Samsung Galaxy Tab S: Lighter, Thinner, and High Resolution AMOLED Screen

To compete with the iPad, Samsung has launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Available in 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch screen options, both these products, guarantee better picture quality, and are thinner & lighter in comparison to their rivals.

The Samsung Electronics Company launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab S to directly compete with the iPad.

This product from Samsung is among the first tablets to use a super AMOLED (Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diodes) display technology, which was up till now used in Smartphones only.

Available in two screen options – 8.4-inches and 10.5-inches, these tablets are lighter and thinner than the products of Apple.

A great combination of appealing hardware, latest software, and many contemporary Samsung Galaxy Tab S features, both the tablets flaunt a 6.6mm thick body which is light in weight and easy to carry.

The most striking feature of Samsung Galaxy Tab S is its high-resolution screen which guarantees better picture quality than the standard LCDs!

The 10.5-inch screen model with a 2560 x 1600 resolution boasts of 264 pixels per inch density and the 8.4-inch one comes with 359 pixels per inch density. Both these tabs give stiff competition to the iPad in this segment.

These AMOLED screens not only produce amazing colors, but also help save power and reduce the thickness of the tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S specifications for both the models are almost the same except for the battery size. The 10.5-inch tab comes with a 7900mAh battery and weighs 465 grams, whereas the smaller tab comes with a 4900mAh battery & weighs 294 grams.

The other important features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S include Exynos 5 Octa (1.9 GHz QuadCore & 1.3 GHz Quadcore) or Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3 GHz Quadcore processors, Android Kitkat 4.4, 16GB or 32GB internal memory, micro SD support of up to 128GB, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac MIMO, and more. The tablets offer Wi-Fi, LTE (4G), Bluetooth 4.0, and Infra Red too.

With 8MP rear and 2.1MP front camera, these tablets display a sleek perforated design at the back which looks extremely enticing. Powered with fingerprint scanners, Samsung has loaded its new offering with contemporary software, including the SideSync 3.0 and Remote PC. Equipped with IR blasters, the UI of both the tablets is fast and smooth.

We expect the Samsung Galaxy Tab S to reach the US next month. Samsung plans to supply the Wi-Fi models first. Later, it would distribute the LTE ones.

The tablet manufacturer has also fixed a competitive Samsung Galaxy Tab S Price. The 10.5-inch Wi-Fi model would cost around $499 and its sibling would come for $399.

We expect both these models to create a stir in the tablet market. We will share with our readers as and when we get further updates on both these products!
