Things that should not be shared in Social Media – Social media or virtual reality has become an inseparable part of our lives.

We all are pretentious there and fake to say the least. While it takes toll on our confidence trying to imitate the lives other live, it is equally harmful for our health if we fiddle with our smartphones for longer. Comes as no surprise, today’s kids too are highly addicted towards smartphones and tablets that is deviating their concentration from the productive things.

However, there are two kinds of people to be seen in social media, the first kind leaves no opportune reason to show off their faux perfection, and the others who either try to copy or criticise them.

Having said that, there are some social media etiquettes we strictly need to adhere to because we are making our personal lives public and here are the Things that should not be shared in Social Media for safety measures:

Things that should not be shared in Social Media –

The exact details about your impending vacation:
Criminals are always on the prowl for your intimate information to harm you. For example, if you post a ‘Home alone’ status, the predators will know that you have nobody for your defence and hence can exploit that opportunity.

Your personal location:

This is in same line as the previous rule about vacation. Keeping the audience updated about where are you and what you are doing makes you an easy target for the criminals. Sharing your location may be effing cool, but there are people who are always ready to take illicit advantage.

Avoid apps that track your location:

We are referring to the geotagged images. There are applications that immediately pick up your location as you post pictures. You ideally should do some research about them before downloading and using them.

Videos of your friends that were taken without permission:

This is clearly sabotaging one’s privacy. It is tempting to share those drunken videos or awkward snapshots but you can get yourself in real trouble while trying to be funny if the people find out that you are trolling them on social media.

Pictures of your credit cards:

If you divulge your credit card number and expiry date, you are likely to invite trouble for yourself. If you are doing so, you are pretty much giving them all the reason to con you. Besides, you may fall prey to identity theft too. So beware.

Personal details of your friends:

There are things that your friends share with you if they feel ecstatic or down. Like, they are expecting a baby, going to change the job soon or the relative they hold dear just passed away leaving them sad, you should restrict yourself from making that public because personal details are meant to be personal. No?
