Cricketers back ‘depressed’ Trott

England batsman Jonathan Trott has returned to England stating that he was suffering from a ‘stress-related illness’. Since then many ex-cricketers and current players have come forward for his support.

Former player Marcus Trescothick:
“You just can’t take any more, you just can’t get through the day, let alone go out there and play a Test match and win a Test match. I sympathise with Trotty. “I’ve been in that exact situation in ’06 and ’07 and tried to make that decision knowing that the consequences and all the attention it’s going to bring onto you are going to be tough”

England all-rounder Stuart Broad on Twitter
“Love Trotty. Absolute champion of a man. He knows he has all the support of all the people around him. Puts cricket in perspective.”

Former England captain Nasser Hussain
“It’s shocking news. No-one had any whispers of it at all. I had a chat with Jonathan the day before the first Test and he seemed fine, but you never know what’s going on in someone’s mind.”

Shane Warne on Twitter
“Feeling for Jonathan Trott. I hope he and his family are left alone by all media & he’s able to recover quickly & return to the Eng team!”

Michael Vaughan
“Trott’s approach to cricket is very similar. I believe he is the kind of cricketer who lives and breathes for runs. There is nothing wrong with that – a lot of great players have been that way – but when those runs stop it must be very hard to cope.”
