2014 Ford Figo: Launched in India at Rs 4.03 lakh

Ford India has launched the 2014 edition of its Figo hatchback with prices starting at Rs 4.03 lakh with a new colour option and new set of features.

Ford India who displayed the refreshed version of its flagship hatchback, the Ford Figo at the on-going 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi last week has now officially launched the new edition with prices starting at Rs 4.03 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The new edition of the Ford Figo is not a major departure from the current model. The one prominent highlight however, is the brand new colour option of ’Mars Red’ – which until now was only available with the Ford EcoSport SUV. Ford officials also confirmed that the Figo can be requested in the earlier ’Paprika Red’ colour as well. Apart from the bold new colour options, the 2014 Ford Figo has also been equipped with a segment-first Speed Sensing Volume Controls and Wi-Fi connectivity.

While, the Speed Sensing Volume Controls will be made available in all the variants of the Figo running a factory-fitted audio system, the Wi-Fi module will cost an additional Rs 10,000 to get a place in the hatchback. The Wi-Fi module/dongle makes use of a SIM card that connects to the USB jack on the audio system to create a Wi-Fi hotspot in the car.

Other upgrades made to the 2014 Ford Figo include a new alloy design, chrome embellishments, the hexagonal air dam and the re-profiled tail maps on the outside. Inside the cabin, the hatchback is seen sporting new black leather seat covers with contrast orange stitching. The dashboard comes in the same black and blue dual-tone colour and houses dual airbags and a Bluetooth enabled audio system. Driver airbag will now be offered as standard on the top-end ZXi variant.

The Ford Figo was originally launched in the Indian market back in 2010, which quickly went on to become one of the best-selling hatchbacks in the country. The car is being offered in both petrol and diesel variants, wherein the petrol variants come powered by a 1.2-litre unit that is rated at 70PS and 102Nm while, the diesel variants use a 1.4-litre power plant that produces 68PS of max power and 160Nm of peak torque.

Apart from the 2014 Ford Figo, the U.S-based automaker showed off an array of concepts and  new models at the 2014 Auto Expo. Among them was the all-new Figo Sedan concept, which is based on Ford’s Ka Concept hatchback and is scheduled to launch before the end of 2014 in the Indian market. The Ka Concept hatch in turn, is expected to replace the current Figo in the country. But it will be a while, for the Ka Concept to get ready for its production avatar. Also, on display was the all-new 2014 Ford Endeavor and the new Fiesta sedan.
