. Those with a dry skin can opt for sunscreens with a moisturizing base, while those with an oily skin should go for sunscreens that are oil-free. If you have normal skin, find out how your T-zone is and apply the sunscreen accordingly.

Citrus face pack:
Summers mean loads and loads of citrus attack as they nourish, cleanse and soothe your skin. The lemon fruit facial acts as a great toner that will even out your skin and make it supple. Vitamin C that’s present in this fruit helps cleanse out and moisturize your skin better. It’s a great home facial during summers as it will keep the skin cool and protected. Slice up the lemons into two and use it either directly on your skin and wash off with lukewarm water or squeeze the juice out of the fruit and mix it with honey to make a quick face pack. In fact, a glass water of warm water with honey and lemon juice is an excellent skin cleanser, both internally and externally.

Another fruit that’s loaded with vitamin C is oranges, which helps slow down the ageing process. Rub orange skin all over your face and wash off with lukewarm water for a tight and firm skin. Regular use of orange peel can help fight wrinkles, skin tear and fine lines. The citric quality will help maintain the ph level in your skin, protecting it against the sun, wind and dust.

Drinking fluids:
Nothing cleanses and hydrates your skin better than eight glasses of water and regular intake of coconut water and seasonal juices. Begin your day by drinking lots of water and avoiding caffeine and tea. Summers will drain you off water as you’ll be sweating more, so it’s essential to keep yourself hydrated. Moreover, hydrated skin is the best make-up you’ll need this season. So keep sipping on coconut water and fresh fruit juices!

Hair care:
Hair tends to become limp and oily during this season, so let go of harsh shampoos and conditioners. Invest in citrus-based or seasonal fruit-based hair products that are light on the scalp. Since you’ll be washing your hair three-four times a week, it’s important to use a light shampoo that doesn’t rob your hair off its essential oils. The same rule applies to your fragrances as well. Go for perfumes and sprays that have fruity or minty flavours so that they don’t come off as too harsh against your sweat.

Get ready to take on the heat with these cool tools that will keep you sweat-free and fresh. Remember, the most important ritual to follow during summers is to protect yourself against the sun and to sip on liquids. Enjoy!
