Why Bollywood films are big hit – The insightful connection, Excellent execution of insights has the power to turn myths into reality. Saying this there is always a way to challenge myths and prove them wrong.
Ever wondered why some ads/ films or songs make a huge impact in our minds?
Despite of all the technical errors, continuity breaks, major blunders, etc. Bollywood films still have a huge fan following.
Is it because Indians don’t understand good cinema?
We are a cinema rich country and language is not really a barrier. Hollywood movies release in different regional versions as well.
What exactly is the factor that the Indian creative keedas work on to lure the audience, to make that connect?
It is that insight that makes the perfect connection with the audience.
Slight, silly observations that might not make the same impact elsewhere but immediately tend to strike a chord with the Indian audience.
Let us take an example of a new age director say Ayan Mukerji who has given blockbuster films to the Nation.
Ayan Mukerji has his own version of internships in our country.
In the movie ‘Wake up Sid’ Ranbir Kapoor’s stipend money is a Utopian thing for the Indians where you don’t even earn much at the start of your career.
Further one of his photographs even makes it to the cover page of the magazine. One may argue that lady luck must have been on his side so it may be possible.
But what about the unbelievable internship he does in ‘Yeh Jawaani hain Dewani’?
In internships you aren’t even allowed to touch most of the equipment and here he was nicely holding the boom rod with his headphones hung as some fancy stuff around his neck and dancing with Mohini (Madhuri Dixit).
To add to the despair of all the trainees of our country some of who are working for free and facing various hard ships our hero Bunny aka Ranbir earns so much in the internship that he goes for a trek to Manali and even sponsors his friend’s trip.
But that is Bollywood for us. It’s a glossy superficial world where things happen according to our whims and fancies with happy endings and then wakeup call…its time to face the reality.
We want to paint our world beautiful. Every day every moment in this country is a struggle.
Hence automatically we want a break from this harsh reality and given a chance would want to slip into the dream cocoon where everything is so perfect.
Bollywood takes us into that world.
We want to live in that world of illusion.
Our film industry works on this insight and this is the reason why films like DDLJ, K2H2, Maine Pyar Kiya, etc. are still mass favorites.
Excellent execution of insights has the power to turn myths into reality. Saying this there is always a way to challenge myths and prove them wrong.
