The All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi has launched its new scholarship schemes, which will be offered to students under various categories.

Out of the new schemes, two scholarships are launched for girls and for the differently-abled students.

Pragati Scholarship for girls, allows an amount of Rs 2,000 per month to be granted to the student for 10 months. The scholarship is applicable to the family with only one girls child and the income of which is less than Rs 6 lakhs per annum.

Approximately 4000 Pragati scholarships are available for girl students, admitted in the first year of their graduation/schooling, in any AICTE approved institution.

The scheme for differently-abled scholarship will offer around 1000 scholarships.

The scholarship would include an amount of Rs 2,000 per month to each student for 10 months. Like the Pragati scholarship, the family income should not exceed Rs 6 lakhs per annum, and the student should be admitted in the first year of any AICTE approved institution.

To apply for the scholarship, a candidate has to apply through the official website of AICTE. The scholarship schemes have been provided in order to develop awareness in the higher education system, and also to provide necessary guidance and counselling to differently-abled persons.

The extent of empowerment of women in the national hierarchy is determined by three factors- her economic, social and political identity and their weightage.

The scholarship is a way of empowering women and making them converge effectively with the fast-paced world.
