The French Football team face the ignominy of facing exit from the prestigious FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil next year. Their 2-0 loss against Ukraine in the 1st leg has left the Les Bleus red-faced and on the verge of not qualifying to the World Cup after 20 years. With the 2nd leg on air today, we take a look at some of the players who should stand up and take responsibility:

Eric Abidal
The PSG defender who is also the skipper needs to lead his men from the word ‘go’. Abidal is an experienced campaigner and his vital inputs could prove handy for the French team to come out of this difficult phase.

Karim Benzema
France forward Karim Benzema has really found it tough getting into Didier Deschamps side. With Olivier Giroud still not 100% fit, Real Madrid forward must take responsibility of leading his nation into the 2014 WC.

Franck Ribery
Even though he is winning honours at the club level for Bayern Munich, winger Franck Ribery still has to achieve greatness on national stage. If France fails to qualify for the World Cup next year, Ribery’s honours will mean nothing.

Samir Nasri
Remained clueless in the 1st leg, Samir Nasri needs to up his level of game if France plans to have a ticket to Brazil. The creative midfielder has all the qualities required at the international stage and with the crucial 2nd leg awaiting, Nasri has to bring his game ‘A’ to the field.

Yohan Cabaye
The France national team is full of big name players that includes Newcastle United midfielder, Yohan Cabaye. In the last game, his underperformance led to the Ukraine team scoring 2 goals. Cabaye is a holding midfielder and needs to stop Ukraine’s full flowing game.
