For those of us who have been living out of PGs, rented rooms and homes, it becomes all the more important to have our personal, intimate corner in the room. After a tiring day at work or college, there’s nothing like snuggling upto your favourite, cosy, warm corner and let reading heal your tired self. Here’s a five-step guide to achieving your special space:

  1. Identify the right spot, preferably next to a window. Don’t lose your heart if you don’t have one. We will work out something.
  2. Separate it from the rest of the room. If your room is small, you can use a sheer curtain. Or, if this is not feasible, simply add a nice comfortable chair or couch to give a sense of personal space.
  3. If you are fond of low seating, throw in a rug and some cushions and create a cosy space.
  4. Squeeze in a pretty, small bookshelf and fix in a lamp.
  5. Add some quirky touches like photo frames, wall hangings, glass bottles, tins, pen stands and vases.
