‘Congress, BJP have joined hands against UP govt’

Uttar Pradesh’s ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) Monday accused Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of joining hands against the state government.

Uttar Pradesh’s ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) Monday accused Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of joining hands against the state government.

Alleging that the tone and tenor of both the parties had become “almost the same recently”, party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhary said Congress has realized that it has lost political space in the state owing to the development work initiated by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

“Congress calls itself secular but it is hobnobbing with the BJP to sully the image of the SP government,” said Chowdhary, who is also prisons minister, and alleged the political understanding between the two parties was evident as both had “imported general secretaries to hold charge in UP from Gujarat”.

“Both Madhusudan Mistry (Congress) and Amit Shah (BJP) are from Gujarat and are now trying to create some space for their parties,” he claimed.

Chowdhary said that the government will not allow any one to vitiate the atmosphere in the state and will act firmly against such people.
