If you’re snowed under and feeling sleeping at work, here are some tips to avoid snoozing off at work.
It’s just the second day of the week and you’re already snowed under. Last night was a mad rush and you haven’t been able to enjoy your beauty sleep, all of which is showing in your work. You’re sleepy, irritated and on the verge on snapping at people. Well, worry not! We have put together a list of things for you to do when you’re being drawn to the zzzz land! Read on:
Take a power nap:
Yes, nothing fights temptation than yielding to it. Take a 15-minute power nap and you will feel fresh and happy. Turn off your laptop, smartphone, ipod and any other device that you may have and go off to sleep. If you don’t have the luxury of taking a power nap at work, you should be looking for another job! Because power naps are essential.
Watch comedy shows on YouTube:
Laugh your sleep away. Hit up any of your favourite comedy shows on YouTube and watch a couple of episodes. If you’re laughing your ass off, you’re forgetting about your lack of sleep! Comedy shows offer the correct amount of distraction, which pep you up for better productivity.
Call up your bestie:
If none of the above is working out for you, simply pick up your phone and ring up your bestie. If he/she is busy, call up mommy dear. She will always be there for you…but the downside of this could be her asking you to buy ‘dedh litre doodh’ while returning from work. When you’re engaged in deep conversations with someone, you tend to forget your miseries. Try it out!
Skip the rice:
If mommy has packed yummy fried rice for lunch, skip it. Carbs will only make you sleepier and in any case, post-lunch sessions are the most unbearable. Go for something light, may be a quick salad and you are sorted for the day. You must also avoid a heavy lunch as that will put you to sleep for sure.
Take a walk:
Go and explore your beautiful office. If you’re on the tenth floor, take the stairs till the seventh floor…when your body is pushed to do something strenuous, it starts pumping adrenaline. This rush will keep you awake for the rest of the day. But don’t overdo the walking/climbing bit as that can tire you out.
Get a coffee:
If everything else fails, go grab a coffee. It will give you an instant rush that’s enough to keep you going!
