Main Tera Hero Trailer: Is Varun Dhawan Trying To Be Like Govinda?

David Dhawan is doing what he does the best – churn out comic capers but this time sans his blue-eyed boy Govinda. The director has joined hands with his younger son Varun Dhawan, who’s creating quite a riot in the promo of Main Tera Hero. If you have noticed the name of the film seems to be inspired by this hit song from Desi Boyz titled Main tera hero, which was directed by David’s elder sonny boy Rohit.

After playing an out and out brat in Student Of The Year, Varun is seen stepping into the shoes of a loveable rogue in Main Tera Hero.  Just the promo of the film is enough to gauge that this is a typical David Dhawan style flick, in which everything is exaggerated. DD is known for making his movies all tadkedaar – from the dialgoues to the music, everything is filmi and larger than life.

Varun plays Seenu in the movie and his co-stars are the very lovely Nargis Fakhri and Ileana D’Cruz. Junior Dhawan is also seen doing a li’l spoof on the ‘Ranbir Kapoor chasing Ileana’ scene from Barfi! The media is going abuzz with comparisons between him and Govinda. The two seem to have the same energetic spring in the step, the same agile dance movements.  Wonder if DD has now found a replacement for Chi Chi. Well, if that’s the case, hope he doesn’t get down to completing his ‘no.1’ franchise of films again (remember Hero no.1, Coolie no.1 et al?) – They looked good in the ‘90s, it’d rather stay stocked up there!

Have a look at the trailer and let us know what you think!

Since the movie reminds me so much of Govinda’s ‘full of life’ performances, here’s a li’l memory refresher for all Chi Chi fans out there. Watch the promos and tell us if Varun reminds y’all of the star…

Coolie no.1: Main toh raste se jaa raha tha is a song that’s etched in the history of groovy Bollywood numbers. Govinda flashed his coolie badge in the film with such great pride, kicked the hell out of his detractors and occasionally took his lover Karisma Kapoor out for a spicy round of Pani Puri.

Raja Babu: The other person who requires a special mention in the film apart from the Govinda, who plays a good for nothing brat in the first half, is Shakti Kapoor. He’s portrays such a convincing pest and Govinda’s side kick in the film, playing around with the drawstrings of his shorts-turned out that was his irritating signature style throughout the film.

Hero No.1: Govinda and Bebo have always made a great dancing pair; all hippity-hoppity, as if high on energy drinks. Sona kitna sona turned out to be one hell of a hit track. Check it out…
