Honda Activa 125cc: The Scooter With Little More Flair!

The Honda Activa 125 is the new scooter from the Honda family. With a lot of improvements from the previous model, this Honda Activa Scooter looks a lot more promising.

We don’t think the new Honda Activa 125 will replace its previous generation scooter, Activa 110; at least not in the near future. But there is a growing trend of bike owners shifting to scooters and car owners opting to buy scooters for everyday short run-about and catching on.

Hence, the 125cc scooter segment is all set to grow. And being a smart brand, Honda wouldn’t like to miss out on the opportunity. Besides, there is the crucial question of retaining Activa 110 owners in the Honda fold once they grow tired of the 110.

Honda has answered brilliantly to all this with its new Activa 125. Like its previous scooter, Activa 110, the present one follows a more traditional design but has a little more flair. The chrome on the front and the new one piece tail lamp with integrated turn indicators give this new scooter a premium feel. Plus, it also looks bigger and taller than the previous Honda Activa Scooter.

Once you ride the new Activa 125 you would know it feels a lot better. The seating ergonomics are upright and also feels a lot roomy, just like a large scooter should. And this comfortable seating actually makes it easy for people to go for an extended ride. The view of the rider is also good.

There is a part-analogue-part-digital instrumentation for digital display for trip, odo, and fuel and an analogue readout for the speed. This instrumentation actually gives an up-market feel to the scooter. The levers, the grips and the switchgear, however, are pretty similar to Activa and functions well. The Activa 125 has a large enough floorboard and a 18-litre under-seat stowage which many would find useful.

Specifications

The engine is also pretty awesome. The 125cc engine is based on the 110cc engine that powers both Activa i and Activa; and only makes 0.6PS more. The torque rating is no doubt higher at a little over 10Nm and you can also feel this difference the moment you give it a throttle. The new Activa 125 moves quicker and feels a lot lighter and attains a top speed of 90kmph, without feeling stressed. The refinement levels are also top notch and only after you cross 80kmph can you actually feel the vibrations; then again, these are always muted and never in the way. The CVT is the same as Activa 110 but there is more judder at start up; and once the speed is above 15kmph it settles down.

The new Activa is available in two trims ‘“ deluxe and standard. The Deluxe has standard disc brakes with steel rims and a drum at the front. Both the versions come with tubeless tyres and telescopic forks in the front. And Activa 125 also uses a 10in rear wheel (just like Activa 110) and a 12in front. Well, 12 or 10, the main thing is Activa 125 rides a lot better, and is one of the better Honda Activa Scooters around!

The price of Honda Activa 125 ranges from 60,000 to 63,000 INR.

With a lot of modifications and improvements than the previous 110, the new Activa is certainly a better machine.
