Steps to utilise your leaves sensibly

Every company has different leave rules and it is essential to make yourself familiar with these. While some permit workers to take forward leaves, others don’t.

‘What was I thinking?’ This is frequently what workers say when they quit a company with plentiful leaves, most of which can’t be en-cashed. But with a slight mind, such circumstances can be avoided. I will tell you how.

1) Learn the regulations

Every company has different leave rules and it is essential to make yourself familiar with these. While some permit workers to take forward leaves, others don’t.

2) Prepare in advance

Workers must always prepare their leave calendar at the beginning of the year. Mainly, employees are conscious of holidays, festivals and big family functions at the beginning of the year. Keep your boss abreast of your leave request not less than six months in advance.

3) Segregate your leaves

The finish of the year gets festivities and celebrations, but don’t huddle together your leaves then. Segregating your leaves into two broad 15-day periods at the beginning and finish of the year is an excellent plan.

4) Don’t waste sick leave

Sick leaves are firmly intended for illness. There are lot of senior colleagues who use sick leave as informal leave. It draws a depressing picture of employees in front of their bosses and administration and depicts them as unproductive and inefficient.

5) Don’t feel at fault

Sometimes, workers feel blameworthy about going on leave but a holiday or break refreshes them up and boosts their efficiency and competence. Some organisations persuade their employees to take leave and also take their casual leaves, which lapse every year.
