The news of the launch of HTC Desire 816 comes just few days after the launch of its biggest rival, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual.
In fact, HTC Desire 816 and Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual sport almost similar specs, such as, dual-SIM functionality, quad-core processors, great primary cameras, and more. Owing to their large displays, both the smartphones fall under the phablet category. We compared both the competitors to see which one scores better in the ongoing rat race of mid-ranged phablets.
Design & Built
With a plastic build, the Desire 816 seems aesthetically pleasing. It weighs 165 grams and flaunts a 7.99 mm thickness profile. On the other hand, the Xperia T2 Ultra has a sleek look and lightweight design with 7.65 mm thickness profile.
The HTC Desire 816 sports a 5.5-inch Super LCD2 display with 1280×720p resolution and 267 ppi pixel density. Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual flaunts a larger 6-inch display with the same pixel resolution and 245 ppi pixel density.
Both the devices derive their power from a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. While the T2 Ultra Dual’s processor ticks at a speed of 1.4 GHz, the Desire 816 equips itself with a 1.6 GHz processor.
The Xperia T2 Ultra Dual runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS and comes loaded with 1 GB of RAM, whereas, the Desire 816 operates on the latest Android 4.4.2 version and ships with 1.5 GB of RAM.
Both the phones bring on board an in-built storage of 8 GB which is expandable with the help of a MicroSD card.
Both the handsets come packed with a decent 13 MP rear camera with LED Flash. While the Desire 816 poses a whopping 5 MP front-facing snapper, the Xperia T2 Ultra ships with a mere 1.1 MP camera at the front.
On the connectivity front, both the handsets offer Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, and 3G. Additionally, Desire 816 also comes with LTE support.
While Desire 816 uses a 2,600 mAh of battery, the Xperia T2 Ultra boasts of a capacious 3,000 mAh of juicer.
Offering almost similar price points, the price of HTC Desire 816 is approximately INR 24,000 and the price of Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual is around INR 25,000.
Considering the specs, the new HTC Desire 816 takes the cake, although Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual is also a great option for those who are looking for a larger display and considerably better battery life. However, brand choice is also an important aspect, and the final decision entirely depends upon the user’s preference.
