The draw for the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League is out.
The draw for the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League is out. Reigning champions Bayern Munich take on La Liga giants, Real Madrid while in the other semi, we see English club, Chelsea take on Champions League chasers, Atletico Madrid.
So, who does want to win it from here? Bayern Munich might be touted as favourites but never ignore the other three powerhouses of football.
As the things stand, Chelsea will face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final. Manager Jose Mourinho takes his Blues side to the Vicente Calderon in the first leg, before hosting the La Liga leaders at Stamford Bridge a week later. In the other half of the draw, Real Madrid host champions, Bayern Munich with a travel to the Allianz Arena, a week later. The first legs for the Champions League semi-finals will take place on April 22 and 23, with the return fixtures scheduled for the following week – April 29 and 30.
In the wake of the draw, one could cite the emergence of the likes of Chelsea and Atletico Madrid as the future powerhouses of football. Chelsea, who has won the UCL Title in 2012 against Bayern Munich, will look to repeat the heroics against a valiant Atletico Madrid side that dumped Barcelona out of the quarter-finals.
If everybody fancies, Bayern Munich to clinch the title yet again, in your dreams! Chelsea might be the ‘dark horses’ (as touted by Jose Mourinho) but never underestimate, Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. Also, Real Madrid can come in as ‘underdogs’ against Bayern Munich if or unless, a fit Cristiano Ronaldo can fire the ‘Los Blancos’ in to the Finals.
The ‘Special One’ who said, “If the quarter-finals had eight fantastic teams, imagine the four that are going to reach the semi-finals. A big opponent is waiting for us but it doesn’t matter who.” Well, Jose, you have got your wish!
As for the other three sides in the draw, may be, just maybe, it’s time for everybody to gloat a new champion! (It’s a club from Madrid).
