The new Sunanda Pushkar autopsy report was submitted to police nine days ago, on September 30 to be precise. Tharoor started praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi through series of tweets around that time.
There is a new twist in the Sunanda Pushkar-Tharoor death mystery.
Yes, the medical team at AIIMS, Delhi, which re-examined the viscera of Pushkar has found that she died due to poisoning. The new report by the three-member panel of doctors was prepared on the basis of the findings of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) which had examined Sunanda’s viscera earlier.
The fresh report mentioned the same thing like CFSL where the doctor’s team again concluded that Pushkar’s kidney, liver and heart were functioning normally and that her death was caused by poisoning. The viscera report of CFSL in March had hinted at drug poisoning but police considered it as inconclusive. It then asked AIIMS to re-examine the report and give its findings.
According to the Times of India: “The new report was completed on September 27 and received by the investigating officer, V K P S Yadav, on September 30. The earlier IO, Atul Sood, was transferred a month ago and the ACP supervising the investigations, Surinder Sharma, retired in late September. The area DCP, too, was shifted to the traffic department a fortnight ago.
What the team found was ethyl alcohol, caffeine, acetaminophen and cotinine in Sunanda’s body. It has asked for forensic analysis of Sunanda’s bedsheet and pillow cover. Among the 15 injuries the team examined on Sunanda’s body, it found ‘injury number 10’ to be a mark caused by the needle of a syringe.
In the report, the team lambasted Delhi Police for not submitting several crucial documents required to form a medical opinion. It said the cops did not submit any report on the reason for the injuries in Sunanda’s body. The team also said an analysis of circumstantial evidence in the case was required to be carried out but wasn’t.”

It is interesting because that is the tie when Congress leader and husband of Pushkar, who was prime suspect in this case of unnatural death, Shashi Tharoor started praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi through series of tweets around that time.
He had praised Modi’s speech at United Nations and his stand on Pakistan’s unprovoked attack on India. He was even slammed for his statements by his own party members.
Sunanda was found dead in a 5-star hotel in South Delhi on the night of January 17, a day after her Twitter spat with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar over an alleged affair with Tharoor. The probe into the case was handed over to the Crime Branch on January 23. However, the case was transferred back to the South District police two days later on January 25.
BJP had demandd an enquiry into the death of Tharoor who was on the verge of revealing some information on the Tharoor-Congress-IPL nexus and other scams as well. She had called her friends before her death announcing a press meet.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has been demanding a through probe into her death. Recently, he decided to move court seeking to constitute a Special Investigation Team to look into the death.
He said he has taken the decision because the Delhi police have not made any breakthrough in the case yet and their investigation can only be termed as ‘tardy’. “The special probe team should comprise officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Intelligence Bureau (IB),” he said.
With the fresh report clearly indicating foul play, the Delhi Police will be forced to register an FIR in the case now. The problems for Tharoor will increase. And that is a pretty good reason to be in good books of BJP and Prime Minister Modi.
