I was waiting for him at the cafeteria. One cutting chai and one bun maska is all we needed to make our hour long conversation lovely. But that day he was nowhere to be seen…

I met him in the lift 3 months ago. He was the first one to exchange a smile. I didn’t really respond to that at the first go. He then spotted me at the cafeteria during lunch time. He waved at me but I looked away.

Few weeks later we met again in the lift. That was time when I said a hello but he ignored my gesture. I felt bad and realised I shouldn’t have been cold towards him in the past. There was nothing extraordinary about him but his eyes spoke a lot. That is what attracted me the most.

One day during a tea break and I went to get bun maska for me from the cafeteria. I suddenly saw him standing next to me calling for a cutting chai. I smiled at him. He surprisingly responded to that with warmth.

Well, that’s how it all began. Every evening after work we spent an hour at the cafeteria. We discussed everything under the roof. The only thing we didn’t really talk about was about love.

I was curious to know about that too but didn’t really know where to begin it from. I was waiting for the right moment. Few days later I understood that he was planning to shift base to Bangalore. I suddenly felt I was going be left alone with my bun maska.

I pondered over my thought. I somehow realised that I had developed a deep lovely feeling toward him. I was experiencing a special bond towards someone for the first time. I didn’t know to express my feelings.

After much thinking I decided to drop him a note with a cutting chai and didn’t meet him that evening. We never exchanged numbers. I skipped work for two days fearing rejection. I buckled up and left for work on the third day. I was restless throughout the day. As soon as it was time to leave, I quickly packed my bag and went to the cafeteria. I called for my bun maska and kept waiting for him for more than an hour.

I was disappointed and thought I had got my answer. The moment I was leaving for home I saw the cafeteria guy running towards me with a note. I was nervous but I had to read the note to know the final word.

“I will be back soon. Give me some time to think over this. You are lovely. See you.” Those were the words that made me think if he loves me or he loves me not…
