The evolution of technology has not just made it easier for people to learn things, but to share their opinion too.
Social media is more like an online room that facilitates conversation unlike traditional media. It’s quite intriguing how social media affects the young generation today.
The reason these websites are known as social media websites is because you get to connect with people who wish to be socially active. While there are a number of reasons for the existence of social media like, relevant information, e-commerce, downloading, real estate and what not, it has been noted that consumers continue to spend more time on social media networks than on any other category of sites.
But there are a number of questions that remain unanswered like, should social media be a part of today’s education system as well?
Proponents of social media point out the benefits of social media in regards to students engagement is a good thing. The educationists on the other hand believe that there is no better way to make students learn other than classroom teaching, even when it comes to co-curricular activities.
The impact of social media on youth has been amazing.
But in my opinion, there’s a downside to everything. Interactions are taking place with the help of technology and not manually. While networking is a good way to reach out to a huge number of audience, manual interaction is getting lesser visibility these days. More than half of the introverts out there use social media to speak up, which is a good thing. But that, anyway is not helping their speaking skills.
Multi tasking is another effect social media has on youth.
Be it school, college or a corporate office, multi tasking affects attention and hence decreases productivity. Connectively, over exposure to unwanted content may result in anxiety problems or stress.
There’s absolutely no doubt regarding the awareness social media creates among youngsters. But you cannot deny that it also gets them delved into fantasy, which makes them difficult to accept what’s practical. There have also been cases among youth where internet harassment victimization and unwanted sexual encounters have been reported.
Staying updated on what’s going around, sharing your opinion about things, and being aware of facts is a good thing. Addiction, however, is something that might take a toll on you.
